Hotel and Restaurant located in Ribes de Freser (El Ripolles), at the foot of the Catalan Pyrenees, at one hour and a half from Barcelona, offering a surprising combination of tradition and innovation. This family business has been operating for over ninety years and its atmosphere of a small, enchanting hotel captivates with comfortable bedrooms and personal, welcoming service.
Appalling. The annex is a dump.
Reviewed By Peter CI cannot recommend this hotel. I have seldom stayed in worse. The reception area looks modern and stylish, but we were put into the annex, a short distance up the street. The entrance was shabby, reminded me of a council estate block. The room was appalling. It was pokey, with hardly enough room to open our suitcases. The view from the French window (there was no other) was directly into someone’s living room, across the narrow street, together with washing. This meant that we could not open it without other people looking directly into our room, so we had to keep it closed and, in effect, we found ourselves in a room without any natural light. The bathroom was ancient. There were signs of rust in the bath. There was no window. The door made a loud screeching noise. The hair drier was weak. Although cheap, the shower did have good pressure. They only good thing about the room was that the air-conditioning worked. We did not eat there in the evening but we did have breakfast there. The breakfast itself was good. There was a full range of meats, cheeses and pastries and there was even fried eggs and bacon. The orange juice was cheap concentrate. Surprisingly, tables were not laid. There was no hotel serving staff on hand. We found ourselves sat at a table next to some of the hotel cleaners. It may be admirable that the hotel provides cleaning staff with breakfast, but when I am staying at a hotel I expect trained staff to be on hand and I do not expect to have to sit next to the cleaners. I can do that in any ‘greasy spoon’ café. A word of advice: Locals all seem to go on holiday at the beginning of July and just about every single restaurant was closed. We had already quickly learned the word ‘tancat’ – closed. It was everywhere.

A piece of heaven

We went to Angelats looking for some peace and tranquility and found more than that. Angelats is not just a hotel. It is a sensory experience. The staff did not spare any effort to make us feel as comfortable, relaxed and welcomed as possible. This is a place where you can stay in the property for the whole duration of your stay. It has everything, a pool, an amazing bar lounge, a fine dining restaurant and amazing hiking trails all within the property. Special thanks to Diego for his hospitality and selflessness when we needed rides to the town. To Ada who we we looked forward to seeing every breakfast and every dinner. To Cristina who made sure that all of our needs were met. We will absolutely make Angelats a permanent stop whenever we visite the region. Thank you so much and we hope to see you very soon. Reviewed By Pelias MThe best of this hotel is the sum of the good taste for the interior design, the right service without servility, a spa that is marvellous after hiking trips. Breakfasts that are not forked or too traditional, but is ok to any international visitant. They offer additional services and good advice, even with humor and professionalism. A round 10, no doubt. In fact, we were encouraged to try the restaurant for dinner and it was all a find, a good menu price per person (drinks aside) to be a hotel meal. The distance to Ribes can be done by walking if the physical state is good.

Great location, lovely friendly, family run hotel
Reviewed By Liz TWe stayed two nights at this lovely family run hotel at the beginning of June 2018, and loved the family atmosphere. The room was clean and comfortable (though not luxurious). We told them we were celebrating a special occasion and received a free upgrade in the room and a bottle of cava with our dinner (which was included in the room rate). The staff were very friendly and helpful -- we would definitely recommend it

Very Kind Staff
Reviewed By gloryredstarStayed for a night. The furniture was old but the services provided was excellent. Another downside was there was no lift available so we had to carry our luggage up to the 2nd floor. The set lunch served in the restaurant for delicious and it included a bottle of wine as well.

Very well located, simple, modern and of net design, offers all that you need to have a pleasent and confortable stay in this town of the Pyrenees Hotel has a restaurant, so you don´t need to look around to find a good place to have a meal Breakfast is very complete. Prices are good so it is a very good option if you are in the area.

The hosts were very friendly and offered advice on things to do and places to see. Would be nice if they added a BBQ. A few walks I would suggest that are nearby; Sant Antoni church Saldes/ Mirador Gresolet Salt de Grill walk Prat de Cadi

Reviewed By Klaudyna MI stayed in the campsite for three nights . It was a perfect place to go for a hike in Nuria. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The camping is clean and restaurant very good. I will definitely come back.
