10 Bed and Breakfast Inns in Cuenca: Best hotel deals for 2023

May 1, 2023 Lean Nau

One of Spain’s most gravity-defying hill towns, Cuenca clings to steep limestone cliffs that tower above twin ravines. The UNESCO-listed town center retains its medieval Moorish character, though a peek inside many “hanging houses” reveals the town’s modern-day fixation on abstract art.

Posada de San Jose

Little charming hotel located in a XVII Century building in the heart of the old quarter of Cuenca, a declared World Heritage City.

Rustic charm in a fascinating city

Reviewed By Naana

This hotel is just lovely. Situated in a historical building a few steps away from the cathedral, it is located on the edge of the gorge overlooking the Huecar river and I think that just about every room must have a spectacular view. Our room was really spacious with a big double bed and a sofa bed, two big armchairs with a good sized wardrobe and the most amazing view across the gorge. There was a large bathroom with a tub and separate shower, all of it spotlessly clean. Friendly welcome at check-in and a small but good selection for breakfast including local pastries - the breakfast is served in the dining room with views across the gorge. There are lots of steps up and down inside the hotel so it might not suit somebody with reduced mobility. The Posada de San Jose is full of art and interesting artefacts, it's a really beautiful place offering rustic charm and reliable Spanish hospitality.

Flora on reception was excellent though her English was not very good and nor was our Spanish she used Google translate on her computer to help she was extremely helpful telling us the best places to eat. She also told us which way to walk around the old town so as to avoid the tourists.

Totally disappointed with the service and care for customers

Reviewed By Ms_LondonBCN

I stayed in this hotel with my family and overall we were happy with the facilities (quite basic). Nothing to complain about given the price is not expensive. The location is also really good. However, I am completely disappointed by the service this give to customers. It is clear that once you have payed for your stay, they don't care more about you. Unfortunately, we left some of our belongings in the room and realised the day after we had departed. We called Posada Huecar and they confirmed they had it and kept it for us. I gave all my contact detailed. To my disappointment, I have arranged for a courier to pick it up (as agreed with them in several calls) and I now find they have thrown everything to the bin. In my conversation with them they really seemed they didn't care about the situation. What is their right to get rid of something that doesn't belong to them? was it that difficult to inform me before doing anything? Covid is really no excuse for this. Really disappointed. I would definitely recommend going somewhere else if you want to be with someone that cares about you and works of your overall experience (pre, during and post stay)

This is a perfect hotel for exploring Cuenca. Our room was very clean with beautiful views. Beds were super comfortable. The bathroom was very modern with a wonderful shower. Not a big deal but they could use some conditioner to go with the shampoo. The breakfast was continental but just what we wanted. We would definitely stay here again. Very charming hotel.

Super friendly staff

We didn't actually stay at this hostel, but stopped in Cuenca for a few hours between Madrid and Valencia. We planned on leaving our luggage at the bus station but unfortunately that was not possible on the day. In spite of the language barrier, once she understood what our problem was the receptionist very kindly offered to keep our bags by the desk for a few hours while we visited the old town, even though we were not making use of the hostel. I can't say anything about the quality of the rooms, but judging from my experience I'm sure the guests are very well taken care of.

Okay Hostel

Reviewed By Slickers18

Hostel was okay, room and bathroom was clean. Shower was a nightmare, went all over the floor. Hostel wasn't far away from the old town and there was free parking over the train tracks. Few shops around. Wifi didn't work on all devices. Stayed in cheaper hostels that were nicer.
