Following information from internet we thought this is a Russian place. But it is UKRAINIAN - what we were told by the waitress :-). What comes to food. Soljanka (soup) was great. Side dishes were good. Sausages were good. Draniki were good. Local beer was OK. Service was great .... Would go back there!

You have to deal with the lousy service at times but the food is fresh and expertly prepared. Cuisine is a mix of Armenian/Georgian/Turkish with some deviations, also featuring some common Russian dishes. Portions are small, so if really hungry, prepare to order a few dishes. Presentation gets high points. Some items on the menu are definitely worth trying. We had Artanish and Erebuni several times but their khinkali (Georgian dumplings) are a must. I particularly liked the lamb and found beef ones a little dry. Special skill is required to eat them, making sure you drink the broth inside a khinkali and eat the filling at the same time. Sounds simple? Not so much considering the size of a dumpling. They usually offer you a choice of complimentary wine or one other drink to start your dining experience. The semi-dry wine we were offered came from Serbia. It is drinkable (and free!) but if you like dry wines, stick to their Caucasian medicinal tea (non-alcoholic). It sounds strange but it is a healthy drink and tastes good. Check their business lunch specials and be prepared to wait for khinkali as they make them from scratch. Takes anywhere from 10 to 20 min.

Recently discovered this place and happy, location is excellent nearby Kremlin in Rozhdestvenskaya riverside touristy area, with available parking, spacious well designed dining room in a heritage building, excellent for 30pax+ group lunch, speedy smooth service, no crowd daytime as they are a bit away from the main daily office staff stream, Russian food they offered on a group menu was non pretentious but good.

As with many of my choices, a big thanks to the Lonely Planet for this one.A converted merchant's house with a great and interesting menu--pigs ears with mustard, pea soup with smoked meat in a rye pot, calf kidneys in sour cream--and beautifully presented food.Staff welcoming and friendly.Worth the slight detour from the centre of NN to get there--plus you get to see interesting sights on the way there and back.

The only problem with this place is that its interior kind of doesn't correspond with the food it serves. The food's excellent, very authentic, but the decor reminds me more of a bar or coffeeshop than a restaurant. Too casual for the price tag? Anyway delicious food, not too much wait, good beer.

This restaurant was fantastic. My husband and I went here based on reviews, and they were spot on. The decoration follows the "Ekspeditsia" idea - everything looks rough and outdoorsy, lots of maps. But the tables are nice and the chairs are quite comfortable.The food is fantastic. First, they brought us a bread basket. I have lived in Russia for 6 years and this is the FIRST TIME I have received a free bread basket. The braed was delicious. We drank their homemade mors - both cranberry and bilberry and it was also great. Over the course of our four day stay we ate here twice, and therefore managed to eat quite a lot. Therefore, we can personally recommend: the deer sausage, duck salad, wild boar, wildfowl and deer burger.The only minus is thinking too hard about what you are eating. I couldn't order the moose, even though it's probably also great.

Visited on my own for an afternoon snack and could have stayed the evening.Dumplings were divine and accompanied by a tasty IPA.Be prepared that the card machine may not work and have cash on hand - but Iâd be prepared to pay two times the cash for these tasty morsels!Highly recommend the salmon dumplings.
