Not The Worst, But Definitely Not The Best

I am a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium and I try to stay with Marriott hotels when I travel. This time I wish I hadn't. This hotel caters to tourist crowds looking for a low rate and large event groups. If you stay here not expecting much and are okay with lots of kids and crowds, you might not mind this hotel. Upon arrival, our limo driver couldn't get a bellman to help with our luggage, so we dragged it in ourselves. Once in the lobby, we found hoards of people and what seemed like a short-staffed front office with new people who needed help completing simple check in procedures. The lobby and common areas looked really nice and modern, but the hallways to the rooms were really outdated looking, We were kindly upgraded to a Seaview Suite using our Bonvoy suite night awards. The general manager had left us a lovely note with a bottle of wine, chocolates and waters. The room seemed to be well-kept and fairly modern, although the bathroom was very sterile and felt like a hospital restroom. We called the front desk and asked for ice for the wine. We were told we had to take the ice bucket to the restaurant ourselves. I was pretty shocked that a full service hotel couldn't deliver ice to our room. We also asked for an extra wine glass and an extra bathrobe and slippers. The bathrobe and slippers never arrived. The wine glass did arrive and it was dirty. We also saw a notice that housekeeping is only offered every three days. We called and asked for it to be done daily and they were very accommodating. This hotel has a lobby restaurant and an outdoor pool area. The pool area is actually quite nice, but too small for the amount of summertime crowds. We did enjoy lying out in the little cabanas. The restaurant looks like a cafeteria and offers poor quality food (some of which was undercooked and cold). The staff, overall, were nice. It seemed as if some of them were new and a bit unsure. One of the women (who seemed like a manager) said she was overwhelmed with the busy season of tourists. We were initially told incorrect information about open pharmacies on a Sunday to get a Covid test to fly home, but Flavia, the wonderful concierge, saved the day and got me to the only open pharmacy in Monaco. I have tried both of the Marriott properties in the Monaco area (this one and the Le Meridien). Both are underwhelming. They need some renovations and staff training. If you have to stay in Monaco, I would suggest paying more for a real luxury hotel, or choose one of the great Marriott (or other properties) in nearby towns like Nice and Cannes.

Very clean and efficient hotel BUT very naughty place to stay!

Stayed at the Hotel Edmond's with friends and we all had a great time! Just a little disappointed with the food - a bit bland! The rooms were very clean and tidy, and the beds very comfortable. BUT! The Hotel Edmond's wins top marks because we were very happy with the way one of the staff found 'company' for me and my friends every night. Bien joué Hotel Edmond's! We will be back!

Hotel Normandy Cap d'Ail

Hotel Normandy Cap d'Ail is located only 5 minutes away from Monaco by car. Nearby is a very special beach called Plage Mala. This is one of the six secret beaches on the cote d'Azure. When you see it you will understand why. The beach is 10 minutes by foot. Hotel Normandy is a family run hotel. The hotel used to be an old Villa back in the old days. We are an artistic and bohemian family. Twice a year we invite artist to exhibit in the hotel. We try to inspire our clients and try to make them feel at home in this beautiful French little village. Our rooms vary in size. If you like to be comfortable we recommend the four seaview rooms at the front of the hotel; two of them have a small terrace. We also recommend the apartment suite; we recently put 3 rooms together to make a large and modern accommodation. This suite has a large bathroom decorated with marble, Italian designer shower, wash basin & WC. We have also renovated seven bathrooms this year (November 2010) in the hotel for our customer to enjoy our hotel even more. We have a following of many loyal customers that enjoy the old style of the hotel and others that do not want to spend too much money. We still have standard rooms at reasonable prices and smaller seaview rooms with view to Cap Ferrat. The rooms are cleaned and new towels are replaced on a daily basis. Our cleaning lady is of the old kind and she is part of the history of the hotel, as her father took part in building it in 1920s. A self service breakfast buffet is served in the dinning room. You will find coffee, cereals, fresh croissant and different types of bread from the baker nearby, orange juice, milk, ham, salami, marmalade, cheese and fruits when available. Please call and we will be glad to talk you trough the best choice for your stay. BisouHotel Normandy

Quaint and close to a gorgeous beach

Reviewed By Mila00

I really liked staying at this hotel. It oozes French chic style. My room was lovely with partial sea view. Parking is a bit of a struggle but it is possible to find a spot close to the hotel in evening hours. Beware that the hotel is close to some steep slopes. It is too bad the terrace behind the hotel was closed so there was nowhere to sit outside and have coffee. There is a gorgeous beach just 5min walk from the hotel. There was no hair dryer in the room which I thought was strange. Apart from that this is a very cute French hotel.

Perfect for our Pre Cruise Stay

Reviewed By 661jonc

We were joining a cruise ship in Monte Carlo and having done this before had previously stayed in MC and paid a lot for the privilidge. We chose the Miramar as it is so close to Monte Carlo and yet much more affordable. We spoke to the hotel beforehand regarding the transfer from Nice Airport and they advised us with the volume of luggage we had to get a taxi which we did. For those with less to carry or watching their euro's there are considerably cheaper transfers specifically the bus which runs right past the front of the hotel. Our taxi cost us circa 100euros Our flight was early morning from the UK so we arrived at the hotel well before check in time but the staff were lovely and gave us somewhere safe to leave our bags and change for the beach. Armed with a map they also provided we headed off to the beach for 3 hours before returning and checking in. Cap D'Ail is quite high up perched 100m up the Alpes Maratime so you have a ten minute walk down to the beach which is fine but it is quite steep on the way back up. The location would not suit those who struggle with mobility if they want to visit the beach but it was fine for us. We asked at reception for a recommendation for an evening meal and we were advised to go to La Pinede if we liked sea food which we do so they very kindly made a reservation for us. It was a great choice (see separate review). To get to the restaurant we were told to go through Parc Sacha Guitry, which is a fabulous park that you would have walked right past unless you knew it was there. The other lovely thing about Cap D'Ail is the magnificent coastal path that runs all the way from the beach in Cap D'Ail to Monte Carlo. So as you can tell the staff at the hotel were fabuous and spoke perfect English, our room was great with everything we needed for our one night and the breakfast next morning was lovely with loads of great coffee, cereals, bread cheese and meats. We would love to come back for longer and explore more of the area as it is very beautiful, but until we do thank you for adding so much to our stay and giving us the perfect start to our holiday
