Port Macquarie My husband and I booked a group trip to go away. Upon booking Robert booked in and advised that he will be bringing a boat. Robert and Peter had booked in earlier then us. Camron and I left in the morning to drive from our house to port Macquarie. We parked out the front and we had arrived early. I said to my husband I’m sure they will let us check in early if we pay for the night before. I said it’s fine just pay for an extra day. We knew that our site was vacant because it was next to rob. My husband parked out the front and was nervous because this was the first time towing the van. My husband went inside to check in to explain and they had no compassion and didn’t hear him out. They declined him paying extra money to arrive early. He became frustrated and he did say something like oh come on are you serious it’s like half an hour.Nothing more was said by them. They said you have to come back later. My husband went back and checked in at the time they said. Days into our stay a lady not sure of her name came looking for the owner of the boat. We advised it’s rob. The lady kept calling Peter Rob. We explained no rob isn’t here he is at the shop. Nothing more was said. She then came back again looking for him. Requesting this time that he remove the boat. Robert questioned why this was a hazard and why he wasn’t advised of this and had never heard of such a thing from a caravan park. Robert requested that he speak to the manager because he didn’t want for his boat to be away from him on another site at the other end of the park or he didn’t want to have to have the boat on the car roof everywhere. We had also seen the reviews where it said that items had been previously stolen from this park as the boom gate was left up all night. The lady left. The people across from us came over and said what was that all about. Robert even said to the couple was that ok I wasn’t rude. They said no u were not. Dawn then arrived to where we were staying. She came back to say that we had made the poor girl cry. He said he hadn’t and we were all witness to this. Robert questioned again his options. She advised that the boat must be put back on the car or another site. Robert said can you please write a letter to say that you will be liable if anything happens to the boat. Dawn replied no. She came down looking for a fight without getting the information. Robert questioned why are they the only ones that have to follow the boat rule. Boats, trailers and canoes were all around us. She kept going and going. Robert said fine he Will put the boat back on the car. He said I will be writing a review. She said yeh good me as well. Robert said I didn’t say a bad one. Her husband laughed at this. She then said to my husband oh you were the one that was up at the office swearing your head off at all my staff. He said what are you talking about. She kept going and going at him and following him as he was walking away. He did say to Dawn you know what I didn’t swear up at the office but f u now. She threatened to kick us out she said she will speak with her manager to get this done we are gone. My mother in law said good I want to speak to your manager. She said I’m speaking to my manager yous are gone. My mother in law then said just go away your making it worse. She walked over and shaped up to my mother in law In Her face mind you during Covid with no mask on. She said to my mother in law with her teeth grinded. Dnt you tell me what to do. Dawn’s husband stood witness to this all with a smirk on his face. She finally left yelling out to the whole park I will have u evicted. We were all in disbelief of what had just happen. The people staying across from us even come over to say that what happened was not on. I said to my husband even though she was kept going at you and was following you, you shouldn’t have sworn at her he agreed. I started packing up the van. Camron said no you know what I’m going up to them and I will see what is happening. He went into the office and they both apologized to each other and agreed it became escalated. Dawn also at this time said that when the lady asked where rob was the first time we said that he has gone for a sh#t. But this was not true we said shop we would not be that illmannered. They left amicable nothing more said. Although we felt uncomfortable we thought we will see out our holidays. We knew that if we left early we were not going to be able to get a refund. In the following days all around us we seen boats all around us on the ground. We took photos of this because we couldn’t believe how many we seen.Since that I did write some of this In The satisfaction email when I received it but never received a response. You could imagine my suprise when I phone to book in for another holiday to be advised I have been blacklisted. I questioned why We had been blacklisted she said because you are. I said I want to know the reason she put me on hold and said because of the incident that happened. I said so when were we going to be notified. She said that we are blacklisted and I dnt have to let you know. I said I dnt understand I would like to speak to a manager. She said she is the manager. I said you must have someone above you she said I’m the manager of the park and that’s how it is. I said I want to know how this come about. She said I talked with my manager to get you blacklisted. I said to her i thought u said you didn’t have a manager she said yes I do. I said well I would like to speak to her. She said no you can’t. She goes you can send an email I said no I’m on the phone to you right now why do I have to send an email can’t u get her to call me. She said no. I kept asking for the exact reason we were blacklisted she said your so passive aggressive you were there figure it out. It sounded like she had moved in her office to have an audience. She yells out dnt you swear at me Out of nowhere I said are you serious I have not sworn at you once I have my three kids here. She said well your probably like your husband swearing at me. She hung up on me. I phoned back because I wanted to know who I was talking to so I could write a formal complaint. The lady on the front desk put me back through to her for someone reason. She said look what do you want u just want a fight I said I want ur name and the exact reason that we were blacklisted. I said I think that’s a fair question. . I also said I wanted to know if she was the lady involved with what happened on site With her shaping up to my mother in law. I questioned why were we being victimized because others had boats with no issue. I advised I have the photos to prove. Dawn has poor management style kept aggravating the situation and she needs more management training. I said to her if we were so threatening and aggressive why weren’t we asked to leave immediately and told that we are getting blacklisted. Her reply was she chose for us to see out ur stay. She said that she had called you in the meantime and that you will call me. So why did she tell me absolutely you won’t call me without an email but then she got straight on the phone to you. She said to me no you asked for her details I said no I didn’t. I know customer service and I asked for you to call me not for someone’s private details. I believe she didn’t want us to go and give us a refund. I told her she was an absolute liar because she made out I swore at her. She also lied because she told me that no one was above her. She said you just keep going I’m writing all this down. I will call my manager right now again. I said if your going to call her again now why dnt you just get her to call me also. I wish that I had of recorded the conversation. I am clearly not the only one with issues. According to google the boat issue has happened just 6 months ago with someone else. Dawn also admitted that more training is needed. Amber Wilson and Geoff Jones in reviews have also complained about the management style. I am very disappointed how this has all been handled and now I feel like our names are being tarnished. I really want to take this matter further because the way me and my family has been treated is not on. If I knew we were blacklisted I would have followed this all up sooner but as I said my husband left the meeting with Dawn in a what we thought was a good place. Also should this have not been in writing or over the phone to avoid the escalation face to face in the park in front of everyone. When she first come looking for rob and couldn’t find him because he was at the shop. Why wasn’t he called ? Also maybe her husband shouldn’t be someone that is a witness as this is a bit bias. I have also previously stayed at other parks before including NRMA and have not had any issues.

