Nagashi Soumen Dokoro Enemon

Our friend who had done serious research on food places to visit in Japan, suggested this as a lunch stop enroute to Matsumoto. We had so much fun taking turns to feed each other with soumen which the restaurant recommend we dip into cups of sauce. The soumen is rather bland in taste, but it is meant to be eaten cold and with the specially prepared sauce, the taste is good and unique. We also ordered tempura and fish to supplement our meal. I highly recommend a stop here if you are in the vicinity. Definitely a fun exercise for both young and old to 'catch' the soumen travelling down a bamboo trough towards you.

This place: Koshu Hoto Kosaku Kitaguchi Ekimae in Kofu was absolutely delicious!! I made a stop in Kofu JUST TO EAT the hoto here!! It was my first time and I'm so glad I stopped to try it. It was a cold and rainy evening ~ my husband and I walked a block from the train station just to try this wonderful comfort food! Fortunately, there was an English menu. We ordered one pork hoto and one order of tempura and shared it. It was enough for both of us. The noodle was super chewy and the soup ~ more a stew was oh so tasty! I would recommend a detour from where ever you may be to try the noodles here!

Good for Houtou noodle & simmered chicken organ.I didn’t know their soba noodle is much popular than Houtou which is well cooked together with pumpkin in hot pot and very popular noodle in Yamanashi. So, they have only one choice of Houtou but very tasty.Simmered chicken organ is no doubt tasty.Truly recommend to try!

Had kinoko houtou. Served in a large steel bowl with large servings of noodles (oh how thick and hearty they are!) and 6 or 7 vegetables.Very good flavor. Stable quality and service as I visited this reataurant 4 times so far in the span of 4 years.Good location in Kofu train station area. The only wish to this reataurant is the pricing and the serving size. If they could provide smaller servings at lower price, that could attract more wide range of customers, as their bowls are all large and relatively expensive for noodles.
