Reviewed By Kong_MingIt is a basic hotel, has what is needed but don't expect the frills. Room was clean and equipped with the basic needs. The room does not have a kettle - it is a basic hotel. Location is fairly accessible in the area. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Reviewed By 6530bx4This is a very clean modern hotel in good neighborhood with dining and shopping nearby. Nice breakfast options. Andrea at the front desk was pleasant and helpful. I've been at three Holiday Inn Express hotels in Europe. There's good news and bad news about that. If you're from the U.S. these hotels in Europe are not like ours. Rooms are furnished minimally but functionally and are very clean (cleaner than many of ours). The down side is the minimal furnishing of things that could really be used in Europe but missing, i.e., no refrigerator, microwave, guest laundry or even an ice machine. These are things we expect at most of their U.S. properties. A *big* issue in my hotel was lack of heat! The HVAC kept blowing cold air no matter what the thermostat was set at. Would I stay here again? Yes, but I would still be disappointed at what's missing.

Reviewed By KcomfortThe hotel is a bit difficult to find at first but it was definitely worth the search. It's a very nice property, well maintained and clean. The room was very spacious and the bed very comfortable. There is a small kitchenette in the room as well. The staff is exceptionally welcoming. I had dinner one night in the restaurant and it was really very good. There are a span and fitness room on the premises but I did not use the services. All in all, it was a very relaxing stay!

Major changes and terrible place
Reviewed By oliverwooburnThis is the 4th year that we go to this place, but this year the place has changed dramatically. We arrived on Saturday, and used the pool using our shorts, all fine. Sunday same all fine. Monday we are stopped when entering the pool area by a very abrupt 20 year old supervisor, asking me if i have my swimming trunks or speedos under my shorts, so i said no, she then refuse to allow me to swim as i have not following the rules. So all other sudden the place has new swimming rules , i asked to speak to the Manager who eventually showed up and basically i am wrong and she is right, apparently this is a common rule in France, so at the end we had the follow their rules but it gets even better. Some people still swim in shorts but the staff cant be bothered to police the people. the entertaining team swim in the pool with their shorts !!!! and to add to this the entertaining team did a game where people had to swim with a dress on from one side to the other in pool. Entertainment was shockingly bad, now that Loic has left and the food was terrible, toilets were so dirty So i am afraid we wont be returning to this place and my advise to management and staff, if you apply a new rule then inform the customers and don't just pick some random days that suits, and apply the rules to everyone. As for the 20 year old supervisor then learn how to respect customers and spend less timing doing your nails and concentrate on supervising the pool area. Avoid the place

Staff are really friendly, hotel lobby is really clean and tidy, looks like the place has recently been renovated (renovated nicely too may I add) Good secure parking. Beds comfortable with nice bedding, although the room is a tad small it’s still big enough for two, Air con is new and works great. Bathroom is small BUT very well equipped, the shower is really good and powerful. Can’t fault the place, I haven’t had breakfast yet so will have to wait and see for that one. Walked into town it’s a little out of the way but it’s an easy walk. There are a couple of bicycles out front that I think are available to rent so that’s an option alternative to walking or driving into town.

We back 3pm reception was quiet still not possible to check-in. Went back 4pm there was a long line waiting to check-in. We asked for a higher floor room and was told not possible as they were full. Had a handicapped room on ground floor. Walked into room immediately smell urine, bathroom is old n stain. It is summer 28°c no fan provided and balcony facing lake welcoming mosquitoes so not possible to leave doors opened. Room is stuffy and smelly. We paid €140 a night, and we stayed 2 nights so €280 for no service, smelly and stuffy room. First and last we ever booked with this chain group of hotels.

Comfortable stay -- and you don't have many choices
Reviewed By marcopolo1964For the 100th time, I wish Tripadvisor had a rating that was just ``good.'' This hotel is fine, nothing more. My room was modern and clean in that barren Ikea way. It's well located near the harbour. I took a slightly a expensive room on the backside and it was totally silent. The staff was friendly. Breakfast could have been a bit more generous. I needed a place to stop for the night and Hotel de France did the job. I've paid less for simple hotels of this sort, but beware that there are not many choices along this stretch of coast. Arcachon has a few hotels (and even there not so many given what a well known report it is), but there are hardly any along the bay side if you are coming from Bordeaux. I don't know why.

Small and no aircondition!
Reviewed By Cheryl CFacade looks very charming but upon entry was disappointed with the room it was extremely basic, small and very dusty. Being on the ground floor and there was no air conditioning, we were reluctant to sleep with windows unlatched. The shower a small base would seemed impossible for a XL sized person to even be in it let alone shower. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless the management t improves its facilities.
