10 hotels in Carson City: Best hotel deals for 2023

July 15, 2022 Renato Branum

A city of natural beauty, charm, history and western hospitality, this state capital derived its name from Kit Carson, the legendary trapper, scout and explorer. A trip to the city is a living history lesson. One need only jump on the Kit Carson Trail downtown, which passes old mansions, courthouses, a depot and a brewery, to experience a taste of life in the Old West. Also downtown, the State Capitol, built in 1870, offers a look at the birth of Nevada as a state and Carson City as its capital. Other historic landmarks, cultural heritage centers and museums dot the landscape around town, but don't forget your clubs. The city is well-known for the Divine Nine, a group of top-rated area courses designed by pros such as Arnold Palmer, Johnny Miller and John Harbottle and set amid the magnificent Sierra Mountains. After a little golf, gambling or sightseeing, spend some down time at the Carson City Hot Springs. You will emerge feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and ready for more exciting endeavors.

The lobby did smell like smoke, that was absolute. I was concerned that the whole place was going to stink. It didn’t. The bowling alley was “fun”. The staff was exceptional, in every interaction that we had. The room was large /quiet and comfortable. Our room was nice, our breakfast was great (Thanks Deborah). I would definitely stay here again!

Not worth the money

Reviewed By Debra M

Upon arrival, there was a sign on the front desk advising to use the phone in the "lounge" - a space about 10 ft away - to call for help. When I called, the phone on the empty front desk rang and rang. I waited several minutes before anyone came in and then she checked in a man who walked in behind her though it was obvious I had already been waiting. There was a cooktop, microwave and refrigerator/freezer in the room along with dish soap and towels. But there were no pots, pans, plates, cutlery, nothing. So unless you travel with kitchen supplies, the kitchenette is worthless. In the bathroom there was one bar of soap so you could have it at the sink OR in the shower but not both. A small detail but indicative of the overall quality and thoughtfulness of the hotel. I cannot recommend this place nor would I ever stay at another of this chain.

Terrible is an Understatement

Reviewed By akroni840916

Typically I don't tend to leave reviews on hotel stays but in this case there were several things that were quite significantly disappointing/uncomfortable, so I felt the necessity to let management know in hopes some of these things can be improved for other guests. Initially, the older woman who dealt with our "check in" was certainly not very friendly or professional (But not completely awful, so please don't feel that way about your employee, She just needs a little Business/Personality Major Upgrade to be consistent with literally every Front Desk Staff Member I've EVER encountered has been). Room 109 looked "mostly clean-ish" upon arrival but we quickly could tell it had not been cleaned particularly well prior to our arrival, and during our three days there no cleaning staff came "at all" as is usually done in any Hotel/Inn in my life has been done which was a problem for multiple reasons more than just the bed remaining unmade/cleaned. In addition to not getting any cleaner than the not so clean areas from the arrival day, NO Restocking of ANY of the Towels, Coffee Amenities, etc was shocking and should always be provided as a contractually obligated part of the Cost/Fee. It is surprising Wyndham acquired this property because of the conditions of the Hotel and initially made me feel it would be a well kept pleasant environment based on previous stays at their hotels, however, this was not the case at all. In addition to the aforementioned issues there were even more terrible parts which I will list: - The outside of the property was dirty and disheveled (including but not limited to trash all over the walkways and parking lot, which happens to a degree at hotels but is usually cleaned up by staff, and multiple beer/alcohol bottles on the walkways near room entry and stairs). - The Bed I would give a (-10/10) if I could instead of a 0/10 for the following reasons: 1. The headboard, not being cleaned well, had white glob spots on it showing it wasn't cleaned and which indicated a possibility of it being human body fluids such as ejaculate/semen that had dried. 2. The Mattress felt like sleeping on a concrete surface, if you could call two nights of restful sleeping was what we did because both my Girlfriend and I woke up with multiple Back, Head, and body Aches/Pain after BOTH Nights. - In addition to the Bed Conditions, there were many reasons RESTFUL sleep

This hotel was terrible. It advertises breakfast but does not offer it. Rooms are tiny and dirty. Don't be fooled by the Wyndham name, this place definitely does not measure up to Wyndham standards. Ridiculously expensive for what is offered. Bathroom is dirty and tiny. Security chain on our door was broken, windows are dirty and grimy. I will never stay here again, and we are in Carson City several times a year. The only surprisingly positive thing about this hotel was that the beds were extremely comfortable.

Nice People. Not Clean!

Reviewed By Mr_Mrs_Scooters

I had a 5 nights stay at this hotel a couple of weeks ago. I found the people to be very friendly and the Front Desk folks made you feel extremely welcome, but that is where the goodness stops. In this post-covid world, they are only cleaning the rooms every few nights. I chose not to have housekeeping come in during my stay, since they would have come in just before I left. As I packed up, I looked under my bed, near my head and found a disgusting, used, dirty, bent Q-Tip. I don't gross-out easily, but this was beyond disgusting. Moreover, if they missed a bright-white Q-Tip, what other cleaning shortcuts did they take. I questioned if my "sanitized" room had been thoroughly cleaned at all. I politely complained to the desk and received the standard "oh-- I'm so sorry" from the clerk. She set my folio aside and was going to have the manager call me. I made sure that she had my phone number. Welllll It has been more than 2 weeks and no call. Mistakes are made and it is hard to get good staff right now, but there is a serious training and supervision issue here. I would have preferred to handle this with the manager, but since I didn't get a response, I feel the need to caution others here. These folks have slid from a good "4-5" rating right down to a "2". Partly because of their sanitation and partly because of managements lack of concern.
