Seeklause

This is a very good example of a typical Bavarian Gastenhof serving very well priced local food with the additional value of a magnificent view to the Alps and a lovely Emerald green lake. Worth the 34 Km detour from the beautiful Ramsau

we stopped in famous RAMSAU, to visit Pfarrkirche St.Sebastian, on January 04, 2016. On a cold Winter day it was time to have a Cappuccino and we located " Lichtmannegger's, it sitting on a high elevation where you can get some great mountain view scenery on a clear day.
It is a beautiful setting, in a Bavarian House, next to a Hotel, with lots of parking spaces, from what I was able to witness, LUNCH is an elegant, classy setting. We had our Cappuccino in the Bar which was also a cozy place. Melanie was our waitress and she she did a fine job. The Cappuccino was good and if you are in the area, stop by, it is certainly worthwhile. Here you pay Euro 3.10 for a cup of Cappuccino in other places they want Euro 5.00

We come here regularly to eat in the panoramic restaurant. The food is typically German, the wild deer goulash is excellent and in the asparagus season you cant have enough. The staff are also great fun and really welcoming.

Tucked away from the hurly burly of downtown Berchtesgaden, this jewel of a restaurant gives great food in generous portions and friendly service. I had the pork chop in a tasty German sauce, you know, the one neither we or the French can get right. Also a generous helping of spaetzle, the local pasta form. The meat was beautiful ans as the man sat behind me shouted ' Fantastisch!' . My wife had a WienerSchitzel, the best we have had. Please come and enjoy this wonderful place with magnificent views along the valley.

Gasthaus Cafe Graflhoehe Windbeutelbaron

Dear Guest,We are very happy to greet you here in our lovely home.Whether for lunch or afternoon coffee and cake , we wish you a relaxing visit as you enjoy our spectacular mountain views. Everything we have to offer is prepared using only the freshest of meats and vegetables. Our pastries and cakes are home made and prepared with locally harvested eggs and the finest ingredients. Even our "Windbeutel", for which we are famous, are baked fresh daily and prepared in a variety of ways. The recipe for this house specialty has been a well kept secret for over 40 years. The Windbeutel was originally created by a pastry chef from Berlin, who frequently vacationed here in our home. We hope you enjoy your time here with us and thank you for your visit. We are open 10 am to 6 pm every day, but Wednesday. Unfortunately, we don't offer dinner, but we would be glad to serve you lunch (from 11 am to 4 pm).Our restaurant is easy to find. Just follow the road signs up the hill to "Kehlstein" and exit the roundabout on the road that leads further up the hill. After another 3 minutes of driving, you'll see our sign, which says "Gasthaus Graflhöhe", on your right. We are happy, if you are.As the guests are the center of our acting, we and our staff are hosts for who kindliness and cordiality are top priority.

Drove up her for lunch on the last day of our Alpenstrasse tour. Arrived just after 1pm on a Sunday and there were plenty of seats available (weather wasn't great, a little rain in the air).
The waitress showed us to a lovely table (inside, too cold & a little wet outside!), where we could enjoy the views. I had intended just to order the famous cake, but the food looked good and was inexpensive, so we decided we would have a beer (for me), wine (for wife) and a simple lunch (wiener sausage & chips for her and eggs, bacon & fried spuds for me). Food was delicious, and just the right portion size. We shared one Watzmann Windbeutelbaron cake afterwards. My! It is large, we struggled to eat it, even though we shared it! Loaded with whipped cream, plenty of vanilla ice cream inside, morello cherries around the base and the light choux-like pastry on top and bottom! Delicious, but too much!
An experience to savour though!

KURZ a CURRY

Reviewed By Alex T - Sydney, Australia

If you worry about getting authentic asian food in the european countryside - fear not. From a changing menu of tasty curries from all around asia, we picked red sri lankan beef curry and a chicken curry with black spices in a cashew sauce. Both were very good; the meat melted in your mouth and not too oily!
You notice quite a lot of commitment to quality - from the tender chicken, mint tea with fresh mint, to the long fragrant grains of basmati. Dessert was also a winner so if you have the space, definitely order.
The chef was friendly, the service warm and the food was top notch. Wish it were my local.
Tip:
Cash only.
Book a table or go early.
To cater for everyone it’s not as spicy as some would like, but if you like it hot, just ask the chef (he gave us chilli on the side).
As a general rule they do not do takeaway in consideration of the environment. They will, however, happily oblige if you bring your own container.
