10 hotels in Cambridge: Best hotel deals for 2023

August 5, 2022 Karren Gelb

Home to two of America's most prestigious universities, Cambridge exudes a certain intellectual quirkiness. A mix of historical haunts, student hang-outs, alternative art and culture venues, vintage clothing shops, bookstores and ethnic restaurants, the city is, well, really cool. Although it is located just across the Charles River from Boston, Cambridge has a distinct vibe that is noticeable immediately. Start at Harvard Square, a hub of activity and mishmash of trendy stores, outdoor cafes and colorful local characters. Pick up a walking tour map at the visitors information booth in the center of the Square. The route will take you past many important landmarks including the Mount Auburn Cemetery, Tory Row and the Longfellow National Historic Site. Harvard University offers student-led tours through the illustrious buildings and monuments of its sprawling campus. Art and architecture buffs should meander around the M.I.T campus, which includes outdoor sculptures by masters such as Picasso and 20th-century buildings designed by modern greats like Eero Saarinen and I. M. Pei. Along the way, browse through bookstores, stop to watch street performers and grab a coffee at an outdoor café to take in all this captivating city has to offer.

Quality experience & great location

Reviewed By 989rebeccac

They definitely worked hard to make this a great experience. The staff was super friendly and responsive. The location is becoming better and better as the area continues to develop and the new train stations/lines continue to be finished. Their bar and any evening food service are still out of commission, so they seem to have put extra effort into their breakfast that's included in the rate. I've NEVER said this about any hotel free breakfast, but it was outstanding. Their hot features were a standout to the point that I asked where they got their supplies. Again, an absolute first for me. It was quality and filling. They also offer up large to go boxes and encourage you to take food with you. They have the regular stuff, but their hot food is great and the fruit is fresh. Next trip to Boston, this will be our local home again.

Poor amenities, over-priced, but nice people

Reviewed By Scenic664692

First, the people were nice and they did the best they could with what they had to work with. The room was clean but 1970s, the pillows were poor and the bedding a little tired. Tye bathroom fixtures were new. The real issue was food. Late at night there is only a snack menu at Paperback and it is over-priced. On Sunday and Monday evenings the eateries are all closed. No one told us and we were stranded in a neighbourhood with no restaurants and only a grocery store a taxi ride away. By the way, the rotating restaurant on top closed in 2007. For what it offered, the Hyatt Regency should have been half the price.

Practical and convenient stay

Reviewed By Julie A

A typical decent Hampton Inn stay. The location is actually quite central (an easy 15 minute walk to MIT, 5 minutes to the science museum, good for strolls by the river, or for a selection of restaurants…), but with still the benefit of free parking on site. Our room was on the front of the hotel but street noise was minimal.

We found our new home away from home!

Reviewed By Global47453850901

I booked this hotel to be close to our son’s apartment to have easy access to him when we were here for his graduation from Harvard. This place couldn’t have been more perfect. Not only was it a comfortable accommodation, but we could walk to our son’s door in under a minute. The bed was comfortable, the view from our room was lovely, the staff was incredibly kind and helpful, and one thing I really liked was that on every floor was a cart of amenities that had items such as extra towels, coffee, toilet paper, etc. It had everything you might run out of during your stay but wouldn’t need to contact the front desk and have to wait for it. Our son has decided to remain in Cambridge, so we will be visiting again, and definitely plan on staying at 907 Main!
