I stayed here because the sister and adjoining property, a Marriott, didn't have an open bar or restaurant on the night I stayed. The Hyatt Place advertised a restaurant, which is why I booked here. The "restaurant" is a bar with pre-made sandwiches and salads. That's it, despite signage in the elevator advertising a restaurant and also the hotel website listing a full menu. As a World of Hyatt Globalist, I received zero recognition at check-in. I wasn't addressed by name nor thanked for staying. I requested a room on the highest floor away from the elevator. That also wasn't fulfilled. Why wasn't I pre-blocked into a room? First room had pubic hair on the toilet seat and two brown stains on the bedding. The bottom fitted sheet was so wrinkled that it looked like it wasn't changed. No housekeeping staff working at 5 pm to properly clean room. Front office manager moved me to a room on the highest floor and away from the elevator, which is what my reservation specified. Why wasn't I given this room in the first place? But the room was never inspected. Pubic hair on toilet seat and under it. Front Office Manager came and cleaned toilet while I left for the lobby to eat a salad with microwaved chicken and have drinks in the lobby bar. The meal wasn't comped. I was offered 8,000 points for the unacceptable lack of cleanliness. He never apologized for the repeated cleanliness issues or even came over to tell me the room was finished being cleaned. For a Front Office Manager, I expect someone who is more engaging and customer-focused. I only booked this hotel because it advertises a restaurant but there's no restaurant and the menu isn't offered. I asked if the shuttle could take me 1 mile away to a restaurant in Williamsville but was told no. The shuttle just sat there unused. Beyond these issues, the hallways had trash and debris. Probably as a result of not offering daily full housekeeping. Some visible wear and tear in the door frame area that a fresh coat of paint would fix. Carpets in the guest room could have been cleaner. Sofa had stains. There was some mold or grime in the sliding door area of the walk-in shower partly as a result of the stupid design, which makes cleaning difficult. A couple of other issues: There are some design flaws in the guest room. No USB outlets at the nightstands. Only two electrical outlets on each side. The clock-radio had a USB outlet but it was broken. No telephone at the nightstands, which isn't convenient for wake-up calls. On the plus side, the breakfast was the full spread. That was appreciated, especially after the pathetic evening food offerings. Also, the sound insulation is excellent. You can't hear anything from the highway next to the hotel. Staff at the the front desk were seemed well-intended, but not overly proactive nor hospitable. The exception was the young-ish girl who I recognized from a previous, pre-COVID stay. She was really good. I might return here if they were honest about the food and beverage situation and the cleanliness was improved. It's not like there isn't a shortage of hotels in the area.

Incredible Boutique Hotel

From check-in to check-out, our stay was exceptional. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The decor was 5-star. The bed was 5-Star. If I had one critique, it would be that the televisions in the room are not equipped with Nextflix, etc. but I have to assume that functionality is not far off. We will be back if we're ever in the greater Buffalo area anytime in the future. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

Nice hotel, very disappointing management

Reviewed By AndrewinMD

While the hotel itself is well appointed, management is sorely lacking in customer service based on our experience. Given the many options in the area, I would look elsewhere, and if we ever have the occasion to be in that area again, we will certainly do so. Here's why: My wife and daughter stayed at this property for two nights during the first weekend of May. When they checked in, they were placed into an adjoining room, and the family in the next room had a very noisy young child and baby. Since the HVAC did not have a continuous fan option on it (why, Hilton?), sleep was difficult to come by. With my daughter competing in a high level gymnastics event after the 2nd night, it was essential that she have decent sleep the next night. I told my wife to go to the front desk to ask for a room change due to the noise. She was immediately met with a defensive attitude from the supervisor, and the room change was denied. She was told, "No one is being moved today." When she told me this, I was incredulous because I have never been denied a move (for non-trivial reasons) despite years of traveling. Since sleep is literally the main reason for a hotel, I'd consider that essential. I called the front desk and received the same attitude and the same denial. The supervisor said the hotel was full, which was a lie, and when confronted with the fact that rooms were listed as available online, she suddenly changed her story and said that changing rooms would "inconvenience housekeeping". That's ludicrous - if I could book another room for that night, there were rooms clean and available. I filed a complaint with Hilton, which amounted to nothing because the General Manager never bothered to respond. I also left a message for the GM, but again, never heard back. Hilton really needs a better mechanism for customer complaints. Having been failed by them, I decided to leave this review for others. I would not have left this negative review if someone had simply bothered to pick up the phone or send an email. I guess that's what passes for customer service these days. If you want your concerns ignored, you've found a good place!

The concierge was very friendly and her dog was really cute. The hotel was nice and clean which was great due to COVID. The room we stayed in was well heated and comfortable for the cold March weather.

Scary...

This does not feel like a hotel, more like a rehab center. There is no real cover you can pull up with your car, the luggage carts are old and rickety and super filthy (there are only 1-2 for the entire 'hotel'). The parking lot is filled with holes and its hard to even push a luggage cart to your car, good luck. The individual at the front desk Kelsey E****n. was very rude and fake the entire time there, and surprised she is the manager quite frankly - should not be in a position with the public. The rooms are filthy, dingy, old worn out carpets, rooms smell bad. The HVAC (heating/cooling) is so annoying and didn't work - every few hours if there is not movement in the room, it shuts off - so at night when you are sleeping - it will shut off. They give you a manual to try to explain how to program it to not do that - but it still shuts off, they are old and lame - and are too cheap to put actual a/c heating units that the guest can turn off or on at THEIR discretion. Sheets look old, mattresses old, chair filthy and old - this entire room felt like what a rehab center or some type of facility (not a hotel at all). Wifi slow and unstable. The parking lot at night is pitch black - forget about thinking you could see your car, you will not be seeing it - there is no lighting (or any that works). Many of the people who were in the hotel are seedy types, the elevator and halls smelled like a green plant (the one that is smoked). I felt like I was in a bad movie set from 1982 in an asylum. Honestly I would never recommend anyone stay here. The staff will not help you with any request, will not let you change your room (will make all kinds of excuses why you can't) and then you will be stuck in your dumpy room. Find a real hotel not a halfway house to stay at...

Worst Marriott ever!

Reviewed By Courtney W

We stayed here for a 1 night stay and will never return. If you are use to Marriott's, anticipate this not being the standard in which you are accustom to; it is not a Marriott by any stretch of the imagination. Check in was unwelcoming and the woman did not even hardly speak to us. The room was spacious but very dated and worn down. The bathroom was small and gross and had bad water damage to the point the door would not shut properly. The worst part about this hotel was the ridiculously excessive noise. All night long the constant door slamming of people going in and out of their rooms never stopped, just a continuous bang..bang all hours of the night and people were talking and yelling in the hallways until the wee hours of the morning. When the noise of other guests were not keeping you awake it was the sound of traffic coming from the highway. I have stayed at several hotels in the area next to this hotel and have never noticed traffic noise like I did at this hotel. No amenities at the hotel were open and the parking lot had strange characters meandering about it both day and night. At check out I stood there for a good ten minutes with no one coming to assist me so I finally just left the room key at the counter and left. Never again!
