Reviewed By worldtraveller0819702 days before the planned trip I was informed that despite of my reservation they don‘t have a room available due to a „technical IT issue“. Now everything else is booked due to vacation period, holiday spoiled - unprofessional, avoid ! Never again for me.

A Quiet Retreat
Reviewed By 818maryannbHaving read previous reviews we knew what to expect for our overnight stay. Sokrates is more of a retreat/spiritual/seminar-type hotel. Large and airy public areas and bright spacious modern bedrooms. Plenty of shelving/hanging space, two armchairs, and two safes! Wide balcony with a table and chairs outside the patio doors although it was not private i.e. other guests could walk by. Complimentary water but no fridge. There was also complimentary tea at a "station" outside our room for guests to enjoy though no coffee. The bathroom was a wet room (shower area with shower curtain) which is not my favourite style though it was good enough. The double bed was two singles pushed together (often the case in Swiss hotels) and the lack of wifi in the room was a little inconvenient. The dining area was spacious and both dinner and breakfast were good.

A bit dissapointing ... room was dirty with mold.
Reviewed By RobertDO87Well, I mist admit it is a wonderfull property. Great location (a bit hard to find, yes, however GPS helps), easy parking and super friendly concierge!! My compliments to him. A stand up guy, friendly and helpfull, always with a smile on his face! The desk has limited hours, not a big deal, and even if we got there late a note was left outside (key left in a mail box close by) it was of no hurdle. However we were a bit disappointed. We booked a room a week prior to our stay and by the number of cars (none but ours) and a bit off the beaten track I suppose we were the only ones staying, the room was dirty and stuffy. We had spider webs in the room corners, and even a frindly but mute pet. A dangling dry ladybug off her final resting place. at the center of the room there was a spider web liliana in which the poor bug was hanging. I wonder how the cleaning staff missed this one? Further to this, there is a window next to the shower with curtains. The result is that mould grew on both. The soap dispenser in the shower was empty (the one close to the sink not), a misshap, howere the management had a week to prepare a room, more than enough time to properly look after guests. Linen had some hairs, which were not ours. Breakfast was ok, maby a bit limited, however if we were the only ones, I understand! Ps. We were told that the proprety will be under renovation. Hoping that our experience was just a misshap in which a lot of small things whent wrong.

Amazing staff and the new boss
Reviewed By 26511709876Passed through this hotel for a few nights, had an amazing experience. After craziness of living in a huge city being near the lake and staying at such a quiet place was the best relaxing moment ever. The nearby church bells made my stay quite special, because big cities have completely different sounds. The new boss of the place does so much to make everyone feel welcomed and makes sure the place provides the best experience to everyone who comes there! The food and drinks were great, and people who work at the hotel make you feel very welcomed. To me personally service and human touch are very important at any place I'm staying, and Frohsinn is definitely the place for people like me. Definitely recommend as a hotel, place to dine and have some great relaxing times!

Welcome to the beautiful Lake of Constance. Behind ancient walls we offer 3 newly-renovated, comfortable guestrooms with breakfast in a friendly atmosphere. Each room has its own washbasin and a TV. Modern bathroom on the same floor. The lake is only 500m away. In the village you will find a food store, a bakery, a post office and a lido.
Absolutely first class stopping point
Reviewed By KingsleyjamesflintAs you drive into Uttwil, the hotel is easily seen, a beautiful 300 year old timbered house. Our room was everything you could want on a journey, typically well furnished Swiss. The Proprietaire was charming and friendly. The bed was comfortable and we slept very well, despite the room being on the main road, because the windows are so well insulated and the blinds are great, so you could easily sleep in after dawn. The bathroom excellent. We asked for no breakfast, but the facilities looked welcoming. There is a decently sized car park. Pretty well faultless and brilliantly situated, a short walk from the lake, where there is a very nice lakeside restaurant serving decent salads and burgers etc.

Reviewed By travelgrumpyStayed here for two days for a work training course. Early check-in was possible, which was very efficient and friendly. Location is good and can be reached by bus. The room was very modern, with a frosted glass shower in the room. Rooms are large and the corridors are dark during the night - lightswitches are there to have light to walk around. Bed nice and hard. There is a honesty bar where you can try the monastry beers. The function room was of a good size and the provided equipment were good. Lunch and dinner are served as share dishes - e.g. soup in a terrine, main course on a large platter - so serve yourselves. The breakfast was good, no hot dishes, but enough other options. Snacks, etc during the breaks were provided and tasty. Happy to visit again as a private person to relax and enjoy the quietness of the place, the church and the chapel

Reviewed By jannie512017Hotel rooms were well appointed, bed extremely comfortable. Large rooms, high ceilings, windows open fully onto side garden. Bathroom ultra modern with huge shower. Management and staff made us feel very welcone.
