Our inn is closely connected to Mr. Shosuke Ohara, one not partial to a drink or two and mentioned in a local folk song. Enjoy the wonderful overlooking view from the big baths and open-air baths.[Access Info]From Fukushima Airport: Take a limousine toward Aizuwakamatsu and get off at Aizuwakamatsu. Take a bus toward Higashiyama-onsen (20 min), and get off at Higashiyama-onsen. Walk 1 min.

Everyplace is so clean. 2 Employees are well trained, friendly and polite. 3 beddings seemed to be incense put in and I felt relaxing 4 There is waterfall in their location and though you can see it near the entrance but it would be much much better to stay there and enjoy hot springs seeing the waterfall 5 There are several hotspings and they have soft spring quality and you can have draft beer free after the bath( a cup per person though) 6 Good dinner and breakfast . I was excited to see very famous local Sake on their wine list which is very rare.(The name is ''Hiroki ''for your information) 7 A bus stop is in front of the hotel Only one exception is that they have only one elevator near the entrance and the hotel extends along the river so if you stay in the fartherst room from the entrane, you have to walk a long way to the elevator. So I advise you that you should select rooms closer to the entrance if you can.

1000-Year Old Bath, A Remarkable Onsen Hotel!

So many wonderful open-air mineral baths (main picture is on the river) & with the sister-hotel a total of 11 different baths can be enjoyed. For the 1000-Year Old Bath, it is not the marble one, so the next morning if the bath curtain is on the RIGHT side at the bottom of the stairway, be sure to experience it. I can hear the ladies from the past whispering "Ah, for a moment of peace..." There's a short stay package but then you won't have enough time to try the different baths. Complimentary little drink bar in the library area with great coffee/juice. We didn't have dinner in our room because I like the very chic atmosphere of the dining hall. Nice socially-distanced tables. Excellent flights of sake to compare. They use local ingredients with a healthy twist serving regional specialities, finishing with excellent local beef. Our room was the 2-bed/futon suite with an extra tatami room & a sitting area overlooking the river. I will look forward to my next "moment of peace" here!

Yamanogami Onsen Yuukaen is a historical hot spring inn with harmony with the rich nature of Iwate Hanamaki Onsenkyo. The calm atmosphere of natural wood and the fine technique of Miya carpenter make the lodging quaint. Reviewed By JuhaUittoI've visited and stayed at numerous onsens all over Japan over the past quarter century. Yuukaen is one of the best. The natural setting in the middle of the mountains is lovely. A river runs through it and the mountains are densely forested -- they even warn about bears. The hotel is beautiful (unlike so many other of the larger onsen hotels) as are the rooms. Ours had a spacious tatami room, a side room with two Western beds, a forest viewing room, and a comfortable bathroom. The dinner and breakfast were fabulous. Most importantly, it has two excellent bath areas, both with outdoor rotemburos. Could have stayed a week.

Outside private hot spring bath was nice and relaxable. Especially, Daiki san, the Japanese owner was really nice and helpful. I think staying with this Ryokan can worth every penny you spent. High recommended!!!

They gave me the corner room which looked slightly bigger than the other single rooms. Staff spoke limited English. Hotel room is compact but functional. Expect a small bathroom for the prices. Stayed four nights there. Cleaning services are performed if you remember to place the request magnet tag on the door. If not, you will find a bag hanging by your door with fresh towels and pyjamas. Great value but again, don’t expect concierge services if you speak limited Japanese.

The hotel itself is located just at the foot of the hachimantai mountain where the gorgious matsukawa (松川) gorge is and where the jukai (树海) drive starts. 5 mins drive will get you the mesmerising autumn leaf walk that will kick start your autumn adventures. The hotel itself spots a lucious onsen with option to be at the open air section. Alternatively, one can opt for a room with private bath tube made of cyprus wood and enjoy the same bath in the privacy of your room. The hospitality is almost butler like. The food is luxurious both in portions and quality. Let the photos tell the story. Unique to the hotel is the tofu and onsen egg bowl. Again, let the photos tell the story. Reviewed By ZuckerbussiI don't understand these mostly very good ratings here, but this "ryokan" offers only average to low value for money. Positive: ++ good location, very close to Aomori station (not Shin-Aomori where the shinkansen stops!) + good breakfast + friendly, older woman runs the place Average: ~ quite thin walls, you can easily wake up, when someone else e.g. uses the shared restroom ~ roomsize average for Japan but definitly not big Negative: --- only one shower for about 6-7 rooms and maybe max. 15-20 guests -- cleanliness: toilets are almost clean, shower-room is already run down and not very clean, really disgusting are the old mattresses and blankets A place which can only be recommended for low budget travellers.
