Very good facility

Reviewed By gcgaza

24 hour service, Large building with stunning views, especially on the higher floors. Supermarket underneath building is an added bonus. Free wi fi and chrome cast. We had an extended stay of over 4 weeks. Housekeeping was once a week for us, however we did not mind as the washing facilities and cooking were very good. The Gold Coast has 3 Meritons, This one is the cheapest due to the locale of Southport, however quality of facilities is on par with the others, which we have stayed at. If you are +21 day stays, then you can enquire direct with estays.Meriton for much better rate. Light rail service is right outside building. Walking, park etc for kids and families is about 5mins walk away, and you are right on the water. Only one down side for me is the $20 per night parking which you are hit with when you pay, It is quite hefty for the G Coast, so be careful when comparing sites. If it was not for this, I would give it a 10 for value,

Incorrect room location - requested ground floor as close to reception as possible. If this unavailable either floors 1 or 2 adjacent to the lifts - we were allocated room 427! Incorrect bed configuration - requested twin kings - we were given single king It became apparent that room 427 was double booked due to the many key issues we experienced! In addition to the key issues, at around 6pm on Tuesday 31 May the door to 427 was opened and the person entered until they realised it was already occupied and promptly retreated hence a call to us from reception and how we had to explain the on-going issues with the keys! When we finally gained access to the room we noticed some sweets accompanied a card which said "welcome back the the Mantra, Jackie" Talk about "Faulty Towers"!

Ok for a short stay

Reviewed By Stephen V

We (3 adults) stayed here for one night recently. Initial impressions on arriving were that the hotel is nice, clean and modern. Check-in was quick and easy. Unfortunately there is not enough off street parking available so we had to park on the street. So be warned, book your parking in advance. We booked a room for 3 adults and it is fair to say that the room was tiny. With the extra single bed taking up valuable floor space there wasn't much room left for anything else. There is NO storage in the room, no closet, no wardrobe at all. The only place to hang clothes is on a metal rail attached to the wall. The bathroom is super small and the water pressure in the shower is terrible, also the water temperature constantly fluctuated between hot and cold. The beds were comfortable, however in this colder weather there were no extra blankets or bed coverings in the room. Also, the aircon was locked on cooling. It was impossible to change to heating! Tea and coffee facilities were standard. Wifi was acceptable. The T.V. is good but small. We paid extra to have breakfast onsite and it was worth the money. Would we stay here again? Probably not. While the hotel is new, clean and modern, the bad outweighs the good for us. Tips if you want to stay here: Maximum of 2 people per room. Pre-book your parking. If you are staying during colder months bring extra blankets and/or hot water bottle.

Don't Stay Here!

I arrived late on a Friday night. Just dropping off to sleep when other guests arrived back and proceeded to make an unholy racket. Not much sleep that night - arrived back Saturday arvo to find the party in full swing - yelling, swearing, banging and loud music continuously but nothing done by management. I left and found alternative accommodation - came back Sunday to return the key and to ask for a refund for the last night which I thought was only fair. The manager said I have to apply through Expedia which I duly did and was refused again. At no time was there any apology or empathy from the manager - they had my money and that was as far as it went. Worst ever accommodation experience and at no stage was my room made up either.

NOT the place to stay in Southport. You would be booking a bedroom in a house with shared facilities.

I stay in Motels & Pubs a few times a year & this is the first bad review in some years. I arrived at Southport-Dandar early just to drop my bags & it was then that I found out I had booked a bedroom in a house & not a motel or the usual type of accommodation. I was shown to a bedroom by Jason (who, it appears lives at the premises) & I asked if there was a key for the room. Jason said "No", so I kept my bags with me & left to do the couple of tasks I needed to do. On my return I was allowed to park my motorcycle on the driveway beside Jason's vehicle. When I carried my bags into the house there was a strong smell of faeces as if the toilet had not been flushed. I wanted a shower & the toilet used but not the reason for the smell. I knocked on Jason's door and asked him to find the reason for the smell & he said "Dad will do it in the morning". I went to my room. There was not a TV in my room or the lounger room, so I checked my email then I went to bed. Some time later I woke to find the bedroom door being opened, when I asked "Who is there" the door closed & I got up to lock the door. As soon as I woke on Wednesday morning I left the house more than 2 hours earlier than I needed to leave. I WOULD NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY AGAIN, even if I was paid me to stay. The Shower, Toilet & Vanity are shared - with Jason. & another's staying at this property. I did advise the online booking website on Wednesday morning & I have not heard from them since.

This place is very dirty. There was 2 male cleaners who for obvious reasons never cleaned. The pool is unsafe for adults let aloan kids...... I asked for a broom and a mop to clean the room I was in. (6 bed dorm) and was told there is a broom outside I proceed to grab a (industrial style broom) and was told to just sweep it would be fine. There isn't a dustpan or mop & bucket....... No cleaning at all has been done in 7 days..... There is an abanded house next door full of homeless drug addicts... I've been here for 7days. FULL OF LAZY WORKERS WHO DO AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. DUE TO CORONAVIRUS 19 You would think that people wouldn't be put in 6 beds dorms that are extremely small. THERE HAVING 6 PEOPLE in 4 bedroom dormitory. The kitchen is only available via booking an appointment with an allocated time frame to cook. The kitchen opens 11:00am till 01:00pm closes and reopens at 06:00 pm till 9:30pm Over lunch you get 1 hour allocated time (if available & per booked) Only 2 bookings available over lunch Also only 1 hour and 45 minutes allocated for cooking dinner... This place needs new management... I'm surprised there's not more reviews stateing the truth about this filthy place Well I don't recommend that anyone stay here unless there's a chance in the way it's ran.

Terrible Service

Reviewed By 305rumih

We booked a two room unit through Booking.Com, but we didn’t get service as Palmerston said that Booking.com cancelled our booking even though the site said the booking is still active. After some stressful negotiations they offered me an alternative one bed room unit which wouldn’t serve our purpose to stay for four of us. I was stuck in the situation which I didn’t have no where to go with three kids for three hours until finally I found an accomodation we were happy to stay. I’m not sure that which of them, Palmerston or Booking.com mixed up my booking but the lady at the new hotel told me that this has happened often with Palmerston. On top of this experience I was charged full amount of the accomodation fee which I didn’t cancel and am still fighting just to get full refund. The worst service I have ever experienced.
