Decent but dated hotel

Reviewed By Itswendyoutside

We liked the location of this hotel. It is right next to a small water park, and just a few blocks to the beach and a CVS if you forget anything. There is mini golf in the breezeway and jet ski/charter rentals on site. The hotel is definitely older, and bathrooms had pretty poor ventilation. However the beds were comfortable and served it’s purpose. Definitely feel like it was a bit pricey for the quality. The restaurant on site is ok. Decent food but fairly good drinks and live music.

$10 room million dollar view

The place is lacking repairs and upgrades. But if you just want a clean room with a comfortable bed with great view and location this is your place. Friendly staff and good maid service. We got clean fluffy towels every day and an offer to clean and make the beds. The pool area is nice, but then again lacking maintenance. Great beach location less than 100 steps to the sand and the ocean with beach chair service right there. So in my opinion if you're not wanting a fancy place check it out. Word is they are going to be renovating it in the future, so there goes the price. We stayed for the view and location, it's awesome, room OK.

Sunshine Cozy Cottages

These lovely, quaint cottages complete with their old-fashioned porches may seem to be from another era; that is because they are. The 14 cottages that comprise Sunshine Cozy Cottages date back to pre-WW II, ca. 1930. Originally built at MacDill Air force Base as officer’s quarters, the cottages remained on this military base through the 2nd World War and were eventually brought down to Indian Rocks Beach by barge around 1945 where it became one of the first resorts on the beach and today remains one of the few original resorts that started the Gulf Beach trend.

Gulfside Resorts

For 30 years we have been in search of hospitality excellence here in our coastal village of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. We wish to share the peace, tranquility and sense of place that this bohemian location has brought to our family and community. We personally invite you to partake in our version of the beach week; offerings of direct gulf-front and thoughtfully restored and furnished 20th century cottages all designed with Old Florida in mind.

Another FANTASTIC week!

Just returned from our week at Indian Rocks Inn (Gulfside Pavilion), and it was just as great as our previous 3 times! Traveled with another couple and we had such a blast! Met some great people (upstairs neighbors from Chicago, people behind us from Canada), did a lot of relaxing by the pool and on the beach, we did a sunset Tiki Boat ride from Florida Tiki Tours (HIGHLY RECOMMEND!), but mostly enjoyed the property. Grabbing dinner from Kooky Coconut and eating on our patio, something we did more than once. The sunsets from the beach just cannot be beat! Whether you're just a couple or with a group, this place is definitely the place to stay!

BeachTrail Lodging

Charming 2 bdrm. Center of seaside beachtown on Beach Trail & Waterfront Park. Newly remodelled and well-stocked. Prime location: heart of Indian Rocks Beach. In the Indian Rocks Beach narrows midway between Clearwater - St. Petersburg beaches. An Old Florida flat less than 100 yards to the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico and adjacent to a waterfront park (next to Splash Harbour Waterpark). A quiet street more private than a high-rise. Easy strolling to coffee bars, seafood shacks, bars, live music, restaurants, and stores. Indian Rocks Beach is less crowded than St. Pete /Clearwater and family-friendly. Waterfront picnic area steps away. Walk your dog here or on the boardwalks. Many extras included: full bath, full kitchen, dishwasher, east and west patios, free wi-fi, HDTV, laundry. Neighborhood Overview: The location of the condo is great.. you have two parking spaces in front of the door, but you can leave the car parked the entire stay if you want to. Wake up, walk half a block to the Lighthouse Coffee Shop — grab a latte and pastry or croissant sandwich. Wander over and enjoy breakfast by the sea. For lunch and dinner there is a wide variety to choose from: seafood restaurants, a steakhouse, wonderful pizza, Mexican, gourmet Italian, ice cream and homemade sweet shops... all within a few blocks. Do you want to send Postcards? Walk to the local post office. Visit the Indian Rocks History Museum on the next street. Rent bikes, kayaks, paddle boards or jet skis. Take a seat on the sightseeing boat tours... fishing charters are there at the Holiday Inn too. Have a ball at Splash Harbour Water park — all virtually next door! Everything you'll want and need is within a short walk. To go further afield along the gulf beaches you can hop on the trolley. Getting around: If you bring your own vehicle you have two parking spaces at your door at no charge during your stay. Rent bikes (both beach and street bikes), kayaks, paddle boards or jet skis on Gulf Blvd. There is a beach trolley for a few bucks (over 65 is less). Uber, Lyft, and cabs are readily available. It's a mile drive off the peninsula across the bridge to supermarkets and more restaurants; and the Tampa Bay area communities. Space: The condo is in the Indian Rocks narrows- so called because the land is “narrow” between the Intercoastal and the Gulf of Mexico. Further afield from Indian Rocks Beach: We are convenient to Clearwater Beach, (home of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium) and only 30 min to St. Pete Beach, Downtown St. Pete, Tropicana Field, Dali Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Chihuly permanent exhibition and 45 minutes to Tampa and Ybor City. Or, take a day trip to Orlando to visit Walt Disney World or Universal Studios (1.5 hours)

Everything was BETTER than expected!

