Osteria La Brioska

Osteria La Brioska was Established in 2007 in an ancient courtyard in the middle of Gattinara by the cook Giuseppina Baruffi with the aim to offer a typical wine and food experience. That's why almost everything is produced in Gattinara: from the worldwide famous wine to the raw materials used following the traditional recipes. In Gattinara's dialect the name Brioska means "place where you can temporary sell wine and food" and origins from an ancient tradition of the town.La Brioska is a warm "family-run business" managed by Giuseppina and her husband Celestino, their son Pietro and his wife Rosanna. From 2011 La Brioska is recommended by several gastronomical guidebooks, among which the most important is Osterie d'Italia by Slow Food.

This is the type of restaurant we always seek out when traveling in Italy: dedicated to local dishes seasonally adjusted, together with a treasure trove of local wines (situated in Gattinara, the options are naturally quite grand).
The restaurant is comfortable and cozy, the service attentive and friendly. Of course we had the risotto made with gattinara wine (delicious and perfectly cooked). The appetizers of beef tartare (from the Fassone cow) and vitello tonnato were well made. The specialty of the moment were small frogs fried whole - the verdict is still out on that dish.
Pietro, the excellent host, advised us on the purchase of wines in the superb wine store next door, stacked with the best of the best Gattinara producers and vintages and also offering all the wines made from the many autochthonous grapes of the area - a must for wine lovers.
Prices are moderate.

We were touring the area and saw this restaurant. This review is short but to the point - the food is michelin star worthy and the courtesy and kindness second to none. Might be off the beaten path but definitely amazing.

Its just the place we love. They know how to use local ingredients to make supperb dishes. And they have the wine to go with it! A Typical old Italien restaurant with a decoration showing their love of local antiques. From the outside it does not look special. The sell self grown rice and oil as well.

Crescentino is a small town by the river Po in Italy, located between Torino and Milan. A very small Piedmont town where you might not expect a sophisticated place to eat. Well, if this is your expectation then the Archigusto is quite a surprise. Located just across the street from the square, the restaurant has a light yet interesting decoration and an ambiance that gets you in the mood for a good meal. Not having many tables to attend, the service is efficient and quite personalized.
The food is very good, from the amuse-bouches (I had a delicious prosciutto) to the dessert (something with hazelnuts and dark chocolate). The specialties range from regional plates (such as the risottos - this is an area where rice is a major crop) to creative delicacies such as the asparragus mousse I had the pleasure to get.
A great dining experience.

This is pretty little restaurant in the Sermenza valley. Excellent, friendly service and a small but interesting menu - although we didn't ask for it, an English translation was provided. Really good cooking and presentation. We liked our first lunch so much we went back again. A really enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.

I was here with friends from work taking a long weekend's skiing in Monte Rosa. I can only say what an interesting place and very nice people as hosts. The food was all local and and array of specialities. I am not a fan of pollenta but gave it a try and enjoyed the variety of local meats. Lovely old building surrounded by places and obviously a lot of history in the area. Sadly we visited at night so didn't get a chance to see the area that well. Would like to return during the day.
