Definitely a local restaurant which was a bit intimidating at first for two non-native speakers - fortunately one of the managers had spent time living in Miami so he was very helpful in taking our order. Lunch was absolutely delicious and a good value. It was a great stop on our trip to experience the culture.

Have been here for lunch around 10 times and this upmarket modern restaurant never fails to impress. Excellent all inclusive menus of the day including sparkling wine and still wines for a modest sum. Also a la carte and imaginative tasting menus. Very friendly and professional service by excellent staff. Visiting the winery in the cellar possible. Part of the Dao Sul winery group. All wines can be purchased to take home at supermarket prices. Stunning building and views. Recommended!

Pedra de Sal

The cuisine and the wine at this restaurant was absolutely superb. The food was modern Portuguese, exquisitely prepared and served. Black pig was superb. I did not see many vegetables. The atmosphere is relaxed and the interior well appointed. Rightfully so, they take immense pride in serving wonderful wines from the Bairrada region and the choices were overwhelming. So much wine, such great food, and so little time. This restaurant is a bit pricey, but worth every single escudo.
Don’t tell anyone about it except your seven best friends!

The restaurant is big but but comfortable at the same time, with a good parking place this restaurant offers good service and excellent food, apart of the piglet I recommend a dessert "Molotoff" with a fantastic cream of soft eggs with cinnamon *****

Rei dos Leitoes

Founded in 1947, Rei dos Leitões is a traditional and stylish restaurant where you can enjoy the finest roasted piglet and choose from a wide selection of vintage or modern wines.

We went there without any reservation but very early. That was our luck. Later the restaurant was really crowded. The different kinds of bread were really good and the reccomondation of the vine too. We ate leitões and a beef that was wrapped with puff pastry. The quality of the meat, the sides and the sauce were delicious. The waiters were really kind and fulfilled every wish.

Licinio

Reviewed By JohnnyTbravo - Porto District, Portugal

Strategically located on the road side in Mealhada (where this kind of piglet dish is originally from) this restaurant is a restaurant along the road with an old simple decor. Don't expect much from the restaurant looks just concentrate on the food. It’s not the kind of restaurant where you'll go for a fast meal but the food is good and you’ll mainly see around locals and other Portuguese coming for the piglet. For those who are not meat lovers they also serve fish (although none of us tried it). It’s good for lunch/dinner, with friends, business or even for families with children although I believe it can get a bit loud (we already went close to 15h so it was quiet). The wine menu is rather poor although for the piglet you should just try the local "frizzante" - castiço. There’s no wifi and the waiters are friendly and service is ok.

Bussaco Palace Hotel Restaurant

Located in the famous Bussaco Palace Hotel, which you have on trip advisor.

Reviewed By Craighartman - Gordonsville, Virginia

This hotel has the potential for greatness but is lacking competent management. First I will say that the drive into the park in which the Palace is located is breathtaking. Beautiful ancient trees, rare species of plants, manicured Gardens etc. The palace itself is spectacular to behold. As soon as you enter the hotel it is apparent that the inside is not as important to the owners as the outside. The interior structure itself is beautiful but the state of the furniture, carpets, drapes and the dusty smell set our internal alarms off. Of course a smile and a caring attitude from the staff would have helped to quiet the alarms. Unfortunately the staff in the front of house were less than friendly and disinterested. Upon entering our room, which we had to search for, we encountered a nice large room with a very nice bathroom, high ceilings and was well appointed. The room was very warm and had no air conditioning or fans. The inside of the window was covered with gnats. We were told by the front desk staff that we should open the windows and let the gnats out and the air in. Keep in mind that we were on on the top of a small mountain and in a forest, so the nights usually cool down but not this night. Our dinner in the restaurant was very good and the Waitstaff showed a little better training than the front desk. But again the furniture and carpets were worn and not cared for. Breakfast was a highlight and dining on the veranda overlooking the Gardens was very relaxing. There was nothing at this hotel that could not be fixed by strong competent management and a stronger commitment from the owners.

This is not, definitely the fanciest restaurant in Mealhada, but if you want to have an 'excellent ' meal, probably this is the spot. Good competent service, with excellent suckling pig, chips and salad, this restaurant is one of the best options. I've been here several times (when traveling from Porto to Lisboa and vice-versa), as at Rocha, Pedro and Nova Casa, and this continues to be one of the best options. Recommended

Luso is a Parish of the Municipality of Mealhada and renowed by its mineral waters.. We highly suggest to have a meal at the "Restaurant Lourenços", an excellent Restaurant with a buffet for starter and Deserts. The food is awesome and the service warm and professional. We had the codfish and the super tasty Wellington steak. The portions are big therefore we could not have dessert. We enjoyed the local wine "vinho da casa".
The Restaurant is located in the centre of the village with ample parking place. We will be back for sure!
