Poor!

Reviewed By Molen61

My room was o.k., however the one of my colleague even not cleaned. Despite the fact we had to wait upon arrival because the rooms were almost finished. “Trainees”. Apparently the hotel is understaffed, which also was causing the poor breakfast during the first morning I guess. This must be fixed, the correct and friendly attitude can not be the only positive.

Wonderful stay in Salinas

All the good reviews are right; this is a very nice hotel. We were in the area to visit the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas. The hotel is conveniently located off the highway, has ample parking, the rooms are newly remodeled and everything is new and clean. We booked a King room but got upgraded to a wonderful large suite with a balcony which had views of the mountain in the distance. There was a gas fireplace, good TV and big comfy bed. It is also next to a bustling McDonalds and In-N-Out burger and actually kind of fun for us to watch all the cars lining up for the drive through windows for hours (we’re easy to entertain). The next morning, we had the best breakfast of the entire week long vacation. There were scrambled eggs and sausage, waffles with like 9 toppings (!) plus syrup and whip topping, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, toast, muffins, 3 kinds of cereal, 3 kinds of juice, coffee and 3 kinds of fresh fruit. The dining room was perpetually kept clean. All the staff at the hotel were friendly, helpful and efficient. We really enjoyed our stay and would return again.

Needs upkeep--as most recent reviews indicate

Reviewed By Likkle

First room I was assigned had a carpet so gross that I didn't want to step on it. Next room I was assigned had a flooded bathroom floor & broken security lock. Final room I was assigned looked fine, but it turned out the heater was broken. And there was no wifi (it was out all night for the entire hotel). I had car trouble, so I asked the desk clerk what restaurants were in walking distance. He said only the one across the parking lot. It may serve good Mexican food, but after waiting 40 minutes for the menu I requested when I arrived, I left. This place could be nice (and probably once was), but it badly needs maintenance. On the upside, the front desk staff was friendly, the bedding & towels were clean, & the complimentary breakfast was adequate.

Great location, a lot of noice, TV not working, and no breakfast display. Room had a wear smell. However, room and bathroom were cleaned. A called was made to the front desk to report the TV, without any response. During checkout the issue was mentioned to the personnel (btw was the same person that did the check in) and he does not knew about the report. When we ask about the breakfast, the staff told us: protein bars, coffee, and juice, really that is not breakfast they are snacks.

DO NOT STAY HERE

Reviewed By melissamerica

This is more a PSA than a hotel review. This place is THE WORST. We’ve been moved to 3 different rooms, all of which had something broken (important things such as the lock on the door, Heat/AC, TV. ) I didn’t think to go check everything out in the room beforehand, so we’ve had to pack and repack twice. The showers do not provide enough water pressure to rinse the shampoo from my hair. The beds suck. We eventually ended up stealing some of the comforters from one of the rooms they were they put us in just so we could stay warm. We tried to open the window to let a little cool air in, but they are bolted shut. (This makes sense, as there is a homeless encampment in the parking lot across the street.) I’ve literally begged the staff just to get us in a working room. For some reason it seems beyond anyone’s ability to remedy. Marriott should not associate itself with this particular hotel. You have been warned.

Residence Inn by Marriott Salinas Monterey

An absolutely FANTASTIC Stay!

Reviewed By Mrjoepoe

As a Marriott Titanium Guest, my best friend and I spent three (3) nights at The Residence Inn Salinas Monterey using three (3) Marriott category 5 certificates to enjoy the beauty that is Carmel-by-the-Sea, Monterey and Santa Cruz during Thanksgiving Weekend. Hannah was the Front Desk Clerk on duty throughout the duration of our stay and she was absolutely fantastic, both before our arrival (when we called ahead with our Special Requests) as well as the entire duration of our stay. Her customer service skills and hospitality were simply exemplary and were very much appreciated and welcomed. Similarly, the staff members on duty each morning for the complimentary morning breakfast spread where also outstanding as well. Using my Marriott Suite Awards, we were automatically upgraded in advance of our arrival to a two (2) bedroom, two (2) bathroom Suite with a gas fireplace on the Third Floor of the hotel for the duration of our stay, which was well-equipped with a full kitchen (which we used every night for dinner) in the common area, along with a large flat screen TV, a gas fireplace, a dining table as well as a spacious couch and two (2) bedrooms (each with a full bathroom, desk, closet and a flat screen TV). There were numerous parking spaces available throughout the hotel property so parking was never an issue. The complimentary morning breakfast spread was fantastic when we arrived each morning when it opened to avoid any large crowds, to have the best selection and to allow us to get out and about as soon as possible each day. The breakfast spread included all you can eat "make-your-own" waffles, scrambled eggs, some type of breakfast meat (bacon, ham or sausage), a wide variety of cereals (including oatmeal), bagels, toast, fresh fruit (bananas / apples / oranges), Chobani Greek Yogurt, coffee, tea, apple juice, cranberry juice, orange juice and water, It was a great way to start the day! We really enjoyed using the BBQ grill* in the outdoor courtyard patio area, which had a fire pit, an indoor in-ground heated pool (which was closed due to Covid-19 restrictions) and numerous seating areas plus we took full advantage of the fully-equipped kitchen every day for dinner. * We grilled steak and sausage using the BBQ grill ... they were exquisite and we definitely attracted a lot of attention from other hotel guests whom were jealous that they failed to plan ahead to take advantage of this incredible amenity. There was also a half-court basketball area for guest use. The Residence Inn Salinas Monterey is very convenient to the three (3) cities that we wanted to explore / hike throughout our long weekend, including Carmel-by-the-Sea, Monterey and Santa Cruz. We were easily able to get to each of these cities for a full day of exploration from the centrally-located and easily accessible hotel. All in all it was an incredible stay at The Residence Inn Salinas Monterey and we thank Hannah and the rest of her fellow co-workers for such a fantastic long weekend at their hotel to enjoy their hospitality.
