10 hotels in Billings: Best hotel deals for 2023

July 14, 2022 Merry Kessler

Lewis & Clark, Custer, Sitting Bull and Calamity Jane may be long gone, but they are not forgotten in Billings. Museums, galleries and landmarks honoring these legendary characters from the Old West dot the city, making it a history buff's dream destination. Surrounded by six breathtaking mountain ranges, Billings also offers plenty of opportunities for fresh air recreation, including hiking, biking, golf and viewing rare Montana wildlife. Spend time at the Western Heritage Center, an interactive museum full of clothing and remarkable artifacts from the Yellowstone River Valley. In the early 1900s, the railroad brought wealth to Billings and testaments of this prosperity are still standing. Be sure to visit the regal Moss Mansion, designed by architect H.J. Hardenbergh (who also designed the Waldorf-Astoria and Plaza Hotels in New York City). In the more modern realm, MetraPark offers horse racing, rodeos, concerts, fairs and other types of entertainment everyone will enjoy. And kids of all ages will enjoy the animals and games at ZooMontana.

Older Hampton, great gal at front desk

Reviewed By COGuest

First time at this property, but have been to countless of these over the years (Lifetime Diamond). Plenty of free parking. Depending on where your room is, you may want to park on that side of the property. Multiple doors. On the larger side as far as many Hamptons. There are 2 sections/buildings/towers/whatever the term they may use, with 2 separate elevator areas, so be sure to note which one you take to your room. Room was fine, standard Hampton, nothing unusual. TV worked, fridge worked, hair dryer worked, everything was fine. Busy during our stay. Other similar properties and casinos in general area. Not much to walk to, but you would need a car anywhere in Billings. Good access to Interstate 90, which was a key factor. No prob for me as far as road noise. Lots of dinner options within a brief drive. Standard Hampton breakfast (suggest they get almond milk on buffet; see Hampton Inn in Bozeman) Did not use pool--never do. At night there were couple of sketchy folks--looked drunk --that were in the parking lot. Maybe from nearby casinos? Just keep your eyes open. There was a woman at the front desk that seemed to always be there, during all 3 days here. She was really with it. Guessing she has been there a long time. Seemed to know everything about the property, the area, restaurants, you name it. Super helpful. Forgot her name, but props to her. They should hang on to her. Handy spot, would return.

This is a nice hotel. I do think it is overpriced though. It is a good stopping place for the night when traveling across country. If prices were better I would give it a higher score. We have stayed here a couple times.

We paid $462 for a two bedroom suite I had dried boogers on one of the bathroom walls. The sink drain was bubbling up with someone else’s hair. I called down to the front desk to notify the hotel. I wanna apologize. They said someone would come up to take care of it while we are out for dinner. Nothing was done! I’ve stayed here before for business many many times, last time I switched rooms three different times in a row at check-in do the room cleanliness. If you have a chance stay at the Hampton Inn next-door.

Location was great, right off the interstate, but noise was low. Right next door to a Cracker Barrel. A very nice stay, no problem with anything that appled to us (did not use pool or gym). Clean and comfortable with a very nice breakfast compared to what we normally see now. Internet was acceptable, not the best , but not the worst either. Staff was pleasant and attentive. Would definitely stay here again.

BEAUTIFUL place/BEAUTIFUL People!

While my wife was admitted into the Billings Clinic recently, the People at the Northern offered me a stay there for a very inexpensive “Hospital Rate”! I had stayed at this great old hotel for many many years before it was remodeled, but not since!! I was very pleasantly surprised at what “they have done” to this Grand Old Hotel!!? The desk people )especially one nice lady who was very genuine, (so sorry I don’t remember her name), was especially concerned about -how my wife was doing, each day I returned to stay! They “Stood Behind Their Special Rate” for as long as I stayed!! The Hilton place up the street DID NOT!! After a couple of nights at THEIR “Hospital Rate” they “reneged “, and tried to charge NEARLY DOUBLE!! Thank You Northern Hotel!!
