Third visit over the years, food good service a little slow but food is fresh ad good so rather wait than have fast food rubbish.

We are family run pub/restaurant in a beautiful setting within Castle Cary Holiday Park, serving freshly cooked, locally sourced food at reasonable prices. We welcome families (and dogs!) and cater for vegetarians and special diets. Our Opening hours are Monday - Friday 5pm-11pm, Saturday and Sunday 12 noon-11pm. Kitchen Opening times Monday - Friday 5pm-9pm, Saturday 12noon - 2.30pm then 5pm-9pm, And Sunday 12noon-8pm.

Welcomed warmly by Andrew who served our drinks and took our curry orders. Both the Beef & Vegetarian options were delicious served with half chips, half rice....thanks to Christine.
Andrew also took the time to answer any questions we had regarding the history of the building. Conversation led to Hogmanay and we're now looking to see in the New Year in this charming Inn at Freetown.

Booked a table for three adults and a child, my son being 18 months old. Went straight through to our table upon arrival which was great. Didn't have to wait long to be served our drinks or the menu. Apart from it took them a long time to bring us my sins drink. Food ordered and arrived very quickly which was great.
The only downside was it felt like we where a nuisance. We where sat in the corner out of the way. We were not checked on once our food arrived. Staff where very unfriendly and we felt very alienated. When we'd finished we waited for our table to be cleared but no one came. We left to pay the bill, there was no goodbye or thank you for going etc. Not happy at all.

ReadingLasses has new owners and opened its doors on 25th July 2015 after a total refurbishment. We are still a bookshop specialising in Women's Studies and a tearoom with the same wonderful staff preparing and serving great food. We particularly specialize in great coffee and homebakes. Come and relax in our cosy lounge and read a book or sample our homemade scones and baking in our middle café or lunch in the rear café.

ReadingLasses is warm and welcoming. It's a cafe which serves the most delicious soups, sandwiches and bakes, with cooked meals at some times of the year. The flavours are unusual: beetroot and butterbean soup, chargrilled pepper and cream cheese sandwiches, pear and ginger scones to name but three. We tried the latest range of award-winning QuirkyTiffins. Truly delicious. After our meal we spent a couple of hours browsing the books. An interesting selection. I was able to stock up on some Maeve Binchy for the winter evenings. All in all, an absolute delight.

Travelling through to Stranraer, hunger got the better of us and we tried to find somewhere to eat in Newton Stewart. It's mostly one high street and we drove down, saw a couple of places but nothing caught our eye, so we took a right and headed round and back, when we spotted this place near to sainsburys. Not sure we would have seen it from the road.
Its all upstairs so didn't know how busy it might be, but when we went upstairs it was full apart from one large table that turned out to be booked. The guy who ran it said there would be a space in 10 mins, so we ordered and sat in the hallway where there was Seating available.
He came and got us shortly afterwards and we had two lovely jacket potatoes, with salad and dressing, generous filings and cooked to perfection.
A great find in the end, it said outside the business was for sale, but it looked to be doing a roaring trade and the quality of food was really good.

Stopped off for lunch and found this gem by accident. Food was delicious, the macaroni was lovely and cheesy. The home made apple crumble was so tasty. Would definitely return and would highly recommend to others to stop off. Large selection of home baking on show too.

Visited Wigtown to have a look around and decided to grab a small takeaway meal (square sausage and egg roll). Normally, a meal such as this, cooked fresh, would take around 5 mins.
With about 4 or 5 tables either with food or waiting for some, the waitress said it would be around 10 minutes. Fair enough, I can wait. After 20 mins I asked for progress on this simplest of meals and was told it would be 2 montes.
Whilst I was waiting, I overheard an elderly couple complain about the quality of the food resulting them in not paying for it. After a further 20 minutes of waiting, I didn’t bother speaking to the waitress again and just left.
The place is a diabolical Shambles of an establishment who have no business being in the food service business. I’d advise nipping up to the Co-op and buying a £2 Sandwich.

Evening meal with our family between Christmas and New Year. Superb with the normal cheerful service of Laura behind the bar, the ever pleasant Wendy in the dining room and Head Chef Grant in the 'engine room'. Just managed to dine here before the end of January, this time; Laura pleasantly and cheerfully multi-tasking from behind the bar into the dining room and on this occasion, Dylan (metaphorically of course) wearing the 'Toque blanche'. 'Chef's Special' of Chicken in a Chilli and Garlic sauce with stir-fried vegetables really 'hit the spot'. Dined every month here during 2017 and with good fortune the same will apply throughout 2018. Good value, good food but above all, pleasant service.

Lovely relaxed cafe/bookshop in a gorgeous little town. I had fresh out of oven cherry/almond cake & great coffee. Peaceful ambience, nice garden, books aplenty and two people in the cafe who clearly are proud of the area they live in. Add this place to your to do list!

A wonderful place for coffee, cake and great atmosphere.
The cakes and cookies are absolutely delicious..made by the owner, Jennifer. The best carrot cake in the world, and the most delicious strawberry tarts with light pastry.
Lattes and hot chocolates hit the spot, and service with a smile.
