Traditional family run hotel facilitating entrance to the Cevenne and Tarn Gorge.

The host/owner was very welcoming and attentive. The host supervised the excellent restaurant which served traditional Cevenne style food, locally sourced. The host attended to guest's smallest requests and also operated the reception at times. Accommodation was very comfortable. A beautiful rear garden area with a patio and swimming pool ( which was operating when I was there in early May 2022). This is a hotel to be highly recommended.

Dumb Mistakes

On the plus side, the staff appears to be nice, it is a quiet location, the rooms are clean if a bit funky, there is adequate parking and the rate fair for what is on offer The breakfast buffet is quite good. Normally I wait until the end of our stay (2 nights) to complete a review, but some things are so annoying I will write while I am fired up I am writing this review on my cell phone rather than my laptop, powered by my phone company 's roaming rather than the hotel's WiFi. Their WiFi is somewhere between awful and non-existent. I can raise a few simple pages, but any site with multiple pages routinely gets dropped. That is unacceptable. When we arrived, it was not clear how you could access the elevator. We had heavy luggage, and were unwilling to climb 20 or so stairs Someone eventually came down and opened the door. The code was provided at check in. There are several signs at various doors that masks are obligatory, but it is ignored, and no one asked to check our Health Pass. As far as I know, they aren't rationing toilet paper, but on our second day we were left with a third of a role for two people, a stupid mistake by a maid that just accepted a tip. When we returned from a day's outing, the elevator button was unresponsive. They were repairing the elevator, but no one bothered to leave a notice on the elevator itself. We have stayed at a number of Logis Hotels and appreciate their welcome and good value. I know a fair amount about the hotel business. It seems to me not everyone here is paying attention. I have already rated the brasserie. We will see about the gastronomic restaurant tonight. So far, we are inclined to look at other hotel options in the area.

A delightful village inn and a rural gîte situated on the route of St. James' Way. Les Granges de Bigose is a charming inn and a delightful gîte with beautifully decorated bedrooms which is located between Margeride and Aubrac in the county of Lozère. It nestles in the heart of scenic countryside and on the edge of a pretty, little brook.

A lovely location. Nice people.

We stayed one night here. The location is very quiet, in a pretty, secluded valley. The reception and the manager were very pleasant and helpful, and the evening meal was very good - the lamb was particularly tender and tasty. The room was fine if a bit basic, but it was still good value for the price we paid. Overall we enjoyed our stay here. Quite a unique place.

Delightful room

Reviewed By Mary B

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. Our room was in the Annexe across the road - a very large pleasant room, recently renovated and a lovely bathroom. We had a meal in the restaurant on our first night. We enquired at 1800 with a member of restaurant staff if we could reserve a table for later and were told 'no reservation' not even for hotel guests. They opened at 1915 - first come, first served. We arrived at 1930 to find the restaurant quite busy and as no staff member acknowledged our arrival we went to sit at an empty table. Eventually someone came over and asked if we wouldn't mind moving as this table was reserved!! We declined and the restaurant manager came over and said it was OK to sit there. The meal was very nice. However we decided not to return to this restaurant again during our stay after this experience. On paying the bill as we left - we had not only been charged for the meal we had eaten but several other incorrect charges for breakfast/meals were added. This required the same manager who we had met initially to come across to authorise the changes. He was not very pleased and not terribly polite.

