We have been here for bar meals, and really enjoyed them, so decided to give it a go for a Christmas evening meal... We had to book in advance, and pay a deposit, and also choose our food, which was not any problem for us, and we also chose to sit in the bar area..
Service was excellent, very friendly and attentive.. The food was fantastic, traditional Christmas Turkey dinner, with all the trimmings.. I had the thai style fish cake for my starters, and the chocolate brownie for dessert, and both also very nice. Then after we had finished our meal, and relaxing with a drink, they brought out a box of matcmakers for us... As if we had not just ate enough.. ha ha..
Pleasant surroundings, and relaxed atmosphere there made it a lovely evening

We live not far from here but we have never thought of coming here for a meal. The hotel is in a lovely setting with amazing views over Workington and the Irish Sea. Another bonus is the nice big car park. Staff were friendly and polite. We chose our meals of the bar menu but you eat in the restaurant. There was a good selection and our food was nicely presented, flavoursome and hot. We will return.

Booked for lunch on Easter Saturday, as we were up visiting my parents in Cockermouth for the weekend. On arrival we discovered they've got a 2 for 1 lunchtime menu at £9.95 alongside a fairly extensive 'normal' menu and additional 'specials'. There was a good choice on the 2 for 1 menu so we took the plunge.... but in all honesty I didn't expect much for less than a fiver each. How wrong we were! The meals were all delicious (my roast pork was lovely, my wife raved about her vegetarian lasagne and my parents wolfed down their fish and chips and scampi with chips and salad.) Our son's homemade fish fingers from the children's menu were also superb (and a decent sized portion too!) I'd thoroughly recommend it and we'll definitely be back!

I visited Brewery House with 5 others to catch up before Christmas. We all had the Christmas Fayre 3 course menu at £18.99 which is great value for money. I started off with the Roasted Red Pepper soup, followed by the Roast Turkey with all the trimmings (including a homemade Yorkshire pudding, bonus!).. the meat was delicious and the veg cooked to perfection and very fresh. I finished off with the cheesecake of the day which was Double chocolate (white and milk).. absolutely gorgeous. We were greeted with a warm welcome and we all enjoyed sitting by the open fire.
We'll be back again soon! Merry Christmas!

I visited flavour last night for the first time, I wasn't sure what to expect but the menu I received prior to going looked very good.
On arrival we were greeted warmly and showed to out table.
We were talked through the menu by the restraunt owner who was more than helpful.
We ordered several dishes to share and they were soon at our table the taste and flavours were amazing and cooked to perfection at first glance I thought the portion size was possibly a little small, how wrong can you be? By the time we had finished I was totally stuffed.
Thank you to all the staff for a great evening, I'll definitely recommend a visit to anyone.

Chef patron Warwick Muir opened Oily's in June 2008 since then it has carved out a reputation as one of Cumbria's premier eateries. The food is classic British with a few Mediterranean elements.

Visited here for lunch on a tour to Cumbria as recommended in one of my AA guide books.
I was very pleased by the entire experience and would certainly recommend to others if in the area. The service was friendly and the prices were decent. I ordered the Old Ginn House Farm Grill that consisted of gammon and sausage and received a huge plate of food. The quality of the ingredients was decent and I was so full by the end of the plate.
There was also a good selection of drinks on the bar and would highly recommend the Clocker Stout from the Tractor Shed Brewery if it is on when you visit.

Recommended to come here by a friend.
Decor is very dated. Food very poor, cheap quality; cheap scampi with black gritty bits in.
Partner got a burger; resembled Bernard Matthews meat.
We regularly go out to eat and enjoy good quality meals; more quality over quantity.
We did not eat much of our meals and we will not be returning.

It must be 20 years since our last visit here , back in them days it was always the place to eat locally so didn't know what to expect during our latest visit.
It was a weekday lunchtime so didn't expect it to be bustling but it turned out to be virtually deserted, at first glance nothing much had changed over the years and it looked as if it was in need of a revamp and some money spent on it in regards of the carpets , tables and chairs and general decoration but then again this can add to the charm of a small village pub.
The one member of staff who we encountered was cheerful , friendly and welcoming and served us with a smile which is always a good start.
Now onto the food which was the main purpose of the visit, the menu consists of sandwiches, baguettes, jacket potatoes and a small selection of main meals, not a very extensive menu but perfectly acceptable, the waiting time for the food to arrive was just about right and the portion size was just about perfect and the food was all freshly prepared and very tasty, pleasantly surprised to say the least and would use again if in the local area
