We ate here once during our two week stay. They often have live music but a little bit âBenidormâ as in tv series tbh rather than anything traditional and VERY loud. Food was average (small portions & nothing really special). However, they really do need to sort their service out. We ate as a party of three and our daughter was still waiting for her meal way after my husband and I had finished ours-even with us getting up from dining and going to politely ask where it was. No real apologies and we didnât return as far better places to explore.

We visited this beautiful restaurant right on the beach front twice. It is an incredible setting with tables overlooking the sea. Our waitress, Miranda was great. She was friendly with a good sense of humour.The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The first time I enjoyed the swordfish and tonight I had the chicken souvlakia and a plate of yummy vegetables. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals.We were also treated to complimentary fresh fruit and raki when we had finished.It is a beautiful setting to enjoy your meal.

Piperia's cook, Georgia, is a secret gem and last night created simply the most delicious sea bass I'd ever tasted. Expect to wait for a while, but everything is well worth the wait.The beachside location outside the main village is quiet and romantic with no tourist trappings, the food is made from locallly grown ingredients following authentic Greek recipes. Highly recommended.

Bit more expensive than most restaurants in Kalives but always tasty food using good quality ingredients. Great location right on the beach at the quiet end of town. Usually the service is excellent - we eat here regularly when we visit Kalives - but last time it was very slow and staff indifferent. Not annoying as such, just tedious!

We really really enjoyed our visit, the food was outstanding, and the waiters a great laugh and joke, we couldn't believe the size of the pork chops, and the beef afelia very tasty. They have live entertainment some nights, there wasn't any the night we visited, but we had a marvellous time. The free raki made the night.

Icarus is not to be missed when you visit kalyves. food is authentic steaks and fish spot on cannot fault them. ask for a Barbara salad - fantastic!!! take advantage of dree sunbeds when you eat and drink at Icarus excellent value. look forward to next visit.

If the picturesque and romantic setting of tables dotted amongst the olive trees was not enough to take your breath away, the food will certainly leave you speechless. After eating at numerous restaurants across Crete, this was the best food we had eaten. From the refreshing salad to traditional smoked Antikristo, everything was great. We would certainly recommend to anyone visiting Crete.

We visited here as a family (with 2 boys and Nanny!) and had a fantastic meal. Huge (and I mean truly huge!) portions, great choice menu, including some lovely Greek/Italian combo dishes - and all served in a super-clean, lovely decor restaurant (with an option to eat outside if you prefer). Service was great - very personal; we were served by really lovely people. Free WiFi too. Just fantastic!

A wonderful Taverna at the beachside in Kalives Crete. Although known for their great pizzas, the owners, Giorgos and Stella, provide some of the best food available along with a friendly Devil may care attitude to whatever anyone might want to get up to.

In 5 days we went 3 times to il Forno. We very much appreciated the attentive service staff and quite entertaining owner, let's call him "Harry Potter" the food and drinks were every single time very good, we had an absolutely great time here and the prices are more then decent! Definitely nr. 1 on TripAdvisor (2019) for a good reason! Cheers Peter Pan

A nice and buzzing restaurant overlooking the water. The building is a beautiful townhouse converted to provide dining on all floors and lots of tables outside at ground floor. It is definitely worth booking in advance and requesting one of the tables on the first floor balcony which is private and overlooks the water, it makes a special occasion. Otherwise the roof provides a great outside dining experience.Overall the food was good and priced about right.
