Clean & convenient basic hotel

Reviewed By saikou

Basic clean hotel right in front of Fukushima train station. Nothing fancy. Beds on the hard / lower end side so if you're a picky sleeper you might not sleep well. Hotel restaurant (where the included breakfast is served) is actually a national chain of cheap izakayas known for being very cheap but not very good, so I'd skip the breakfast.

Good value for money and location

Reviewed By JapanCustomTours

better than average because I think the value for money is very good (maybe cheaper to book direct rather than booking site), and the location was excellent. Room was ok. Lots of scuff marks and cracked toilet and basin. But bed was very comfortable. I had a good sleep and that was important. The restaurant had last order at 8:30 - this is a regional location - and the staff (front desk and restaurant) were Japanese (surprise - this is Japan) so don't expect much English. I actually kind of liked my stay. If I was passing through again I would stay here again. Would I recommend it - yes, for family/friends on a budget I thought it was pretty good.

A Nice and clearn tidy hotel. Very Convinient location, a lot of restaurant near by. But front desk staff was not very helpful. Good breakfast, but a small space, so it was so crowded around 7:30. Hard to find the seat.

Standard Toyoko Inn, plus alpha

Reviewed By Ken N

As a Toyoko Inn Club Card holder, I receive a modest discount on Toyoko Inn stays and earn points in a pay for 10 nights, get one night free system. Even without a discount or points, Toyoko Inns are good value hotels generally located near important train stations. The rooms are small, clean, and quite uniform throughout the chain. Toyoko Inns differ in one respect: breakfast. Always part of the package, breakfast can be as simple as rice and/or bread with miso soup and coffee, or more elaborate. This Toyoko Inn is among the ones with a nicer breakfast. I stayed for two consecutive nights. First morning's breakfast included meatballs, tamagoyaki (Google it), sea- and land-vegetables, multi-grain rolls, rice, miso soup, coffee, and orange juice. Next morning's breakfast was substantially the same, but with wieners instead of meatballs. Gourmet? No. Toyoko Inns are working to achieve a price point. Satisfying? Yes. Let me add that in late middle age, with an indoor job, I don't need to eat so much. But this Toyoko Inn attracts outdoor workers involved in Fukushima's reconstruction, and they seem satisfied with the breakfast. It is all-you-can-eat. Toyoko Inns attract diverse clientele, but I have never encountered disruptive noise in the middle of the night. Hotel guests are not allowed to entertain (non-registered, non-paying) visitors in their rooms. Smoking vs. non-smoking seems to be separated by floor, so smoke odor has never been a problem, either. I live on the outskirts of Fukushima City, so it is sometimes convenient to stay overnight in the city center. This trip was such an occasion.

Little better business hotel at the station

Reviewed By Kimulus

The hotel is located at the Fukushima station so it is very easy for travellers. The staff do not speak very much English, but everything went well. The room is little bigger than average business hotel in Japan and there was also a humidifier. You can notice some wear but it was OK. I noticed some tobacco smell in the room. You can have a nice view to mountains and there was a breakfast included in the price. You can select Japanese or western style. The western breakfast had a sausage so I selected the Japanese and it was fine.

Central base to explore.

Reviewed By Wobblybaker

Stayed at this hotel during a study trip around the Fukushima prefecture. Apart from the single room being a bit small but very clean and tidy, this hotel was very good. Staff were very pleasant, everywhere was clean and tidy. Didn't use the bath because of my tattoos( I wasn't allowed in , rules). Breakfast was more or less a Japanese selection but with a few Western food items. This hotel was a good location for exploring Fukushima City, 10 min walk from the train station and shops. lots of places to eat and explore within 10-15 mins walk from hotel. Overall this hotel is very good and I would recommend it if you were looking to stay in Fukushima City.
