How every hostel should be!

Stayed here on my own in the second week of September, which was very quiet. The hostel's location is ideal as a base to explore NP Aigüestortes's west side. The rooms were very clean and cozy with a modern bathroom, lockers and a nice view of the town and valley. The staff was very friendly and provided hiking information. Breakfast was very decent and included local products. Great experience!

Basic guesthouse in centre

Reviewed By pavakeal

The guesthouse was clean and for the price, was good value. Our rooms were large with en suite facilities and functioned well. Breakfast area was very basic although prepacked cakes were fresh. This is a short stay hostel when in the area and not a vacationers paradise. Manager/owner seen when checking in only as reception not manned.

Abadia de Montenartro

La Abadia is a mountain hostel with a capacity of 24 people, with two dormitories of 8 and 10 beds with shared showers and bathrooms. Additionally there is an appartment called Piset del Mestre with six beds. The appartment got an independent kitchen and bathroom for those who wish to cook och have some privacy on their visit to the Pyrenees, even though half pension or full pension certainly sitll is an option. La Abadia have free wfif, a common space and restaurant where you can enjoy a good meal and hang out with other guests. There's also a terrace outside with access to the garden. Because of its different living options, the beautiful surroundings, proximity to a variety of accitvities and easy access, La Abadia is ideal for all kinds of guests: families, travellers, bikers and hikers, but also for groups that are looking for an idyllic place to have reunions.

Forced to pay even though the directions they provided sent me to the wrong location.

Sadly I had a bad experience with L'Abadia de Montenartro. My partner and I were driving up north from Barcelona and on the way we decided to book two nights in this hostel. I copy-pasted the location provided in the confirmation letter into google maps and a few hours later we arrived at our destination. Unfortunately the hostel was nowhere to be found and when I called the hostel, the woman (who is the owner) told me that I was in fact two hours away from the correct location. She asked a couple of times if I had put in the gps coordinates for the hostel - Which I had not since, sadly, those had not been included in the confirmation letter. While I spoke with her on the phone it got dark outside, a thunderstorm was starting, we were on top of a remote mountain, and we were far away from a village or a hostel with any availabilities. As we realised that we would not be able to reach the hostel that night I asked her if I could cancel the booking. After all I had only made the booking a few hours earlier so surely she had not refused other clients during this time. She said that sadly she couldn't give me a refund since I had booked through Booking.com so I would have to talk to them, but she sounded sincere in saying that if it was up to her, she would indeed refund the payment. I called Booking.com who had to confirm with her. When they spoke to her she did indeed confirm my story completely. However, she refused to cancel the booking and refund the money. Instead she offered that she would keep the booking open for me so we could stay the second night. Basically, she was forcing me to pay for both nights, and "offering" us to sleep at the hostel for one of those nights. Luckily, Booking.com were as shocked as I at this "offer", so in the end they refunded me the money. We also had a tent in the trunk of our car and eventually found a small campsite where we put up our tent and found shelter from the storm. Sadly, L'Abadia de Montenartro, did nothing to assist us in our troubles. Hopefully, in the future, the will provide gps coordinates as well as proper directions for their guests. And, first and foremost, I hope they will be more honest and drastically improve their customer service.

Stopped by on our way to Montgarri. This spot is isolated, but beautiful. We didn't stay here, but we got a tour of the rooms and they are clean and well-kept. We spent most of our time in the cafe, where we were served the best apple strudel I've ever had.

There are plenty of other places in the area

The breakfast was horrific! There was milk on the counter that was spoiled, the cold cuts were the worst quality you can get. My hotel room cost me 100 euros with breakfast included, at the very least give me something decent to eat. The service lacked. I had to knock on a door so the receptionist come out to do my check out. She barely streched he head out the door with a look a bit annoyed I interrupeted whatever she was doing. All I wanted was to go swimming and relax. The swimming pool is about the size of a Jacuzzi with the wonderful smell of horse manure! One of the pillow cases was stained, from what appeared to be another guests hair die. You can not lock the door from the inside, and the hotel only gives you one key. There for I had to lock my husband in the room when I wanted to go out. The place isn't sound proof as I got woken up by a crying baby twice in one night. After paying 200 Euros for two nights, someone checked out after me for the same amount of nights two people just like myself and he paid 160. The cost for pets should be on boni g Wich is 10 Euros a night. I paid 220 in total.
