Went for the first time for valentines dinner tonight. Fabulous restaurant setting. Not too hot, not too cold. Lovely private booth. Great for couples or families or group bookings I expect. Nothing was too much bother for the staff. Attentive without 'being in your face'. The food was exceptional. We had starters and mains and absolutely no complaints about either. Good quality food, cooked well and timely.Would certainly recommend to anyone.Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I will pass your comments on to the team working who will be equally as delighted. Many thanks,

We stumbled on the Potarch while staying on Deeside and looking for somewhere to have lunch. We were intending to sit outside at one of the picnic tables as we had our wee dog with us and it was too hot to leave her in the car. However, the manager invited us inside as the place is very dog friendly. We were lucky to get a table as it was busy being Sunday. Once seated and restraining our excitable pup the manager again appeared with a water bowl for the dog and proceeded to give her some gravy bone biscuits claiming he always fed the dogs first! The lunch menu is more adventurous than many smaller restaurants but we quickly opted for the set lunch menu for £12.95 for three, yes three, courses. What a good decision that turned out to be. A choice of five starters of which I chose classic mussels with shallots and wine which came in a small cast iron pot piping hot and plenty for a starter all large plump and juicy. My wife had king prawns with chilli and followed with fish and chips which she declared moist and very tasty the modest portion being ample for a three course lunch. I had the slow braised beef casserole also in a cast iron pot which kept it very hot. For me, who adds all sorts of flavours to such things, it was a bit bland but nonetheless very tasty and tender and ample portion. We could both have been satisfied with that but since sweet was included I opted for the Eaton Mess which was a delight with strawberries and she had a fresh fruit salad topped with a lemon sorbet which she said was wonderful. We shall certainly make a point of eating here again. The staff were really excellent led by the dog friendly manager who who assume is French and he certainly knows how to run this small but popular restaurant, quietly directing the staff and watchful of the customers.Thank you for your wonderful review! Our staff thank you for your comments and we are pleased that your little dog enjoyed it too!We hope to see all three of you again in the future.

Wonderful day so sitting outside was very pleasant. Our order was prompty taken and our sandwiches and soup arrived quickly. The soups were delicious and hot and the sandwiches were made with their own bread which was beautiful. My only complaint was that after lunch I wanted to buy a loaf of bread but the last onese were sold whilst we ate! Another time, we will be back! I left with some of their frozen meals which were very good. I'd recommend this place happily and can confirm it was busy, testament to good produce and service. Many thanks for your kind review and good to hear that you enjoyed your lunch! I'm glad you came to Finzean on a sunny day and were able to eat outside making the most of our stunning rural setting. I'm afraid our bread does sell quickly so if you know you are coming out to Finzean do phone ahead and we can set a loaf aside for you.

We had a warm friendly welcome. Our room and toilet was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, I had to be careful getting in and out of my bed as the room has a dormer roof, this was not a problem. Our evening meal was fine nothing special but breakfast was superb. Fresh fruit and yogurt was the breakfast appetiser while our scrambled eggs and salmon on toast was beautiful. The owners were very helpful and friendly and we will go back when we are back in the area.

We are only visiting for a week but returned to the corner house several times. Wonderful soups - amazing value. Good selection of sandwiches and toasties, attractive cakes and pastries and quite the best two-shot latte for miles! Complemented by smiling, welcoming staff - a rarity nowadays! There is also a comprehensive gift shop with wide range of greeting cards. Makes me wish I lived here, we'll be back.

Restaurant at Loch Kinord Hotel

We had mixed expectations of the restaurant here mainly due to the reaction of locals when we said we were dining here. Bemusement. Astonishment. Sincerest best wishes. This could be a cracking little hotel if it wasn't for the funereal atmosphere and the sense that one of the guests had recently passed away - but nobody wanted to talk about the elephant (or body) in the room. The service was suitably somber, (we were one of a handful of guests at dinner), yet somehow the food provided a remarkable resurrection in fortunes. Surprisingly well prepared and cooked, with decent efficient service, even if the eyes in the painting of a Lord behind us seemed to follow us around the room.Yes the atmosphere was like an Adams Family reunion (but without the laughs), but with a little extra love and a defibrillator, this hotel could become a fabulous spot.

Our Good Pub Guide bible once again came into its own. Not a Red Entry this time but certainly not a disappointment.A 40 minute drive from Crathie we found ourselves and lots of other people at this very welcoming Inn, many sitting outside enjoying the 20 degree plus sunshine. Very good food was enjoyed, three fish and chips, one beef burger, followed by plum and cinnamon crumble with custard, delicious, and ice cream with fudge sauce. We are in the vicinity for another week with luck we might make it back.
