Reviewed By marcopolo1964I was planning on staying in Potes, which a guidebook had described as a lovely village. Its really more of a town and had way too much traffic and crowds for my taste. So i continued on the road to Fuente De. I'm glad I did because I stumbled upon El Caserio. It's in a tiny rural hamlet by a rushing stream. My room was cosy and spotless, and super quiet. The restaurant/bar is friendly and serves honest local food. It was super base for a few days of hiking around the valley. Two caveats: don't expect much for breakfast. It's just the bar and you order coffee and rolls. And the wifi didn't work well for me. Others didn't seem to have any problem, so maybe it's that my devices are too old.

Beautiful accommodation & location
Reviewed By LukeC2195I booked through booking.com and found that the location was not too far from Potes. The accommodation was beautiful & the balcony was a really nice touch! The only downfall was the dog barking through the night, but this wasn’t the fault of the horse and out of their control I will definitely be visiting here again when passing through. Just look at the photo! What a gorgeous house

Delightful stay
Reviewed By Lesley BWe recently stayed in the very comfortable attic room with the most stunning view of the Picos de Europa. We cannot rate this delightful family- run bed and breakfast highly enough. Located in a small quiet hamlet, it was only a 10 minute drive to the more touristic town of Potes ( for more choice of restaurants and a lovely place nevertheless!). Our hosts were most welcoming and although our Spanish is very basic, we managed to obtain information about walks and restaurants. Breakfast was generous and continental -style. The garden and pool were so welcome after our day walk . We would like to have spent more than 2 days and nights here and can certainly highly recommend Posada San Pelayo.

Reviewed By yoramhoffman2015Amazing place and hospitality. The lady running the place ,Louisa is a unique and kind person , great welcome with local cheese and wine. Rooms are big and very convenient. The breakfast is very generous and very impressive. Cheap and highly recommend, don’t hesitate!

Reviewed By lolikiaA nice cosy hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean. It is recommended to eat breakfast at the hotel as portions are generous. Depending on the room, selected, you can have mountain view rooms. The only downside is there is no lift so you hv to lug yr baggage upstairs. If you are staying the night, it is best to pack a small overnight bag

Reviewed By neilherbert45Our host Antonio, who speaks some English, was most helpful during our stay, we particularly enjoyed his freshly cooked local pancakes and mountain honey for breakfast - absolutely scrummy ! There is an "honesty" area/fridge in the common room, where guests can avail themselves of wine, beer & soft drinks, a really nice touch. Even if you aren't a hiker, make the effort to walk up the tracks behind the Posada, it is worth it for the lovely views of the surrounding moutains and countryside.

Close experiences of the mountain kind
Reviewed By nb888In a town with a population of 3 dogs and 2 people we stayed here on route on our walk from from Potes to.. Potes, during which we experienced many assertive dogs, a red squirrel, a wolf (probably) and lots of conundrums such as : where has the trail gone??. Other than breakfast they do not serve food here so we relied on our trusty mountain rations of nuts apricots and flapjacks, although they do have a large bath for a soak, and a minibar in the room for those cerveza cravings.. Nice and remote and the long walk up the steep mountain road to reach it was particularly pleasant :)

It's a traditional, fully refurbished house that harmonizes with the surrounding where it's located in, picos de europa National Park. You can enjoy a beautiful landscape from this peaceful and centrally situated house. Within the heart of Liebana valley, it's close to the main cultural and tourist attractions of the area. You can also taste the gastronomy of the area or do some activities: hiking, horse-riding, quad bike, canyoning, canoeing,etc. The visit of historical and monumental landmarks, Romanesque and mozarab churches is highly recomended. The house is situated on the southern side of the mountain range, facing the eastern massif. It's only two Kilometres away from Potes, on the way to fuente De. In Potes, the capital of the region, you can find supermakets, shops, restaurants, banks, a health centre,etc.
Beautiful setting, idillic place
Reviewed By Julie WFirst of all ignore the car drivers without common sense, yes the entrance is on a narrow lane but all you need to do is drive past the sharp left hand entrance turn around and then go down it. It is adequate for a normal size car if you can judge distance. On the way out, do the same, go left and turn around, no problem! They have a big car park. Don't miss this fabulous place with friendly owners and a lovely garden to relax, the lady speaks some English, it helps to have pre booked and perhaps have your keywords ready as you would anyway in this part of Spain. We had a lovely peaceful stay and it is not far to restaurants, there is one within walking distance. Breakfast was simple but plentiful. Would stay again, muchas gracias.
