Where to Eat in Shediac: The Best Restaurants and Bars

July 15, 2017 Myesha Cogley

Shediac is a Canadian town in Westmorland County, New Brunswick. The town is known as the "Lobster Capital of the World" and hosts an annual festival every July which promotes its ties to lobster fishing. At the western entrance to the town is a 90-tonne sculpture called (perhaps inaccurately) The World's Largest Lobster.

Popped in here for a quick lunch on a rainy day. Family of 6 had everything from a lobster roll to poutine, to scallops and shrimp. Didn't try the clams. Poutine was great. Lobster roll, scallops and shrimp were good. Everything else(hot dogs, chicken strips) were what you would except for such fare. We would go back!
Also, washrooms were very clean.

After over a week of travel and hitting some of the fine dining establishments in both Montreal and quebec we were ill prepared when we stumbled upon this outstanding heritage home restaurant. We both ordered the table d'haute which consisted of a cup of amazing lobster bisque which was served with two gigantic prawns hanging on the side of the bowl. This was followed by an outstanding green salad that was very lightly dressed and had nuts, cranberries and goat cheese. The main was out of this world. A perfectly cooked tenderloin with an equally perfectly prepared lobster tail and just the right amount of potato and vegetable. On this trip we have been sampling crème brûlée's at almost every establishment we have visited and non-have been better than the one we had last night. The service was amazing and our waitress Katya who is from Germany moved seamlessly between English to our table and French to our neighbouring table and spent time explaining offerings. The wine selection was lovely and well priced. Absolutely a 10 out of 10

As another reviewer said, it's hard to screw up ice cream. I ordered a banana split, but they had no bananas. Had a peanut parfait instead. It was good. My daughter had a dipped cone. It was good. The young lady working the counter obviously did not want to be there. I think she was mad at me for asking for a banana split.

Amazing food and Service. They serve the best fresh lobster in the west. The lobster is so fresh the meat taste so sweet and it was cooked perfectly. The Mussels was seasoned and cooked really well that I ate all the juices that it was cooked with. The cod fritters was also cooked really well. There was love music so the ambiance was amazing.

I had a half and half plate of fried clams and scallops, my beloved had clams and shrimp. Both came with masses of fries and a very good coleslaw. Everything was freshly cooked and piping hot, and delicious. Served in polystyrene boxes with plastic cutlery, but who cares when the food's this tasty. And, a bonus, the washrooms were immaculate.