Filthy Ensuite Site.

Reviewed By Suzanne H

This is a well positioned park opposite a beautiful beach and the drive thru site was great for the motorhome, the reason for the 2 star review was the filthy state of the ensuite. Paying over $100 a night for a site I at least expected a clean toilet and shower (ensuite toilet had the usual paper seal which showed it had supposedly been cleaned). As we were a late check in and the office was closed we had to clean and disinfect the toilet and shower using our own supplies before anyone could use it. We had just arrived from a stay at Shoal Bay Holiday Park where we also had an ensuite site, which was perfectly clean as was the beautiful entire park.

This is a difficult review because the staff are very amiable, the amenities great & super clean, the location is 5 star BUT the caravan sites are ridiculously small. It feels as though you're all on top of one another and there's barely room for both your annexe & car. Ingress & egress is difficult if the park is busy and could be challenging if you're not super confident on backing in. WiFi remains an issue despite management saying they were addressing it several years ago.

Clean park and good location

Cabin were small for the price $150 night, beds were good, air-con worked well. Good size ? TV. Very quiet park in terms of no noises guests during my stay,so quiet, found it strange no children here, no playground! Small pool but nice. What bother me with the cabin, was right next to toilet and shower block, so the outside lights are on the whole night and shined through the side window. For a week stayed, you would think they put me in another cabin. Didn't mention it as couldn't be bother to move after day 1. I found this park good location, short walk to shops, through the side lane of the bus port. The staff were nice and helpful if you needed anything! I found the park quiet boring and Byron wasn't the place for me, not sure what the fuss is about Byron! Beach were average and cafe very tactic looking, Woolworths centre was nice to visit. Some nice looking clothes shop! Been all around Australia, Byron would have to be my least favorite place and that's a week I won't get back ?

Rude management

Reviewed By natoates

There's no excuse for rudeness, which I experienced twice at the clog barn. I ordered a iced chocolate, I asked if it was possible to swap the cream for extra ice-cream. The girl serving said that was fine, but when I paid, I was charged a lot extra for the ice cream. The girl was very sorry, she said the manager made her do it. No-one thought to mention this to me, which was an issue when I had to pay. On a separate occasion, I sent an email with an enquiry. They never bothered to reply.
