I have to admit to having low expectations: this is a âsmall town placeâ, many tourists pass through. Itâs on the main drag...Letâs be honest, its likely to be high quantity, good value, poor service and mediocre quality. But WOW! Was I wrong, or was I wrong?! This restaurant is exceptional. And Iâm not just saying that: Iâve eaten (as you will see if you can be bothered reading my other reviews) in some of the best restaurants in Europe and Australasia. Yup. This was good. Very good. Service was attentive but not too much. Menu was short & sweet. Wine was local and good value.And BOY-OH! Were the fresh, local mussels served fresh and creatively seasoned! You bet!The coconut, coriander, chilli and lime were absolutely the BEST mussels Iâve ever tasted. (And Iâve tasted a few)!Definitely highly recommended. And do book, especially in summertime if you want a romantic and relaxed table in the quaint courtyard area. Yup quintessential NZ at its best. Donât miss out!

Decided to eat here on a Friday night before the movies, we both had the fillet steak, perfectly cooked, delicious potato gratin and sauces...dessert was just as good, definitely reccomend....not the place for a cheap feed though, but well worth the price with the service and quality of food.

Took the opportunity to book an evening meal at Twelve Trees for a birthday celebration. Welcomed at the door, lovely table close to the fire and friendly, efficient service. My meal was one of the best I have had the pleasure to experience. Well thought out dishes with a fantastic blend of flavours, without "trying too hard". Absolutely loved the beets and goats cheese and the ginger medley dessert was gorgeous (ok I'm a huge ginger fan). All reasonably priced too. Thanks to the team at Twelve Trees for memorable evening out.Thank you so much for choosing our restaurant to celebrate your birthday.
