10 hotels in Versailles: Best hotel deals for 2023

August 7, 2022 Elouise Mccaul

This former unofficial capital of France sits just 10 miles from Paris and is easily reachable by train. Even though the Chateau de Versailles has been known as the epitome of indulgent luxury for centuries, seeing it in person is a jaw-dropping experience. The chateau's magnificent gardens are free, but it's worth shelling out for a day ticket to see the interior—although it does make going back to even a fancy hotel seem rather humdrum.

Watch your bills

Just had a 4 night stay at the Louis and the hotel itself is an excellent place to stay. Short walk to the chateau, bars and restaurants. Well appointed, cosy room with balcony and nice touches such as demister on the bathroom mirror, Clarins shower gel etc, huge tv and fridge. Contemporary decor through lobby bar and restaurant. Could easily have been a 5 star review. However..... As previously mentioned in reviews only 2 pillows for a double bed, although extras delivered to room on request. On 4th floor the frequently used door to spa slams shut and literally shakes the room and corridor. Right old row although luckily no one using it during wee small hours while we were there. Now the worst part. We never ate at the hotel and booked a room only. We also only had one drink each in the bar. Was presented by the barman with a bill for 55 euros for a pint of Heineken and a coke. After querying it (3 Aperol spritzes had been added)a fresh bill appeared for 19 euros. Whilst still appearing to be high the items were correctly itemised. 12 euros for a pint and 5 for a coke. Needless to say we didnt use the bar again. Then on departure day I had an email encouraging me to use fast checkout by just depositing my key in the box and letting them charge my card for any incurred expenses. The final bill was attached with 4 days of breakfasts added at 56 euros a day. A very frank discussion with the guy on reception revealed that the system adds it on automatically!!!! An accusation of unethical practise was followed by the swift removal of the 224 euros overcharge. Seemed as though another chap in reception had had a similar experience with his bill. The hotel appears to be popular with business types who might not be quite so observant and I'm guessing they're trawling for easy money. BEWARE.

Absolute outrage

This hotel has to be one of the worst I’ve ever stayed at. The staff are so rude and even when you complain they ignore and simply don’t care about their guests. In the middle of the night the fire alarm went off so all guests evacuated and there was no sign of ANY staff there to tell us what was going on. No protocol. Nothing. This is simply outrageous and then to have apologised to guests the next day made it all that much worse. AVOID. It ruined our dream of visiting Versailles. The quality and value for money for the 2 over priced restaurants were daylight robbery

Very good hotel, nice breakfast, perfect position and kind staff

We had already been here few years ago, and will surely be back again: it's easy to reach from 2 of the Versailles train station, and you can find a parking just in front (quite expensive though) if you have a car. The room and the bathroom are small but comfortable, clean, anti-covid measures are taken seriously. Bed is comfortable, pity that the stilish nice sink in the bathroom is not that practical, no real room for properly wash your hands, but this was really the only "bad" point for us. Breakfast buffet more than adequate, good quality, and properly setup.

Very well located hotel, so close to Versailles. Convenient parking underneath the hotel you can access from the elevator. Small room. Good rain shower. Decent sized TV. Bring an HDMI cable to watch your own shows if you don't speak French though. Only BBC was in English and we like to watch TV before bed.

Absolutely magical!

It's like being transported in a time machine back to the reign of Louis XIV — staying on the actual estate of the Palace of Versailles with the personnel dressed up in 18th century-style outfits. Truly the best service I've ever experienced — each and every member of staff was very attentive and knowledgable. Big thank you to the team for the incredible hospitality! There were plenty of activities during the stay (in fact, we probably had time to enjoy the actual room only for a couple of hours, apart from the night-time): As part of the package you get to explore the vast gardens in a golf buggy, followed by an after-hours tour of the palace during the sunset — both felt special. The evening feast at the on-site restaurant by Alain Ducasse was the icing on the cake — grand, with some amusing theatrical touches by the crew. If you have one of those bucket lists — I would highly suggest putting “Airelles Château de Versailles” to the top of it.

Hotel was fine - but there were some issues!

The hotel itself was fine, room was clean and beds were comfortable. The negatives were: there is no parking available...it cost 33€ to park overnight on the street - once we found a spot. Also the hotel amenities listed laundry service, but there is none at the hotel itself, just a laundromat 2 blocks away.
