The food is ok, but is at Moscow prices, so totaly out of place in a city like Nizhnyi. Otherwise good choice of Russian dishes, including several choices of game. Good quality, but not impessive. One expects more when paying for bortsch 3 times more than a restaurant next door.

We went there cause we love to test pubs offering local beer and food. Absolutely great choice!! Very interesting beers brewed on the place to be tasted with a nice selection served in 5 different glasses. Tasty dishes of beefs to be eaten with. Best chips ever had. Cheap prices, what else?

As with many of my choices, a big thanks to the Lonely Planet for this one.A converted merchant's house with a great and interesting menu--pigs ears with mustard, pea soup with smoked meat in a rye pot, calf kidneys in sour cream--and beautifully presented food.Staff welcoming and friendly.Worth the slight detour from the centre of NN to get there--plus you get to see interesting sights on the way there and back.

The only problem with this place is that its interior kind of doesn't correspond with the food it serves. The food's excellent, very authentic, but the decor reminds me more of a bar or coffeeshop than a restaurant. Too casual for the price tag? Anyway delicious food, not too much wait, good beer.

It's probably the best place in Minnie Novgorod. The coffee is really good and they offer different methods of making it starting from Turkish way to Siphon. Interior is hipster style, but looks like designers worked well on it. Service is nice, for every cup of coffee they also serve you with a lovely biscuit.

Numerous reviews claim it is one of the best restaurants in the city. Well, maybe it is. The food is good. But not at all outstandingly delicious. The design is nice, but pretentious and polite waiters still make you feel you've entered some incredibly significant place. The menu titles make are also made to impress. It would have been much better if Mitrich had less showing off. The burger of "marble beef" and a country-style potato were just fine. The prices are close to those of Moscow.I would recommend this place and its food, but don't have exaggerated expectations please.

Le Grill is one of the best restaurants in Nizhny when you balance cost, great meals and fast service in a good atmosphere. It's a favorite for local businessmen and upscale dining.It's a bit out of the way for visitors in that it is not on one of the main walking streets tourists go to, but it is only a five minute walk from Gorky Square. They're serious about steaks here, and it's easily one of the two or three best steak houses in Nizhny, but all of the other food I've had here is great as well.If you are in Nizhny for business, it's a great place for a "business lunch," that is, a fixed price meal with two or three options for appetizer, soup, main course. Very good and very fast.I read some complaints about wine options and pricing in other reviews. Well, great steak is expensive in Russia, but my experience is that Russians tend to understand American-style steaks better than most of old Europe. The last couple of years have seen a revolution in local production of very high quality, marbled, aged beef as local ranches and producers have come on line. It's been a spare-no-expense approach of importing the finest cattle breeds with one of the local producers even importing a hundred or so American cowboys to make sure the cattle are tended by experts.Likewise, good wine can be expensive in restaurants in Russia. That's something of a surprise because you can get great deals on a good Bordeaux or a local Russian red at the big supermarkets, but that's the way it is. I suppose it is like restaurants in most parts of the world: take the price you'd pay for a bottle at Costco in the US or Metro in Europe, mutiply by four, and that's the restaurant price.If you're in town for the World Cup it can pay to visit Le Grill: great food, good service, fine atmosphere and because it is not on the crowded tourist streets you'll have a better chance of getting a table.Hello!Thank you for your time and detailed feedback with a high rating.
