Reviewed By René AThe hotel is average, the rooms are not bad and they all have nice balconies. The staff are pleasant. The breakfast is horrific, the worst I have ever seen, left overs from the night before, mostly cold, juice from a machine which taste like a chemical. Coffee machine which is terrible. Eggs swimming in oil, some days there was nothing I could eat, pancakes cold. I have nothing good to say about the breakfast. Positive parking was free and easily accessible. Bus loads of French tourists come daily and they are extremely obnoxious, they think they are in France, no effort to speak a few words of Spanish and extremely noisy. Swimming pool so cold it is unusable. Fitness room with more than half of the equipment defective, pretty useless and also unusable but gets a start I guess. I was involved in a hotel fire some years ago in Luxembourg where the fire and smoke detectors failed to work. Since that day I ALWAYS check the fire escapes. I was initially on the 9th floor where the WIFI does not work. I walked down the fire escape which took me 2 minutes to find it lead to the swimming pool. If you are trapped here you are dead as you are close to the potential smoke, flames and the building falling down on you. The two potential exit routes are towards the mini gold or the kids playground, both gates were locked therefore not emergency compliant. I moved to the 3rd floor and went down the stairs, this lead somewhere else but eventually I ended up at the swimming pool. If you value your life then I would avoid this hotel. It is allowed to smoke in the rooms and that worries me a lot. Safe is extra but reasonably priced.

Attractive campsite but will not return
Reviewed By 90felicitycWe stayed this weekend for two nights in two adjacent bungalows with our daughter, Spanish son in law and two grandchildren plus dogs. An attractive location but certainly not 500m from centre of Empuriabrava and restaurants - the receptionist warned us it was a 20 minute walk and about 1.4kms and gave us a map and explained the route For our family it was a long walk along a very busy road, most of which had no pavement. It was worth the walk but we had made a provisional reservation for a week next July and we wanted to ear out most days - too far! So that evening we ate at the campsite restaurant. Very disappointing . The worse croque monsieur ( ham and cheese toastie) ever , pre cooked frozen food reheated. Like a fast food outlet . We are used to Spanish campsites with a “ menu” and local cuisine or at least fresh fish, meat and vegetables. We were told the check ces were usually the same on the summer. However the beach was lovely, the pool beautiful ( though carry your own chairs ) , and there were some lovely camping pitches . The dogs were happy and the children liked the sports area. So we went to the reception to see if one of the pitches we liked was available for our selected dates. But we were told you cannot select a pitch in advance ( just a category size wise) , not even fur a premium price, and it is first come, first served . It was recommend we arrived at 7h00 on the arrival date and would then be told which pitches would be free later that day and then we had to hang around the campsite until the previous campers departed but that there could be arguments lasting hours between campers! Unbelievable. Maybe our receptionist had had a bad day but campers we spoke to said the same! Let’s hope the booking system is improved in the future!

The Hotel Castel Blanc is an old Masia renovated, full of charm. It is located in the bay of Rosas, in the largest inhabited marina in the world. The swimming pool, sun loungers, mini golf court and games room (table tennis and foosball) are free access for our guests. El Hotel Castell Blanc es la primera construccion hecha en Empuriabrava. Desde la llegada al hall de recepcion el ambiente esta puesto: una antigua masia renovada para ofrecer al viajero un verdadero refugio de paz. Autentico, le sorprendera, el cambio esta garantizado. Sus caracteristicas lo llevaran a un espacio de calma y relax. 58 habitaciones repartidas en 4 plantas, todas con aire acondicionado, equipadas de bano, WC, secador de cabello, telefono, television satelital y radio. Ascensor y parking cerrado con video vigilancia. A 2 km de la playa, podra disfrutar de aparcamiento seguro y gratuito. Los restaurantes, bares y discotecas estan a al menos 10 minutos a pie.

Reviewed By aleksandran1711The hotel is not located close to the beach, however it is an eight minute drive by car which is not bad. The staff are really friendly, the continental breakfast was very good. Nice and clean swimming pool. Free parking next to the hotel was a plus. The rooms were clean but a bit outdated and could benefit from redecorating, it didn’t however bother us much. Overall we have really enjoyed our stay.

Reviewed By TonneslandThis is the forth time i have booked and once again the girls made me feel welcome. Room was as always clean and well presented. Planning another trip in June and will book here once again, if you are looking for the freedom of staying in an apartment rather than a hotel then this is the place to go:) For those who dont know the area the apartment building is situated on a quiet street with parking over the road. A 3 minute walk and you have access to the beach, shops, supermarket, cafe etc so very central.

very rude and unwelcoming manager/owner
Reviewed By Christian LI stayed at Ampuria Inn for 1 night, it was supposed to be 2 but unfortunately due to flight delays from London and other problems we were unable to make it to the hotel for the first night. I was still charged for the first night and when myself and my partner arrived the following day, we were greeted with nothing but a rude receptionist followed by a manager/owner that would not let me talk and was extremely aggressive towards us. We tried to explain that our flight was delayed and we had no way of contacting the hotel to notify them but the manager kept interrupting me saying it's not his problem and he doesn't care, followed by we are not staying in this hotel, although eventually they did, which made the confrontation pointless. Another point they said was that they could have sold the room to another person even though we had already paid for our stay in advance, so I could not really see what the issue was either way as they are not losing money. We were the ones who were tired and exhausted and didn't need a argument about a room. I would not expect that treatment from any hotel where customer service should be priority. Following from that they were very cold towards us, and we felt like we couldn't approach them for anything, for example when we had arrived at our room we rang reception to ask for something and they did not pick up. I immediately went down to reception to sort it out and found the receptionist sitting there at the desk. By then I couldn't be bothered to argue with them again, so left it. Overall this experience has hugely had a negative impact on our cultural experience of Spain.
