Great hostel

Reviewed By Nathan M

I stayed in a mixed dorm of 6 which was very clean and modern, the bunks have their own curtain, safe inside the bunk and light so they are very private and quiet. The rooms also have lockers which are really big. The location of the hostel was great - close to both Dugommier and Daumesnil metro stations and you can get to most of the main tourist sites within 30 minutes and to Versailles in an hour or so, and Gare de Lyon is within walking distance. There’s also lots of shops and a laundrette nearby. The communal areas are quite nice and again modern, although the roof does close at 10pm. Staff were friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be that there is no sink in the toilet meaning you have to use the sink in the shower which is annoying if someone is in the shower. Overall I would say that the hostel was great value for money and I would definitely consider it if returning to Paris again.

Georges Hostel & Cafe

The Georges Hostel & Café is 800 square meters of conviviality and neat decoration, spread over 4 levels, including 150 square meters of common spaces, open to all, in Sète downtown. From the dorms bed to the large family suite via the coffee shop, this new trendy place is keen to encourage exchanges between travellers and locals as well as to promote its city and its region. At only 20 minutes by train from Montpellier !

Not totally living up to the price of our double room.

Really big room for two, quite nice. The two additional bunks were not occupied. Location in Sète is perfect. The things that did not fit with the price of 140 €: Breakfast where the croissants and baguettes are safeguarded by the staff. You get a tray with one croissant. In the bread basket, there is maximum the amount of 1 baguette at a time. Nothing cooked (like eggs, bacon). The air conditioning is special: you cannot set it below 26 °, the thing is centrally controlled. I switched it on to have a good sleep, but it switched off after half an hour or so. Staff said you can set it for longer, but I did not see how. With a window to the street, an open window at night is not a good option. I saw other people had to bring their bedlinen down to the reception. We did not have to.

Auberge de Jeunesse Hi Carcassonne

The Carcassonne Youth Hostel is located in the heart of the medieval city, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Behind its ramparts, let yourself be guided by the performances of modern troubadours or the animations that regularly hosts the city of Carcassonne. It is a journey through time, which leads you to the Cathars. It is also a gastronomic journey, a few steps from the vineyards of the soil of the south of France.

Very basic accommodation.

Price reflected well based on limited other options within City walls. Disposable bedding means it is very uncomfortable for the more mature traveller. €24 per night however makes it more comfortable. Upsides though are that the members of staff I met are very welcoming and friendly. Reception staff have excellent English language making it easier for communication. Excellent Cassoulet which I pre-booked which comes with 2 drinks ( I chose two red wine) and had more on request, also a Nougat ice-cream dessert and coffee available. Very long walk to room from common area made me feel slightly unsafe whilst the hotel was very quiet. The views from bathroom and corridor have gorgeous views over the city roofs.

The bed and showers were excellent! Super comfortable, and clean. The staff was so kind, helpful, and patient. We especially loved the detail of the tile superheroes on the floor of the bar. One employee in particular, the man with a moustache, tried his very best to help us identify the superheroes. Even though he was wrong about Optimus Prime, that doesn’t change our view of the hostel as a whole. :) 1000000/10 would definitely stay again. - Alison Argyle

The hotel has 14 rooms with sublime views over the ramparts or the Constance tower. Discover our LOUNGE BAR and enjoy the panoramic view of the ramparts and the Constance tower. Great location right inside the walls of the old town. Lovely property, with a pleasant bar/restaurant/lobby area. Room was spacious, and very stylish and comfortable. Very nice service. It's a nice place but they were great about us having a 1 year old. High chair available. Very good breakfast. Not a proper restaurant for dinner, but they serve food in the lobby including some stuff from other local restaurants. Only issue is that the music in the lobby/lounge was super loud all the time - wasn't so pleasant, especially as it was pretty quiet being low season.

Excellent hostel, great value

Reviewed By Nathan M

I had a really great stay in this hostel, it’s only a 5 minute metro ride from Gare Part Dieu and close to the metro and tram stops to get to the main sites of Lyon, many are also within walking distance. The staff were really helpful, especially one of the girls on reception (don’t know her name) who pointed out all the important places and things to do in Lyon for me which was super helpful. I stayed in a room of 6 which was spacious enough and had lockers which were big enough for a backpack but not enough for a big rucksack. The shared bathrooms were clean and I didn’t have to wait long if at all. The only issue is that because the bunks are wooded, they were very noisy any times anyone moved at all in bed. Overall, I found the hostel to be great value and would definitely stay here if visiting Lyon again.
