We had experienced one other Holiday Inn Exp. with the same layout as this hotel has. it gives you a lot of light and a lot of places to set things. Large rooms, good beds, lots of light but a little wait for hot water. We did have an incident regarding a barking dog but the situation was handled rapidly and we had no further problems.

Impressed with the hospitality

One of the greatest assets of this hotel is the staff. The manager at this hotel, Leticia, is welcoming and friendly. She was extremely attentive and her kindness motivated us to spend an extra night. She made sure the breakfast of biscuits and gravy, eggs, waffles, yogurt (Chobani!), muffins, bagels, etc. was well stocked each day. We enjoyed that the hotel was easy to access but distanced from town. The rooms are older, and though the furnishings have the feel of a rustic cabin, they are being updated and the mattresses were comfortable. The pool was a fun experience, and the hot tub felt great after a long day on the slopes. Though the hotel is close to the highway, somehow it felt more isolated and quiet. While we may have preferred to stay closer to the ski resort, after this experience, when we return to Gunnison, we will stay at this homey place.

2022 ski road trip

Reviewed By iainhp

Selected this hotel largely on the price and reviews on TripAdvisor. Can't beat the price - and breakfast is included. We rode up a ski lift with a couple staying in Crested Butte (the town) and they almost fell off the chair when I told them what we were paying. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is of an older style but it is clean and well maintained. The rooms are cosy, warm and clean, the bed comfortable, and the shower more than adequate. It's also nice to be able to park your vehicle directly outside the room - makes hauling ski gear into the room very easy. The breakfast is good - couple of hot dishes available, along with cereal, toast, coffee and tea. The Crested Butte ski area (and the town) is approximately a 35 minute drive away.

Expensive mistake

I'll start by saying the mattress and pillows were comfortable. It goes down hill from there. Dark, outdated furniture and carpet. One desk chair and one lounge chair that was dirty. The bathroom sink had been updated but the toilet/shower room was gross. No towel rack or hooks. Mold dotted all the way around the perimeter and if I had bleach, I'd have cleaned it just to feel better since there were no vacancies elsewhere in town. We opted not to try breakfast. We expected better for the $170 we paid.

Was suppose to stay 2 days, but left after one night. The television didn't work, was blamed on the signal after gentleman came up to try and fix it, didn't work the next day either. Bathroom very tiny, hardly enough room to turn around, dented up refrigerator and the stand all chipped up. Window sills were dirty, place needed a good cleaning, hallways reeked of smoke. Needed some updating, very shabby.

Hotel was difficult to locate with a GPS. It is hidden behind a Wells Fargo Bank and has poor signage. We were in KNS suite 325 since desired hotel space was limited in Gunnison. The room seemed spacious with two separate areas. One had a jacuzzi, couch, broken coffee table and TV, The sleeping area had desk, bed, TV on drawer unit, mini fridge w/o freezer, and microwave. Bed was soft. Bathroom was basic. Other issues included antiquated HVAC system without temperature controls. Televisions were difficult to operate until we swapped remotes and finally got them to function. Phone system in hotel was not operational. Breakfast was the basic Comfort Inn fare. All in all, our stay proved frustrating and expensive. At best this was average. We would not recommend.

The room and hot breakfast next morning were the best yet after 16 days on the road. The room was clean , spacious and well- appointed. Bed comfortable and quiet surroundings!

Worst!

Reviewed By MommaBCabot_AR

Do not stay here. First we were greeted by the sign with a political message. Not cool econolodge. Maybe you need to focus on a better guest experience! We stayed in the “family room” with 3 queen beds. The room was in some sort of annex tacked on the end of the building. The floor was a vinyl tile that hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. It was covered in dirt and hair. The beds were extremely poor quality. They were all sunken in and crazy soft. They need to update. The next morning we had spiders coming out of our bags. I mentioned these things to the front desk and she acted like that was normal for that room! They did make an attempt to have breakfast by preordering by phone. We stay at a lot of choice hotels but this one was not up to par!