Hotel okay but beware the restaurant

Hotel Tarn Review. We have travelled all over the World. If our experience is not 100% we normally communicate privately to the hotel. However having read the reviews of the Logis Hôtel du Gorges du Tarn there is a clear picture emerging so we will add our information for the benefit of visitors. Our twin room in the annexe was perfectly adequate, very clean & exactly as anticipated at the price. There is no lift which was not an issue for us but be prepared to carry luggage up & down stairs. We booked into the Restaurant l’Adonis. It seemed expensive but we had been driving all day & looked forward to something special. The young waiter seating guests ignored us when we arrived. He walked past us a number of times with no communication & eventually I stepped in front of him & he waved his hand vaguely in the direction of a table. We speak French well but the menu is complex. The waiter made no concessions to aid us with choice or explanation. Fortunately the charming receptionist intervened to help & provided us with an English menu. The menu du jour (€29) offered no choices. Boudin/black pudding, followed by Pigs cheek. An eclectic choice by the chef - the amuse bouche was pancreas foam. My husband chose instead to have the next option €43. A few pieces of asparagus with salad as a starter, a very bland whole trout accompanied by a piece of carrot, a piece of broccoli, a quarter of a tomato & a wedge of potato arranged beside it. We hadn’t ordered our dessert at the beginning as we weren’t sure what we would want. The young waiter - whose unhelpful attitude persisted throughout - now told us we’d have to wait 20 minutes as we hadn’t pre-ordered. The quality of the food simply does not justify the prices; the service was unpleasant. I would not hesitate to recommend a five minute walk into this lovely old town to one of the little restaurants where we had an excellent & simple meal for €13 the following evening.

Beautiful chateau and location but serious flaws

Reviewed By 55Chrispy

A beautiful old chateau in a stunning location. The hotel interior and rooms are splendidly authentic. Aside from a tiny bathroom (which I can forgive in the interests of authenticity) our suite was spacious, clean and comfortable with a lovely private terrace overlooking the river. There are pleasant grounds with access to the pool and walks along the river in which you can swim. You can also arrange for kayaks directly from the hotel. But this is a 4 star hotel with prices to match but in some respects it falls woefully short. During our 3 day stay, we saw no evidence of any management. There was no welcome, no introduction to the hotel or its facilities nor any offer to assist with our bags. Whilst not rude or unpleasant, some staff were quite scruffy and it was difficult to identify who worked there. There was engineering work being undertaken at the side of the hotel, but there was no apology for the noise and disruption in such a serene location. Strangely there was no menu displayed anywhere, neither at the hotel entrance to nor the restaurant. We quickly discovered why. The menu was somewhat unusual and not very appetising. Service was slow and we were not even given bread at the table until we asked for it. The food when it arrived was the most disappointing we have eaten in a French hotel of this standard and we have eaten in many 4/5 star hotels across France to be able to compare. The next morning we cancelled our table for the remainder of our stay.

Luxury stopover with excellent restaurant

Reviewed By DSFLM

Lovely place to stay, characterful chateau with attractive, peaceful grounds in a stunning location. Close to junction 32 of the A75 (our satnav took us off too early at junction 31, may need to watch out). Very welcoming, and we were given an upgrade in the chateau rather than the room we had booked in the annex. Due to the Covid situation, there was hardly anyone else staying there and the staffing was limited. There are interesting and quirky artworks in the hotel and grounds. We enjoyed drinks and 'apero' outside (including a whole salami in a special slicing gadget), watched over by some friendly donkeys from across the water. We had a good table in 'isolation' in a small turreted area of the restaurant, which has two forks in the Michelin Guide. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. A very enjoyable and relaxing stopover, very French and just what we needed after a long drive.

A great place to rest and eat

Excellent location , in the center of the small Meyrueis city. Warm welcome, nice environment. Clean and calm room overlooking one of the 3 small rivers irrigating Meyrueis. Good WiFi connection. We had our diner at the hotel restaurant and we had a great time, starting with a delicious apéritive , kind of Kir based on chestnut liquor. The starters and main courses were excellent : Roquefort salad, omelet with morilles ( wild mushrooms) , lamb gigot . A must is to taste the aligot, a blend of purée and fresh Auvergne cheese, cream and garlic . Nice desserts and good pitcher of local wine. Breakfast is classic. Overall , an excellent value for money, and a place we would certainly recommend.

Gorgeous spot, great value

What a beautiful location! We stayed for one night when we were on a 3 day kayaking trip. Stunning setting, a little walk to the town but a pleasant one and only takes 5-10 mins or so. The room was spotless, as was the bathroom. Little touches like having a washing line in the bathroom and having a mini-bar were hugely appreciated! The air con was fab, beds really comfy and we had a lovely welcome. Breakfast was one of the best of our ten day holiday and yet it was one of the cheapest stays. Would highly recommend.