We booked this hotel somewhat last minute. Friends of ours, who we hadn't seen in years, were traveling to Disney as part of the "Make a Wish" to celebrate their little boy's victory over cancer. They were going to have one free day to see us and wanted to meet at a beach. Finding a reservation at the end of spring break in Clearwater (our first thought) was just impossible, so I began to look further south and found Beach Trail Lodging. It was close to the beach and reasonably priced so we booked it. We had no idea what a lucky pick this would be! We were traveling with my husband and my three kids, plus when we discovered it was dog-friendly (the apartment, not the beach) we added the dog to the bunch. We arrived prior to the check-in time and figured we would just walk around and waste time till we could get in. We were warmly greeted and he suggested a dog-friendly restaurant. He also said they would try to speed up the check in, which they indeed did! The apartment is literally a minute walk from the beach and the beach is perfect. It is fairly narrow but not crowded which is perfect when you are trying to carry a gazillion chairs, towels, toys, coolers...etc for a family of 5 that's gonna meet up with a family of 7! There is a small parking lot at the entrance of the beach (parking is limited) but if need be you can pull up and dump your stuff and drive your car back to the apartment where you are given two spots. Or you can just walk, it's literally a stone's throw away. At the entrance of the beach there is a beach shower and a boardwalk about 10 yards long that puts you on the beach and you can dump your stuff to the left or right without walking far at all. It's also extremely helpful that the apartment provides you with a Beach wagon with the big fat wheels to help you carry your stuff, plus 4 beach chairs. Back at the apartment, we were so suprised by all the amenities waiting for us. There was a huge gift basket for the humans with snacks and helpful info and a second huge gift basket for the dog! The dog's basket included a couch cover if your dog likes to sit on the furniture, a dog brush, dog toys, a water and food bowl, a lint brush, dog treats...etc (they charge $20/day for the dog up to max $50). Right next door to the apartment is a small park with a path for walking the dog, a beach volleyball court, picnic table (which we took advantage of the day our friends arrived to have a big picnic lunch before heading to the beach), and beautiful views of the water of the causeway (bay?i inlet?) and the boat's passing by. Inside the apartment there was also a little gift basket of covid related stuff (wipes, masks, disinfectant...etc). The other amenities were also great, salt, pepper, dish detergent, trash bags, coffe and tea, coffee maker, blender, toaster, microwave... and a lot more! Nothing was missing. In the living room there were several board games for the kids and more in the bedroom closet. The bathroom was equipped with shampoo, conditional, body wash, makeup wipes, hairdryer...etc. There was a lovely back balcony off of the one bedroom. It was very spacious and although it didn't have a few, the green of the trees at that level made for a very cozy, private comfortable area to have breakfast or a late night appertiv! Although the apartment on a whole was a fairly humble abode, it was just perfect for us with one queen room, on king room, a couch, bathroom, and small kitchen fully-equipped. Mary, Dave, and Nancy (cleaning lady) are the only people I interacted with at the apartment but they were quick to respond and were extremely friendly and helpful. They even gave us a complementary late checkout when I inquired about staying an extra day (I loved it that much) but they were booked and couldn't accommodate us. The location was just perfect. It was not near the craziness of Clearwater and retained that small town feel. There were plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. One night we did drive down to Johns Pass Boardwork and that was very pleasant. We also took our dog to the dog park that was half a mile up the road and that was a lot of fun and had a nice natural preserve walk. We honestly had a perfect weekend and it was the perfect way to celebrate our friends' son's recovery from cancer. They only joined us during the day on Sunday, but everything was absolutely perfect for that day. We will definitely be back! I wish I was still there!

Hamilton House #304

Reviewed By Shortney21

Love Hamilton House and enjoy staying here every year. This year we were a group of 5 staying for 2 weeks. Pool is great. Beach is great. Location is great. AC was nice and cold. Coffee pot was good. No problem with washer or dryer. However, we will not be returning to Unit #304. It was the last one available and now we know why. Upon arrival kitchen disposal wasn’t working, master toilet was running constantly, master bath light was constantly on as light switch was messed up and master tv was terrible. Had to shimmy antenna to get rid of all the lines on the tv screen and hang it on the corner of the tv and the color was shot. Master mattress is like a mattress on a pull-out sofa. Outdoor table is all rusted and wobbly as it’s missing a support under one leg. And if you cook it could use some more utensils. No tongs, the only kitchen knives are two bread knives to chop with, and barely any Tupperware. Only 7 forks for 5 people so you gotta wash every time. But you are in luck if you want to have a tea party as there is a full tea set. The queen bed had twin sheets on it so they kept coming off. No extra towels. And the roof started leaking in the center of the unit our last two days there. Electrician never showed up to fix light switch and called about water leak but nobody ever came to fix it. Hopefully the owners will read this and give Unit #304 the attention and updates it needs. We will return next year to another wonderful stay at Hamilton House just in a different unit.

We have stayed at two places here. The ones were in are on 15th street. They are nice 2 bedrooms 2 baths Nice patio. Close to restaurants. There are 5 within walking distance. They are all different as far as condition and how they are run. They are about 75 feet from the beach so its easy no driving. We have one reserved for next year already but it is another one.

Absolutely thrilled and enjoyed our stay at SunTiki Cottages! As a couple we booked Castaway Cottage, but out of the kindness of owner, Gary Day, was upgraded to Sunset Cottage. The cottage was immaculate, well decorated, well supplied with everything from beach chairs and umbrella to Keurig coffee and because not being a hotel or condo felt very private and homey. The pool and spa were fabulous and it was just a few steps to the beach. We Ubered to the cottage from PIE airport for $20 and just walked to the restaurants. A fabulous vacation and have every intention on returning. Thanks Gary
