Delightfully peaceful farm B & B with great amenities
Reviewed By Tony VFor those who want a French countryside experience without sacrificing comfort, this place is perfect. This rustic farm has everything you would picture - rough stone walls, great views of winter wheat and grape vines, etc. The converted barn we stayed in was completely remodeled maintaining the look of French farm, but with an updated bathroom - complete with rain shower, towel warmer, etc. - and a quaint sitting room and comfy bed. Also, there's a lovely greenhouse enclosing an in ground pool and hot tub - delightful! My wife is a stickler on cleanliness - this place was spotless! The hosts were delightful people and extremely friendly. They are willing to help with reservations for restaurants or to guide one to nearby attractions. Breakfast was enormous and home made - fresh breads, cheese, hams, homemade jams, yogurt, pancakes. We came as a couple but it would be a great place for a family too!

The House welcomes you in 4 rooms accommodating 2 to 5 people, located upstairs of the house, which is in the heart of the medieval city, on the market square and close to local shops and animations. Valerie offers breakfast composed entirely of organic products, garden and / or from local producers. The house is located near the Beauval Zoo (5min) and the main castles of the Loire, without forgetting the many vineyards of the Val de Cher.

Reviewed By mwymdWith friends living in St. Aignan we needed a place to stay that fit our activities in the area-close by yet of the quality we like. Outside of the big cities this can be a challenge but the warmth with which our hosts took care of us was absolutely perfect. This is a large very old house in the middle of this very old small city with 3 guest accommodations that are modern and quite comfortable. We will always stay here when we are in St. Aignan and the Loire. The photo is in the 1000 year church. Wonderful.

Reviewed By kyairiI'm not sure how many times we've stayed here but I never tire of the place. Wonderfully comfortable beds, friendly owners and quirky decor. This is not an Ibis! Nothing wrong with Ibis, mind you, and I've stayed in many of them but they are simply places to sleep. Du Moulin is a real hotel experience and is everything I love about independent hotels. We'll be back again next year.

Expensive and disappointing, but lovely location.

However the hotel is expensive for what it offers. 119Euros gave me a room 3.5 x 3.5m with a view of a building in construction. The heating did not work and the duvet was too thin, the windows were single glazed, a large fan suggests the room is too hot in summer, the minibar was empty and the single glazed windows if opened admitted clouds of midges. Fortunately I had bought my own duvet and thanks to this enjoyed a good sleep till woken by the noise of the reception, the room being adjacent to the receptionist’s desk. The breakfast (9.50Eur) seemed reasonable value but when I went in at 0830 the room was full and the food had all been eaten. However when I returned later this had been replenished. In general this is a poorly managed hotel but with better management and substantial investment it could be wonderful. At present I recommend avoiding it but the other reviews suggest that my opinion is a minority one.

Private property 1.6 ha in the vineyard in the heart of Touraine, antique house in a property of the beginning of the eighteenth century. huge garden closed with walls. 3 guest rooms in the castle. Close the main castles of the Loire: Chambord, Chenonceau, Chaumont, Cheverny, Amboise, Loches, Blois, Tours, Valencay and Beauval Zoo. Comfort and quiet guaranteed. Wood fire in winter, heated pool in summer. Perfect place to share the pleasures of wine and passion of antiques.
Fabulous manoir
Reviewed By Hoppie5We arrived in a heat wave and our top floor room was very hot. The owner was extremely helpful and moved us the following night. Fabulous manoir, beautifully kept and presented. Lovely clean pool and terrace and a nice breakfast served in either the conservatory or dining room. Good location.

A good family room undermined by a dangerous shower room and poor communication
Reviewed By CharlesC668· The room was a very generous size - though we were only two, the room was sufficient for a family of six. Our beds were comfortable. The position in the pretty town of St Aignan was good and crucially, we had a secure place to store our cycles. · Unfortunately, a number of things did not go well. There was no-one there to meet us, though I had communicated by phone with the owner to alert him to the fact that we would be some 10-15 minutes later than our expected arrival time. After a long day's ride, one thing you don't want is to try to figure out where your room is. I had communicated by text in French with the owner who told me I could speak English with him; but when I called it was clear that he did not understand me. So communications were not great. When I asked where we could eat, he recommended a restaurant that was closed that evening (and is always closed on a Tuesday) which was unhelpful. By far the worst thing, though, was that the shower in our room was lacking a seal at the bottom of the shower door. This meant that water which hit the door went straight onto the floor, which was made of large ceramic tiles. These tiles turned into an ice rink with so much water sitting on the floor. It took me 3 minutes to have a shower and 20 minutes to clear up the resulting flood. I understand that the owner was aware of this problem but we were not alerted to it. Frankly, the shower room is thoroughly dangerous because of the slippery nature of the tiles with water on top of them. One slip could have ended my cycling holiday. The room should not be let our until the seal is attached to the door. Breakfast was not included and we ate a good breakfast at a nearby cafe. At no point did I see the owner and therefore did not have the opportunity to explain my dissatisfaction and my very real concern about the dangers posed by the shower room. I will not be returning to Les Chambre Pandas.

Reviewed By 532annapoBooked at booking.com specific "superior double room" for one night for a family with 3 children. Choosed this specific room (on ground floor) from all available rooms. When arrived-we were surprised that our room was given to another group (of three ladies) and we had to stay in another smaller room, on second floor - very uncomfortable for us (mostly because of staircase very dangerous for our walking baby). We were asked by owner to pay by cash upon arrival, and we did it. Actually, we and the children were to tired to think about payment proof, and did not ask for a bill. It was late evening, we only wanted to pay and go to sleep. A week after our stay I leaved not good review, and claimed to booking.com about changing the booked room by the owner. And now surprise-owner claimed to booking.com that I have not paid! Booking.com take my side because it was very suspicious-the owner claimed that I have not paid only after my review and it was a week after our stay. The owner very not reliable, I booked a lot of apartments in past and now, paid by cash without bills a lot of times...this is the first time I have such a bad experience. Pitty, such a nice hotel with such a not reliable owners.

B&B gem in the Loire
Reviewed By Roy_SHLa Mare aux Bambous represents exactly what I'm looking for in a B&B: to be immersed in the region, have a character, located centrally within the local attractions, and provide friendly hosting. The room was quaint and charming, the breakfast was a good start each day (first introduction to the region's famous apple juice), and Alain was very helpful ordering restaurants for dinner in Saint-Aignan. The kids loved the trampoline and the dog. An excellent stopover.

Francine is just wonderful
Reviewed By jackal8We were delayed after issues with our flight and rental car but Francine was very accommodating. In fact in spite of the fact that she spoke little English and we spoke little French, it was a wonderful stay. Magnificent old building on the Cher River with all manner of antelopes hanging off the wall. Wouldn't normally be my thing but it was like a throwback to colonial times. And Francine is the best part of the whole set up - a beautiful host who was warm and attentive.
