Hotel Balneario Orduna Plaza

Great Spa hotel, amazing rooms

Reviewed By fct1

The staff were very friendly, even provided complimentary herbal tea to take to room. This was a spa hotel that used to attract a lot of travellers when Orduna was busier. Now that it has been renovated, it is a major attraction. The interior garden is really pleasant and refreshing. Good to have a drink and relax playing cards. The rooms have jacuzzi and are huge. This hotel has modern lifts and architectural stairways. The walls have exposed original blue to tone stone, giving it a fantastic feel. I also think it was one of the few hotels we were at in the area that had some English language TV.

Perfect location nice rooms

Reviewed By stefy8888

The room was really nice, with a great attention to details. The location is super central, I wouldn’t ask better than this! The only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars is because the room was quite noisy ( but this is because of the central position).

SMELLS HORRIBLE!!!

Reviewed By Zeyno K

I can’t believe we had to stay here because we were very knackered from our long journey. Me and my partner were happy to see that we found somewhere that has space and were open at 6am, however the condition of the room was TERRIBLE! The lady told us the light doesn’t turn on, we were so tired that we weren’t even worried about the light. But as we were trying to get to the room we stayed in, number 24, we realised the basement floor smelt of nothing but SEWAGE!! When we entered our room the smell was unbearable, never smelt such thing. We were trying to force ourselves to sleep, worst night ever! Tried to speak to someone in the reception, the lady wasn’t even there? So called budget hotel but they charged us 55 euros for this horrendous experience. Don’t recommend for anyone!

Basic accommodation, ok for a night or two

Reviewed By kimberleysarah1

Positives: - short walk from airport bus stop and Guggenheim - friendly and helpful check in staff - pretty comfortable bed Negatives: - room smelled of cigarette smoke even though the rooms are non-smoking. We found evidence of cigarettes on the window ledge, likely from the last guest who ignored the rules - I sleep quite deeply but my partner was disturbed by noise and light from outside so didn’t sleep very well Overall it was fairly basic accommodation but suitable for the night. We booked very last minute so didn’t expect the most value but if we had more options we would likely have booked somewhere else, especially if we were staying longer than one night.

Not Right For Me

Reviewed By Jane E

I will preface this review with the comment that just because this hotel didn't work for me doesn't mean it wouldn't for others. I am walking the Camino de Santiago using a luggage transfer service that requires someone be available to receive the luggage the day of arrival and deliver it back to the service the day of departure. The Art Lodge had no staff on site during my one night stay except the cleaner who is there 11.00 to 13.30-14.00. When I asked about luggage receipt the respondent was quite dismissive - if the bag wasn't delivered before 13.30 there would be no one to receive it. Luckily it was delivered while the cleaner was still there. I hardly slept worrying about luggage collection the next day and after speaking with the service in the morning waited outside until they came to collect the bag. Camino walkers have a "passport" that is stamped each day and shown at the end in Santiago de Compostela to justify issuing of the Compostela by the pilgrim office for verification of the journey. With no staff on site there was no stamp that day of course. I had read other reviews that noted limited reception hours but none that said there were no hours. Perhaps I missed that comment. Luggage woes aside the hotel occupies half a floor on the 1st floor (2nd to Americans) of a building that seems to be otherwise apartments. Entry is by codes for the building door, hotel door and room door that are sent when the room is ready for occupancy. My room was very small with a window opening onto an airshaft that also hosted windows from 2 other rooms. The room was quite dark and felt a bit exposed with other windows so close. Everything was very clean and in good condition with pretty decor of palm trees and birds on a feature wall. There was a good A/C unit and the wifi was excellent. There was also a kettle and an espresso maker with no pods. There was nowhere to hang towels in the bathroom area - no hook or rail or even a surface. Overall this hotel just didn't work for me at all but all the other positive reviews suggest that I am an outlier.

Begona

The perfect place to stay in Bilbao

Reviewed By gobunti

Very well situated in all respects, particularly if you arrive by train, the Begona is a tad quirky but well provisioned, calm and comfortable with generous room space. It really is excellent value. No breakfasts but plenty of choice just outside. We would definitely come back and I cannot recommend the Begona too highly.

Eco Hotel Rural Angiz

Wonderful rural hotel located in the Urdaibai Natural Park

Reviewed By mbarallat

We visited the hotel with my family (two rooms, one for us, a couple with one child and another one for my parents). The hotel is an old Basque house (baserri), very well connected to the region´s landmarks. The beautiful villages of Mundaka, Bermeo, the beach of Sukarrieta, and a bit futher, Bakio and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (protrayed in "Game of Thrones"). All within 10-15 minute drive. The hotel itself is next to a "txakoli" winery and some quiet, beautiful forest. There is a farm next to it, with goats, great experience for little kids. It has parking and there is also a nice playground for children. The rooms are quiet and have a nice balcony. We took a large room (with veranda and bath). There are also little apartments, with kitchen, which I would recommend for those with children. The owner, Marco, is a great guy, as well as the other people working at the hotel. We forgot our passport and he contacted us, so that we didnt get a bad surprise in the airport :) The hotel offers breakfast, nice, with local ecological products (great yougurt!). There is no restaurant, but some 15 minutes walking there is a great place to eat (Torre Madariaga), with striking views of the Ria de Urdaibai. I totally recommend the hotel for those looking for a quiet rural retreat and for families.

Nice, quiet place

Reviewed By Zwalie

Really nice, quiet place. Very friendly staff and clean. Spacious rooms, nice beds and a balcony with a great view. Maybe because of Covit, but the restaurant was closed and there was not so much to do in the hotel itself. When you need some time to switch off, this is your place to go.
