Perfect modest central option
Reviewed By BrixtonKateWonderful stay at this place early October 2019. Modest pension, so we weren't under any illusions of grandeur. But actually it was better than it looked on the website. Spotlessly clean room. Very big comfortable bed. Persianas which blocked out the light if you want. Ideal central location near the harbour/old town. The best thing was that the young woman who ran it (Olatz? sorry for mis-spelling) was fantastically helpful and friendly. I don't normally go in for "concierge" service/interaction but really she was so enthusiastic and offered lots of useful information on places to go/things to see. Definitely recommend.

Nice, quiet place
Reviewed By ZwalieReally nice, quiet place. Very friendly staff and clean. Spacious rooms, nice beds and a balcony with a great view. Maybe because of Covit, but the restaurant was closed and there was not so much to do in the hotel itself. When you need some time to switch off, this is your place to go.

Wonderful rural hotel located in the Urdaibai Natural Park
Reviewed By mbarallatWe visited the hotel with my family (two rooms, one for us, a couple with one child and another one for my parents). The hotel is an old Basque house (baserri), very well connected to the region´s landmarks. The beautiful villages of Mundaka, Bermeo, the beach of Sukarrieta, and a bit futher, Bakio and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (protrayed in "Game of Thrones"). All within 10-15 minute drive. The hotel itself is next to a "txakoli" winery and some quiet, beautiful forest. There is a farm next to it, with goats, great experience for little kids. It has parking and there is also a nice playground for children. The rooms are quiet and have a nice balcony. We took a large room (with veranda and bath). There are also little apartments, with kitchen, which I would recommend for those with children. The owner, Marco, is a great guy, as well as the other people working at the hotel. We forgot our passport and he contacted us, so that we didnt get a bad surprise in the airport :) The hotel offers breakfast, nice, with local ecological products (great yougurt!). There is no restaurant, but some 15 minutes walking there is a great place to eat (Torre Madariaga), with striking views of the Ria de Urdaibai. I totally recommend the hotel for those looking for a quiet rural retreat and for families.

A charming hotel
Reviewed By FrancesSHWhat a nice hotel. I has only been open for a couple of months so everything is still shiny and new. The rooms are large and very comfortable with very comfortable beds and a jaccuzi bath and a rainshower. They have tried to think of everything, there is even a wireless charger for iphones. The breakfast is very good. It is served at the table and there is something for everybodys taste. They do also serve dinner. The menu is not is not extensive but the dishes that are served are very good. Everything is locally sourced (so only food that is in season) and biological where possible. And they do adhere to the slowfood movement, symbolized with the little snail on the menu. The location of the hotel is nice. Beautiful view of the mountains and sea. But still only 15 minutes from Bermeo town. Do take a route to Bermeo first as the road from there is the easiest. Your car gps will probably give you a shorter route but it will involve very steep and very narrow roads. The slightly longer one via Bermeo is easier. Also: very friendly owner

Reviewed By Falco1968My Spanish/Catalan partner and I tried to book a double/twin room for one night in Ausgust 2011, as we will be travelling along the Spanish north coast this summer. The "Pension Torre Ercilla" insisted on a minimum booking of two nights. Seems they want to save on the sheet cleaning. Quite disappointing altogether.
