THE PERFECT FAMILY GETAWAY

Reviewed By timmyrose

We stayed here for a family double celebration for 3N/4D. The booking was swift for us, Ms. Arvee from the reservation answered all my inquiries and catered to our special request for the set-up of the twin boys birthday (it really made us feel extra special). CHECK-IN: fast and well coordinated. We are given welcome drinks and cold towels to freshen up. HOTEL: Garden paradise, it is well kept. (though, expect lots of nature loving creature around you since it is a very lush garden inspired resort). POOL: Warm water and very clean. With kiddie pool 2ft thne main pool of up to 4ft. There's a deep pool as well of 7ft. RESTAURANTS: Food is quite good, must try 5 Cheese Pizza and Mozzarella Sticks. Kuddos to the staff who always give in to my off-menu request like the Cherry Margarita and Calamansi Shake. Shout out to the best staff Mr. Michael who knows my favorite drink already =) ROOM: Big enough for the entire family, and mu kids aren't the average cuties =) SERVICE: Really good, all the staffs are friendly and are willing to help as much as they could, good job to Jas of front office and Jojo as well. who always ask us as how our day was. PROS; Great for a family getaway, they have a lot of services to offer. Sports like kayaking, table tennis, badminton and lots more. They also have in-house Spa you can enjoy after a tiring day on the island. CONS: Wi-fi mostly is weak around the resort, i think this is something they should work on. Mobile Network on limited on the resort, close to non inside the room in Deluxe area. Insects, expected since it is in a greeny lush area so please bring your insect repellants especially to those with little ones like us.

Pros: 1. Exemplary frontdesk lady and doorman/bellhop (sorry I forgot their names). She was very welcoming upon receiving us, briefed us with the hotel policies and schedules (something most hotels neglect) and even asked us about our expected pick-up time. Also even if our tour is booked with a different travel agency, she still offered to lend us hotel towels. As for the doorman/bellhop, when asked about the restaurant we wanted to try he even offered to reserve us a tricycle and even told us that we could ask the same tricycle to pick us up after dinner. 2. We booked the panoramic suite and loved it so much that we wanted to ask about the architect and interior designer of the hotel. We had great views of the sea, a large private balcony, spacious sitting area/work station and a gorgeous bathroom. 3. The artistic touches of the hotel were fascinating. For example once you fill the tub with water, light reflects to the mother of pearl in-laid ceiling simulating sunlight reflecting off rippling water. A similar play of light can also be seen in the front desk giving it an under the sea vibe. We also loved the artpieces on display specially the ones made of abalone shells. 4. Breakfast buffet was varied and mostly good. 5. Location is excellent right in Coron town with several surrounding souvenir stores. It is about 10 minutes away by tricycle from Santino's and 15 minutes away by private vehicle from the jump-off point of island tours. Very minor negative observations that did not affect our stay: 1. Signs of wear, a few wall cracks and peeling pool tile surface colors. 2. Different colors of the window tint of our room and a few lime deposits on its surface.

I echo the comments from other reviews. A very comfortable hotel close to everything. Large rooms with fridge, safe and AC, even larger bathroom. International style restaurants are within walking distance and others are only a 50 peso ride by tricycle. A laundry service is available opposite the hotel Tours can be booked at the front desk. The breakfast buffet was good if a little monotonous. The manager Mr Jesse quick dealt with a few small problems on arrival and was very helpful during our stay. Good value for money- recommended.

More than Wonderful Resort and Staff!

Reviewed By Travellernut

This review is a few months late as I was traveling in US and Philippines. (I rarely review as I’m always traveling… 50-60 countries and counting). After almost 2 years of quarantining in hometown Davao, I was ready to travel once more and was excited for El Nido to finally open! My best friend and I are celebrating 40 years of friendship and where better to kickoff than the place that got us started with our love of travelling… Palawan!! We stayed a couple of days in a very nice beachfront resort close to El Nido Town (that’s another review)… so we could do all the island tours, restaurants, shopping and see the town. Then we decided the next half of our adventure would be more relaxed and just enjoy ourselves in a nice beautiful resort. What a wonderful experience!! Seda Lio is big, almost new, beautifully landscaped beachfront resort in the newly developed Lio Tourism Estate. The beach is wide (though the sand isn’t as white nor as fine as in the islands)… yet it was calm, clean, and with a backdrop of islands and awe inspiring sunset. The pool is huge, set in a sprawling garden. With Palawan just about to reopen to tourism, we were maybe 10 guests in a 150 room resort. Breakfast buffet was more than good enough although I can assume with more guests, it will be a bigger spread. There’s lots to to do in Seda. There’s shuttles that can bring you to a small shopping area, another to the jetty where a few restaurants are, free bamboo bikes, free canoe in the wetlands, and hiking up a little mountain. There’s a spa as well. We were upgraded to a suite room with a terrace fronting the pool and close to the beach. On our last day, Air Swift cancelled our flight when we were already in pre departure. They arranged for us to stay an extra 24-hours in Seda which is 5-minutes away. We felt like returning rockstars! We were given the suite next to the one we occupied which was already undergoing disinfecting when we checked out. I want to especially say, “thank you” to DEVINE at the reception. She made the difference between a great trip to one that was over and above incredible! We were text friends… we didn’t need to phone for anything as we could just ask or request by messaging her. It was also everyone else… from the resort doctor who checked on me as I was feeling a little dizzy when we arrived (maybe low blood sugar)… to the staff who were always gracious and welcoming carrying our stuff, room service, helping us with bikes and canoes, guiding us in hikes, and showing us the art of folding coconut leaves into hats and various animals. Never a dull moment in the several days we stayed with them. Also unforgettable was witnessing the release of over a hundred hatched sea turtles.l to the ocean. We hope to return one day again. See you!

