Reviewed By Keeley2305This budget hotel is good value for money but don’t have big expectations. Ensuite is quirky almost like a bathroom in a motor home! Towels are small and only 2 pillows on the bed. But it was clean, had a secure car park and cheap! About a 15 min walk into town so take that into account when booking. Friendly staff.

Reviewed By Sophy70We stayed for a long weekend. Our room was very nice; beautiful high ceilings and classical style; the pool was lovely but I would hesitate to say the hotel was 5 star overall. We ordered the charcuterie platter and the cheese platter in the bar one evening and they were disappointing. Seemed like the same stuff from breakfast. We had platters at other places in town which were fantastic with lovely local produce so I was surprised to get something mediocre. Staff were very friendly but when asking for a dinner recommendation we were shown a tatty looking list of restaurants. I would have expected more of a concierge type service. Our bed was two single beds mattresses made into a king which meant we had quite a big join down the bed and we basically slept in single beds side by side. We had a good time but I would stay somewhere different for my next visit to the area.

Reviewed By K1550AUjomWe were a little bit confused when we’re arrived as we couldn’t find the reception area…. It’s in another building altogether. The whole place feels more like a hostel than a hotel and our room was very basic but fairly comfortable for one night. There seems to be a lot of workmen staying there and the car park was full of vans and it was quite noisy. Breakfast was nice with lots of choices. We would probably stay again but not for more than one night.

The beds aren’t the most comfortable, and the lack of outlets and working outlets is disappointing. But there is nothing special about it, except the location. The location is spot on for the most part. It’s easy to get to the train station as well.

Cheap and cheerful but no ventilation
Reviewed By TheJ0hns0nsThis was booked last minute so went for the location and happy to go cheap and cheerful as it was only 1 night and were out all day. Given the price point most things were acceptable, nothing fancy, no frills and that’s okay. Everything was neat and very clean. The problem lies that there is no ventilation in the room. -no windows or AC. We didn’t notice until late at night, after dinner. There is a random door to the garden and car park outside but no screen and no way we were going to leave it open through the night. So of course the room got stuffy and uncomfortable to sleep in. Not sure on the laws in France but think rooms should offer some form of ventilation.

Reviewed By Christian CPerfect location at the top (or bottom?) of Avenue de Champagne in Epernay. Close to pretty much everything you might want to do in town. It's not a huge chain hotel, and doesn't have a large number of rooms. We had two rooms, on separate floors, which suited us fine. The rooms were large enough for two persons with (small) suitcases. Clean and comfy. One room had a safe, the other didn't, not sure if this was a coincidence, but I'm sure it could be discussed with the staff if needed. Wasn't an issue for us. We had dinner in the evening. Mainly a tapas-based menu, which was perfectly fine. The portions were large and filling, and went well with a bottle of Champagne. Breakfast was good. Very bread-based, but with high quality bread. Not a huge selection as in larger resort hotels, but what they had was high quality, and definitely enough to fill anyone up, and there was something for everyone. The staff was friendly and efficient. We were called on the day of arrival. There is a gap in the afternoon when the reception isn't staffed. We weren't aware of this, but since they called and informed us we could plan accordingly. It's understandable, since it's a small establishment. The hotel has a collaboration with a Champagne house down the road - A. Bergere - definitely worth a visit as well. Definitely recommended for a few days' stay in Epernay.

Delightfully charming
Reviewed By Matthew CWe recently enjoyed a 4 night stay during the Easter weekend in what was a wonderful experience. The two hosts were fabulous, the property beautiful and our room full of character and romantic charm. We were welcomed upon arrival with a glass of bubbles in the small, but pretty courtyard, having been dazzled by the decor of our room and magnificent view from the window. The breakfast was also of a very good standard and kitchen amenities plentiful. Highly recommended as a base for champagne tasting in the area

Expensive for what it is

When you look at the pics you might believe that this hotel is located in a magnificent park, but it is rather a modest garden at the back of a champagne house. At night a constant humming from there can be heard. Now there is nothing fundamentally wrong with this place, but for almost 500,- € for 2 nights (breakfast included), I find the place rather pricey for the smallish room you get. No separate shower, you have to stand in the bath tub, doing your best not to flood the bathroom. The two ladies who assist the elderly owner are very friendly and efficient. Again on the positive side, there is free parking and many Champagne houses are just around the corner. Downton Epernay is about 12 - 15 min walk, but let’s face it: as opposed to Rheims or Troyes, the Epernay city center is quite dull, and even the wine shops in town are less exciting than in Rheims. In the unlikely event I returned to Epernay, I would choose a different hotel.
