Our room was dirty. Debris on the carpet indicated it had not been thoroughly vacuumed. Your feet got black from walking on the carpet. Found hair on the bed sheets. Light fixtures were rusted. Cracks and crevices in the room were dirty. Curtains were ripped. The room smelled. The door had to be kicked to get it to close all the way. There was only ONE place to plug in a phone. And, given all this, the room was WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.

A welcoming spirit

Reviewed By wheninroam

I liked the local feel of this place as soon as I drove onto its well-maintained grounds with red brick buildings. And I enjoyed walking the grounds later and seeing the large American Elm tree which must be centuries old. Compliments to the gardeners! During my two-night stay, this Hampton sustained my initial impression. The Inn seemed to have a welcoming spirit, from the housekeepers (yes, I met some) to the gardeners to the breakfast manager. I was glad that the front desk provided maps and a list of restaurants that were open on Monday (very few in Lexington were). I was fortunate to reserve a room with a balcony, and I was able to sit outside in the evening. Other reviewers have mentioned a musty smell in the rooms. I had the balcony door open for a couple of hours each day and did not notice any. I always like the Hampton’s waffles for breakfast and I tried some of the other items as well—nice variety! Great location: an easy walk on Nelson Street to restaurants and shops, and there was a Kroger right across the street from the Hampton. My room was clean and quiet. It seems that I went from one of the worst Hampton Inns in Abington to one of the best here in one day!

Buyer Beware

I booked this hotel after reading reviews. I have never felt the need to write one, but wanted to protect others. Our hotel room was extremely dirty and smelled horrible (musty, damp and pet urine). The chair and carpet were horribly stained. The bathroom light didn’t work, but was fixed. However, we also reported that the air conditioning wasn’t working properly and that wasn’t fixed (and wasn’t able to get rid of the dampness). I reported the odor and the staff member described their intensive cleaning process used after pets were in the room, but offered no accommodations to us. She did say she would research and would charge the previous people a cleaning fee as they obviously didn’t report a pet!! I’m not sure how a housekeeper would have missed the stains and odor! We booked ahead, so they knew we were coming. Rooms are all pet friendly and there are no rooms reserved for those not traveling with pets. Breakfast was okay, but mediocre. The hotel was located in a quiet area and the beds were comfortable. However, I would not stay here again!

Poorly Maintained Hotel

The hotel is poorly managed and it’s not being maintained. There is mold in the air conditioner that is visible. There is a ring of dirt around the ceiling and the floors. They do not replace any of the paper signage and keep reusing it so it’s stained.

Helpful staff, room not very clean

Reviewed By Jenny D

I'm platinum for the IHG rewards and have stayed at quite a few Holiday Inn Express locations and while the staff here was very helpful and friendly, the cleanliness of my room was a big detractor. My A/C was filled with black mold and dust and blew fuzzy things out all over the carpet whenever it turned on. This may have been why the room smelled musty. Would be nice if the AC units were cleaned. The floor in the entry and bathroom were also extremely dirty and didn't seem to have been mopped in awhile.

The Hotel was very nice and clean. But they offer the Bare minimum. I had to ask for pen and paper. Maybe I expected more for $145.00. Restaurant And bar Looks really nice but it’s only open on the weekends. It look like they had an outdoor bar and patio on the second floor which would’ve been really cool if it was open.
