It's a decent place with warm shower considering price I paid which is about $20 for one night good for 3 persons. It's generally clean. Aircon is dated which can be noisy but with the price you pay, you can't expect more. A very basic hotel good for overnight sleep.

Great fit for budget travelers

Reviewed By James H

The place is perfect for those traveling with a tight budget. As for me, we were wanting to explore the city and the neighboring nature destinations - so it didn't make sense to check in an expensive hotel as we didn't plan to lounge in the hotel. The room rates are budget friendly - the beds and the AC was okay. Room had a tv with cable, but wifi was not working most of the time, but its okay because Mobile data was strong enough as the hostel is within the city. The only issue I have was with the bathroom. It was nice, had a sink, a hot/cold shower and a large toilet. However, the bathroom had a divider on the floor separating the shower and toilet - but the toilet part of the room had no floor drain. So tendency is, if you spill or splash water to the toilet part of the bathroom, it will stay on the floor and would flood the other half. But all in all, the stay was great.

Nice view, bad food

Recommended by many for its views and indeed, the views are ok: from the boulevard to the bell tower. Acoustic singer on weekends. We had dinner at the roofdeck bar. We ordered the bestseller: barkadahan package, all meat. Maybe we didnt read the menu well but there were three meats: grilled pork belly n sweet sauce, chicken inasal in sweet sauce, and chicken necks! Whoa! At 650, that was a bad deal! They said the singer will start at 8pm. We left 8:30 and they were still sitting there looking at their gadgets. Tsk tsk tsk!

Two adults and a child. I had a busy a week so an overnight stay at the 2-bedroom in this hotel is an answered prayer. Big bed comfortable sheets for my daughter and I plus the separate room For our companion. The place is near to Restaurants and smaller Eateries. We bought food from Outside and enjoyed it inside our room In the small Kitchen. The showers were great and the rooms Are Clean when we got in. As usual - since this is not the first time we stayed in the place. They were quick to act when one of the mirrors in the main bedroom almost fell while my daughter was sitting near the area. I am Glad of the staff who acted right away. They also fixed the TV and cable issue. Yes we Will Always come back to this hotel. I hope they can find a Way to Offer breakfast maybe in the rooftop ?

Near city mall

Reviewed By BlueSkyTravel_D

It's decent basic hotel. Shower water pressure isn't that strong though and there's no elevator. There is a laundrymat downstairs but when I asked to borrow iron, they don't have one which is a bit hassle for me as I had to attend a wedding. Advantage is that it's very close to city mall where you have many shop options.

Quarantine for OFWs at Southview Hotel

The guest service at Southview Hotel in Dumaguete sucks! Certainly a hotel/quarantine facility I would recommend. My observations are as follows: 1. Poor hygiene in the preparation and handling for food and water. -The kitchen crew cutting the carrots in the kitchen was not wearing a mask. -The utensils (spoon and fork) were just left uncovered in an open area outside the kitchen without proper cover. Viruses and bacteria can easily contaminate it. 2. The water provided is one 350ml mineral water (the smallest size) per meal. With this quantity the guest are prone to experience constipation due to the lack of adequate drinking water. 3. The delivery of food is delayed. Breakfast should be delivered to guests at 7am but they deliver it only at 9am on 2 occasions. 4. The front desk does not provide the contact name and number of their Manager because she reasons that it is a confidential information. A clear cover up, which indicates that they are not prepared to hear out and action on issues raised by the guests. Please to the management of Southview hotel. Kindly execute your job well.

1888 Beach Resort

An average beach resort

Reviewed By whatmaryloves

The resort is quite basic with no television or toiletries. Wifi is a bit spotty and there are areas with weak to zero signal. We found the food a bit overpriced too given the quality. But serving size (except for breakfast plates) is good enough for sharing. But make sure to check your bill before paying as there was an instance our bill got mixed up with another table. The place too is a mosquito heaven. Make sure to apply insect repellant if you decide to stay or dine here. Mosquitoes are also present even inside the rooms. The beach wasn’t spectacular as well as it was rocky. Best to hire a boat and swim far from the shore. At least this place offers a relatively spacious pool. This hotel is also available through airbnb where we booked but the staff was not aware of this. And they won’t let us check in without the permission of the owner. And they had difficulty getting in touch with her hence having to wait for about an hour being bitten by mosquitoes. The owner tried to make it up for it though by extending the hours for the pool. Note that the place is quite far from everything else so pack everything you need during your stay.

Not just for us!

Went here to stay for a night but decided to opt out as early as we can. The place is not just for us. ! Bed and pillows smells foul. Bathroom and comfort room is definitely not comfortable. ! The room smells like it hasn’t been cleaned/occupied for a long time. ! The water had a rusty smell. ! The AC doesn't work. Staying in the room feels like you're inside an oven. After about 5 minutes of staying, we raised our concerns and asked if we could transfer to another room, and they were kind enough to let us do so. However, it seems that all rooms were the same. We decided to Check-out and try other place on the same moment and asked for a refund, and thankfully they agreed! For those looking for a clean, decent and on “budget” pension. Try the others. This is not the place for you.
