Dans un chalet au centre de la station, restaurant tres cher travaillant uniquement des produit frais (Maitre Restaurateur). Compter au minimum deux heures a table. Ni Brasserie, Ni Pizzeria, vous viendrez en connaissence de cause...

We came here for an evening meal. We had good service and the ambiance was pleasant with a choice of tables out side, heated by the environmentally questionable patio gas heaters, or inside. We had a table with good mountain views. It was very high set with heavy tall chairs but comfortable once installed!
The menu was interesting and we all had excellent food but it is on the pricy side.

We had a fabulous traditional Savoyard meal here one evening early July. The restaurant was delightfully furnished in traditional Alpine style. Staff were attentive and efficient. The food was lovely and very good value for money. Reblechou (a whole reblechon cheese baked in the oven with white wine) served with the cold meats and green salad. Pichet of the house white to accompany the meal, very tasty and one of the best traditional Savoyard meals we ate in La Clusaz during our holiday.

Very good if you like meat; authentic, rustic, cosy; and overall good value for a typical Savoyard menu with one or two unusual twists on offer.
My partner and I had an unexpected meat-fest here. My starter of bacon in a pastry crust was all bacon (properly a chunk of a shoulder of ham), with any crust baked away to near oblivion. The meat literally fell apart, and had evidently been cooked for a long time; the portion wold have been good even for a main course! My partner's starter was a salad, equally well sized. For mains we had braised beef, and tartiflette, with options for accompaniments - we had chard, not your everyday veg, and this was cooked to be very tender; again, my meat was tasty, succulent, and sublime in texture. We shared a nougat glace for dessert which was an interesting mix of flavours and textures, with an unusual hint of charred nuts. All of this was accompanied by a couple of aperitifs, half a bottle of Apremont, a pot of tea, and free shots of home made Genepi. The bill, at around £50 each, was good value.
My one criticism was that the restaurant felt one table too packed (ours), exacerbated as the place was deservedly busy throughout. The staff were pleasant, and kept up a hectic pace between them, always with a smile. One of the chefs worked on a range at the back of the restaurant, which in any case has a very homely theme, adding to that feel - as the sub text says, 'like Grandma's".
Overall, very good - though you'll need to like meat (unless you go for the ubiquitous cheese fondue).

If you are looking for the traditional fare in this region of the Alps, I highly recommend this restaurant. Great dishes from the local cheeses. Tartiflette, Berthou are great choices and I recommend the Raclette to share for two or more. Be hungry because the portions are large.

Dont be fooled by the exterior - there is good food inside. Deep fried Reblochon salad, fois gras, pigeon (lush) and the biggest coffee gourmand i have ever seen - must have had 6 puddings with the coffee.

Pleasant dinning room but unfortunately,
lacks ventilation. Our clothes were smelling
odors from the kitchen for some days.

surprises concerning ingredients,
not very successful all of them .
Service was very slow.
Dishes, some of them interesting and

We had a nice dinner despite the efforts of the waitress to spoil the evening. To our question about the arrival of the food after waiting for 3/4 hour, she reacted very irritated, that we only waited for half an hour. To our question whether we could have some mayonaise, she said she didn't have any. Two minutes later her colleague did bring it to our table. She just didn't want to give it to us. I don't think we will come again to this place. Too expensive to be treated so unpleasant.

Despite rather horrible weather, we sat outside, under shelter, and had a great lunch here. Kids' burger was the best my son had ever eaten, he said (local beef, freshly made chips & yummy salad) and our tartiflettes and plat du jour (lamb shank, utterly melt-in-the-mouth) were fantastic.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and I look forward to going back sometime ....
Also (importantly), La Calèche has lovely loos!

Second visit here and did not disappoint. The locals agree that it's the best in the region and it's not hard to see why. Food beautifully prepared and presented, the unlisted amuses bouches and granitas between courses are a particular treat.
Wine list extensive and well chosen but expect a bottle to add at least €30 to your bill (or €700+ if you fancy the vintage Chateau Latour!). Service very efficient and attentive. At pricey end of the spectrum but very hard to fault.

A year since my last visit, and the standards here are as high as ever, and I cannot praise this restaurant enough.
Service is excellent, and the staff and owners friendly.
The food compares with any Michelin starred restaurant I have eaten in, yet l'Oursin manage to keep prices in line with the more rustic, local restaurants. The detail and subtlety of the dishes are what fine dining is all about, and the little touches such as Amuse Bouche, Pre-Dessert and complimentary limoncello add to what is already a great value meal.
Excellence all the way!
