With the Palace Hotel as the center of attention, many other attractions exist. The Carmelitas Convent is beautiful. But to find the other attractions is challenging, since the place, although huge, is poorly signalized.

So much was written about that Hotel. Mostly good things.
We, two couples spent one night at the hotel.
The hotel is located in a forest not far way from highways.
We enjoyed the time there: Atmosphere was unique and good. Service was great and meals were delicious.
Rooms were clean but small, tiny TV.
We definitely recommend on it.

Loved this tour of the wine cellar. Patricia our tour guide was wonderful in explaining the process. Definitely worth going to check it out. We ended up buying a couple bottle of wines at the end of the tour, unfortunately due to the non-exchange policy we weren't allowed to exchange one of our already purchased bottles of wine to a more expensive bottle even though we were still in the store. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience... Patricia was fantastic!

Sao Joao Fountain

In the small but very touristic village of Luso, you have the “Fountain São João”. On this Fountain there are allot of people who are filling their plastic 5 litre bottles with the water, a lot are coming with small van´s to fill up 20 and more bottles. The upper floor of the Fountain has a glaze structure who gives you the possibility to have an inside view on the floating water. Normally the water is bottled by the company da “Agúa de Luso”. And on this level you will also be able to visit the small chapel called “Capela de São João” Evangelista who is from the 18th century. People who have seen Luso more than 10 years ago will be surprised when returning, this because of a complete restructuration of the surrounding area of the Fountain.

Convento de Santa Cruz do Bucaco

This building is loaded with history from ancient monks to battling stories but there is virtually no information available. All you see is bare walls embellished with cork (which is special), closed doors, barren rooms and a couple of deteriorating paintings.
A missed opportunity to tell more about an interesting past. And a waste of your 2€ entrance fee.

Caves do Solar de Sao Domingos

The Caves São Domingos have been producing sparkling wines, old spirits, pomace spirits, Bairrada and Dão wines since 1937. Its cellars lodge more than two million bottles of sparkling wine, large thousands of wine bottles and hundreds of french oak barrels for the famous wine derived spirits. The São Domingos pomace spirit, distilled in the company's own alembics, continues to lead the market with its everlasting quality. Under the aegis of the name São Domingos other brands are emerging, such as "Lopo de Freitas", "Elpídio", "Quinta de S. Lourenço" and more recently "Volúpia", a white wine that has been surprising consumers as well as opinion makers. Oenotourism is another good bet and every year thousands of visitors are dazzled by the beauty of the galleries excavated in the rock, the millions of bottles, and the wine shop, a museum with a tasting room. We are a close partner in the Rota da Bairrada project.

Went there on a cloudy day coming from Mira and after 15 minutes waiting for the hostess to have finished her call we could get dome explanations in French, when we opted for the aqua zen for 60 minutes we are told they can do special for us 35´ because it is lunch time, it was 12.05, we said we can come back afte lunch they say ok from 2pm, used the 2 hours to visit bussaco, back we wait another 15minutes for a phone reservation to end then wanted to register but are asked the age of the kids, thought it was for the price but no my daughter is to be 16 in 2 months but she is too young! Tried to convince her to accept us but no way a firm and polite désolé, we went quite frustrated, thinking of what else to do. Then she came out to tell us we can go to the swimming pool of a nearby hotel... Which we did not, so good luck and patience if you try to go
