10 Cottages in Arkansas: Best hotel deals for 2023

April 18, 2023 Deane Carmody

Living up to its billing as “The Natural State”, the state is a nature wonderland with three national forests, nearly 9,000 miles of pristine streams and rivers, awe-inspiring settings in the Ozark and Quachita mountains and sparkling lakes. The menu of vacation experiences is an exciting one. For great golf, spas, horse racing and the Hot Springs National Park, Hot Springs is the place to go. Outdoor enthusiasts love the Ozark Mountains where activities like canoeing, rafting, kayaking, fishing, hiking and rock climbing are popular. The mountain village of Eureka Springs, with its streets lined with Victorian homes, is brimming with boutiques, antique shops and art galleries. Wine enthusiasts love the Arkansas Wine Country, encompassing the towns of Paris, Ozark and Altus, where German style wines are produced. From its ancient mountains to the Delta flatlands leveled by the Mississippi River, the state has a diverse topography with numerous scenic drives. Try the Pig Trail, Ozark Highlands and Sylamore scenic byways in the Ozark National Forest designated by the U.S. Forest Service. Golfers love the state because greens fees are extremely affordable for great courses. A few excellent public access courses are Sage Meadows in Jonesboro, Stonebridge Meadows in Fayetteville and the Mountain Ranch Course in Fairfield Bay.

Anniversary Getaway

I am not a review writer, but I was shocked at the way these owners treated us when an issue arose. We stayed at the Shangrila and the photographer did their job in making it look better than it was. We also liked the option of the outdoor hot tub and the bath upstairs. Overall, the place felt fine. The fireplace was nice, but the remodel was not complete and average at best. The hot tub is an old unit, does not get warm enough and the jets provide limited pressure. Not enjoyable! The main issue we ran into was no hot water. While I assume this is a one off situation, we did not have hot water and were unable to use the bath or take showers. While I assume it is fixed now, the owners told me they sent the plumber out after our stay and said it was working fine. They offered us $75 on a $360 stay which I thought was completely unacceptable and basically made it our problem. Might be an ok place to stay, but if you’d have any issue don’t plan on the remedy being fair. They told me they have never given a refund before. Wow!!! Hospitality?!?!

The Bridgeford house

Very nice stay

Reviewed By Brett R

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Bridgeford House. The location is excellent...walking distance to stores, restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Free parking on street or in back of building. A pleasant old home turned into a B&B. The Stamfordshire room was large enough that we didn't feel cramped. It was comfortable and clean. The owner and site manager made breakfast each morning and it was great! Eggs, bacon and more. Much more than I expected. Everyone was pleasant and helpful, but respected our privacy. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Cottage

Reviewed By Courtney F

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Elm Street Cottage. It is clean and airy with its white decor. It mixes modern with Victorian nicely. We enjoyed sitting on the porches sipping our morning cups of coffee and watching a thunderstorm. Our son was delighted by his first time seeing fireflies in the backyard. It was just that right size for our family of three. We would definitely return for another stay.

One of better places to stay

Reviewed By dtosh84

The style of the cottage is very cute and cozy, not like the other Victorian styles in Eureka (not a Victorian fan). Second time to stay here, cozy little fireplace, has basic necessities, enjoyed hottub and proximity to main street. It is a bit pricey to not be bed and breakfast and the bed is not comfy. I would recommend this place for weekend get away.
