The delightful gardens run right down to the river and there are few places I can think of more peaceful to just relax for a few hours. If you get bored with that there is a large heated swimming pool to enjoy. Want to explore? The stunning medieval town of Conques is just a short drive away.

Great view of the abbey, and a memorable local wine
Reviewed By CatonsvilleGeorgeOur Chambre 3 had a big window, and the abbey church of Sainte Foy filled it, we were that close. The room was spacious and well equipped. It had no air-conditioning, but the nights were cool. We also enjoyed dinner in the hotel restaurant. A standout was the local wine, “Entraygues - Le Fel,” which we remembered from an earlier visit (we had the white wine, from varietal Chenin).

Great Cozy Hotel in a Medieval Village
Reviewed By Getaway16047750405Conques is a 10th century(?) village, with about 150 residents. This Auberge is located a few feet from the abbatial. The main customers are tourists and of course, pilgrims enduring the 2-3 month hike on the path to St. John of Compostella, ending in the region of Galicia, Spain. There is a very good restaurant, a "comptoir" cafe-bar. The rooms are very cozy, with tv, and clean (but small). There are no elevators. This building about 800 years old(?) so do not expect the modern conveniences and property layouts of a Hilton or a Marriott. It is also very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

A Little Bit of Heaven
Reviewed By Joe90803I have had the great good fortune to travel to many places in this world and this is one place that I would really like to come back to and spend some time. Marie Jo and Gilbert have carefully added three beautiful rooms to their home so they can share this part of the world with a few lucky travelers. My room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated with a balcony and a gorgeous view of the countryside. The spacious bath had nothing but the best fixtures like you would find in only the finest hotels. Marie Jo and Gilbert were very welcoming and helpful and served a delicious individually prepared breakfast complete with homemade jams and crepes. The weather prevented me from enjoying the infinity pool and garden but they take great pride in sharing everything with their guests. The nearby church and town of Conques is, of course, a highlight but I was also intrigued with the village of St. Cyprien and the other beautiful villages and towns in the area. As Gilbert says, this is “La France profonde” and it is an area of calm and beauty that I would really like to get back to and explore. Le Ponsonnet would be a perfect place to start such a journey. It is not on a main road but I plugged “Le Ponsonnet” into my GPS and it took me right there.

The locking of the main reception door at 20.00 is a bit inconvenient if one of you can't walk far.

What a Delightful Auberge
Reviewed By Matthew652013The Auberge is very pleasant and set in the centre of a small village. The co-owner, Stephanie, could not have been more helpful and hospitable. The cuisine is also excellent, in the capable hands of Christophe the other co-owner and husband of Stephanie. This is a very comfortable Auberge which represents excellent value and I will certainly try to stay again for longer.

Reviewed By Karina GWe stayed with Dominique & Annie during our pilgrimage in May 2015. Our huge room was beautifully furnished complete with toys for the children (aged 3 & 6). The bathroom had everything like shampoo, soap, fluffy towels etc. Dinner was excellent with plenty of food, lovely wine and company. Dominique was wonderful with our children (so was Zulu the cat!), and helped us with getting our laundry done and organizing accommodation for the following two nights. Breakfast was a regular French breakfast of bread jam yogurt brioche and coffee. Can highly recommend this property, compared to the rest of Conques which we found completely disengaging due to the high volume of tourists that visit on a daily basis.

If its cafe grand creme or red wine there is nothing like sitting on the terrace and watching the world go bye. With family and friends I have spent a lot of time here! Now on to the restaurant... What can I say... simply excellent! My absolute favourite was the Parleon de Beouf! Melts in the mouth! I would highly recommend Hotel Solomiac to anyone visiting the region!

Belle piscine au centre de la propriété .Ballade possible au bord du lot . un bon resto mené par le chef originaire de Chamonix. la côte de veau un régal !!!!
