10 hotels in Berkeley: Best hotel deals for 2023

June 26, 2022 Weston Hennigan

The counter-culture, flower power center of the 60s, bohemian Berkeley has evolved into a culinary and cultural travel scene. Shift into low gear and people-watch along quirky Telegraph Avenue while checking out the bookstores and cafes. After strolling through the UC Berkeley campus, the Berkeley Rose Garden and the Downtown Arts District, head into the hills for an outdoor adventure in Tilden Park or cruise down to the waterfront park, where the San Francisco skyline sparkles across the bay.

Graduate Berkeley

Welcome to Graduate Berkeley - where your intellectual curiosity meets your favorite place to stay. Graduate Berkeley is a five-minute walk to campus at the corner of the city stir and game day buzz. We are steps from Telegraph Avenue shops and stops. A virtual post card from its counter culture past, Graduate Berkeley resides in the historically renovated Hotel Durant, making it the most storied place around. The lobby invites nods to the arts and academia, the well-traveled local and Berkeley's Bohemian roots. Collegiate plaids mix with a faraway but familiar feel, like a home away from home. Thousands of "Nat Geo" magazines journey across the front desk walls dressed in California gold. Curl up with a book amidst Ikat patterned easy chairs and printed velvet sofas in deep blues and burgundy with a vintage vibe. Sweeping wood floors are layered with hand-woven rugs from India, while graphic street art mixes with chinoiserie accessories offset by original mill work and moldings.

Really cool hotel

A friend and i only booked here because we were going to a nearby venue to see a music show. Hotel is super convenient to public transportation or there’s a public parking garage where you can get a discount on longer stays. The bellman, Leu, greeted us and gave us all kinds of good info about the area. He was so friendly and came to our rescue when we found the parking garage was closed on Sundays! Apparently, the hotel has a deal with the garage so he was able to let us in to retrieve our cars. I have tickets for another show soon at the nearby Freight and Salvage and will definitely book a room again here.

Large complex, well spaced out. Nice reception area. Room was a nice size and I had a marina view. I had dinner in the restaurant on one of the nights, but decided to Uber it for the remaining. Breakfast was nice but expensive. Shop was well stocked but expensive

Check-In and Out was easy:) Plenty of parking and area came off safe:) Heard no noise from other rooms and little from outside:) Bed was comfortable:) Plenty of hot shower water and great pressure:) Nice TV and very good channel selection:) Shower floor can be slick and shower itself tight for bigger people? Door was hard to lock:( Found past guest glasses on floor under air conditioning wall unit? Hated how the bathrooms light is automated to come on when you enter the area, makes it hard on the eyes in the middle of the night. When I was showering, the light would go off do to no movement in bathroom, showering in the dark is not fun:( Still, really liked this BW

Clean modern new hotel. Room is clean and bright. We had a room on the second floor that faced north so we did not have any street noise. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice rooftop deck with gas fireplaces and comfortable seating. Location is safe to walk around the neighborhood, grab a cup of coffee or a meal. Easy to find a free parking on the street just north of the hotel. Free coffee in the lobby was very good. I would stay here again when I visit Berkeley.

We traveled from out of state, and my family had a great stay. We enjoyed the pool and complementary breakfast; the kids loved making their own waffles! Our room was quiet and clean. Beds were comfortable. It was unusual for us to not have a coffee pot in the room, but one was located at the front desk as well as multiple options during breakfast. The manager was very friendly and accommodating! We will return when we are back for our next visit!