Great stay!

Reviewed By Alexandra G

We stayed at Charlie’s for 10 days, and each day was perfect. The entire staff from the front desk, restaurant and housekeeping are all very friendly and professional. We had time to check out their restaurant at different times from breakfast to dinner and each time was delicious. Our stay had free buffet-style breakfast and they had good options ranging from continental breakfast items, traditional Filipino breakfast foods , and an omelette bar. They also have happy hour with buy 1 get 1 drinks from 2PM-6PM which we thought was quite long! Their signature mojito was my favorite. Our room was cleaned daily and everything was done well. We were very comfortable in our bed and the balcony in our Premium suite was perfect for relaxing in the morning and sunsets. We had a great stay! Highly recommend!

Paolyn Houseboats Coron Island

These new Houseboats (we also have a private italo filipino houseboat restaurant) are the first in their kind in Philippines and they are located in a pristine lagoon in the limestone island of Coron: National Park, Marine Reserve and Unesco site (Coron Island is different from Coron town that is located in another island named Busuanga). You can choose one entire private houseboat for yourself with big indoor and outdoor private areas (the Glass Houseboat, the favorite from couple in honey moon and small families, or the Paolyn Houseboat Original) or you can choose just one room. Each room has now its own private internal bathroom with shower (all with hot water except the Mini Houseboat), private dining area, private outdoor relaxing area (with private sun-beds and sun-umbrella) with private ladder to enter the sea. We will pick you up at the Coron/Busuanga airport (or in Coron Town) and bring you to our Houseboats (30 minutes Van plus 15 minutes speedboat). Transfers are complimentary. No pollution, no traffic, no noise. Amazing scenery with breathless landscape with steep cliffs and Karst rock formations made of Permian Limestone of Jurassic origin, it offers superb snorkeling and it is totally quite except birds chirping and splashes of fish. Clean and clear water. It is the only place where to sleep and eat in all Coron Island. Free use of Kayaks, Standup Paddleboards and snorkeling gears. Unlimited drinking water and free WIFI. Totally Eco compatible, they do not discharge any waste in the sea and they are totally off the grid with 24h electricity and fresh water. Each room has multiple tower fans and some rooms have also the air conditioning (optional with a surcharge).

Overpriced, Ridiculous Booking Process

Reviewed By Kim R

The food - Excellent. Right up there as some of the best available in The Philippines. The location - Excellent, but the mosquitos will get you in the evenings. The staff/service - Excellent. Everyone is so nice, friendly and accommodating. The room - Poor. Too cramped, I could not stand up in the shower or bathroom areas. I'm not a giant, I'm 6'1" Also very hot with not enough fans or effective air coolers. They want you to pay an extra 2,500pesos per night for aircon, which is a bloody joke considering how expensive this place is. The Tour - Very good, but expensive. Was charged for the tour, 10xentrance fees and 2x'fuel surcharge' fees. Entrance fees are not the fault of The Paolyn Boathouse of course, but leaves a bad taste in your mouth when it amounts to 3,700 pesos for a couple for 1xday tour. This is expensive considering its money for nothing. The fuel surcharge just feels like an excuse to pinch a bit more money off the guests. The Owner - Has done an excellent job of putting this place together and training his staff. However, he pays his staff 600pesos per day for an 18 hour shift. There are no scheduled rest days. Yes you read that right! They work 5am-11pm. We heard the same thing from 3 different members of staff. Don't believe the propaganda the owner pushes about how well his staff are paid. This would be true if he was hiring 2 people for an 18 hour shift. Given how verbose the owner is, I guarantee he will post an enormous floundering response to this review. The booking process - Terrible. The most difficult booking process I've encountered and I've been everywhere There is no simple automated method. You have to deal with the owner via WhatsApp for a long time going back and forth exchanging messages, when all you want to do is just pay. We were given 2 different foreign accounts to wire the money in to, (one in London and one in Belgium). This is off the Filipino radar and feels dodgy to me. Why wouldn't the owner prefer to automate the bookings? The Price - Too Expensive. I can understand why this place would be expensive. Its unique and the logistics of running this place is very time, labour and plant intensive. That said, this place still feels too expensive considering how much the owner pays his staff.

It was very nice in there, the people were very welcoming and always had the smile On their faces. We had our breakfast at sun mai and the resto was open until 10pm. They had happy hour from 3pm to 7pm and I must say food was great. Servings were big. During the day you can’t stay inside the tent as it was so hot. You can either stay on the pool side-they also serve food and drink or you can stay on the beach front. They also offer numbers of activity so you can choose which one you like to do. They have hatching area for turtles which was so good as well There were lots of dogs, I’m concern about their heath it appears to me that they all had that skin issue or something I hope the management will look into that too.
