Warning! The herring was totally overfried, to dry to eat, and an extremely tiny dollop of lingonberry jam. The fish soup equally disappointing. Like dishwater with unrecognizable pieces of fish and almost without flavour. When telling our friends about this awful meal they too had had exactly the same experience with the same dishes last year!

The location is peculiar-next to a large cistern in the VIsby harbor-and the exterior is unassuming with its red barrack style. Do not let that deter you! We sat outside,facing the inner harbor on a beautiful summer evening. There is inside seating as well, but on that day the choice was easy.A fast food place it is not, as every dish is prepared from scratch and with great care. The food arrived exactly at the time it was promised. Smoked salmon with fresh potatoes went quite well with an Argentinean Chardonnay. The bread was very good. Service was friendly and personal.

Matsalen, which was renovated in the spring of 2017, is the new meeting place for both hotel guests and visitors.

This is a very good breakfast restaurant for hotel guests, but for dinners I do not recommend my friends to go here. The interior in the restaurant is dark and not very pleasant and the food is not exceptional.

they had tons of pizza options but i had had too much pizza the past few days. the lovely gentleman manning the register invited me in the back to make sure the ingredients i wanted on my pasta would be ok...so, i know the kitchen is clean and my pasta was yummy. my husband's pizza was also good and they accommodated his request for more meat. lovely staff and indoor and outdoor seating options. don't forget to ask for your pizza to be sliced!Thank you for your kind words!
