Lasithi (Greek: Λασίθι) is the easternmost regional unit on the island of Crete, to the east of Heraklion. Its capital is Agios Nikolaos, the other major towns being Ierapetra, Sitia and Neapoli. The mountains include the Dikti in the west and the Thrypti in the east. The Sea of Crete lies to the north and the Libyan Sea to the south.

We were at the lotus-eaters for an evening meal. We chose the place after Reading amazing trip advisor reviews. Well this one will not be different. This restaurant really deserves them all. The location is by the sea protected from the wind, the lighting is perfect and the chairs really confortable. I had the Cretan sausages, the lamb chops and the chocolate cheese cake. My wife had the shrimp with ouzo, the sole and the walnut sponge cake. All of them were amazing. The red house wine was very good. The service was spotless. A place not to miss.

Wow, we certainly ate well here. The amount of food we were given while waiting for our order was amazing. We had such a friendly welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and well worth the walk to get there. The only thing that bothered me were the cats begging for food, although they were worse on some other places. Highly receommend this place.

We decided to try the Alyggos on our second evening in Elounda. We were made to feel very welcome. We decided to sit just outside the bar in the square and sat and watch the comings and goings of the local people including the children who were playing in the square. It was very relaxing and a great place to chill that we decided to go on an evening and were always warmly welcomed by the staff.

Try the cheese saganaki for starters. Delicious. We wanted the meatballs too but were told it would be too much with our mains. Too right! House red wine was delicious too. My favourite loukomades were complementary at the end of dinner. Nice little family restaurant with good service and very reasonable prices.

Welcome to Piato. Homemade & Creative Cuisine, outstanding view of the Cretan sea, more than 35 years of experience and your love, are all part of the unique experience of eating in "Piato". Since 1980 with constant work, love and passion about food and wine, we managed to make "Piato" one of the best family restaurants in Agios Nikolaos. ''Ask the locals...they know''
This is a lovely decorated restaurant, modern and lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. The food was good however we were expecting something different, I would say it's good quality and tasty but felt many other restaurants in the area served just as creatively.

Cretan traditional food
Popped in for lunch and to enjoy the views from the rear balcony overlooking the bay. It’s a nice spot and whilst it doesn’t look much from the outside it’s nicely decorated and has a surprisingly large menu at reasonable prices. It’s a trek up to the top of the hill (called cardiac hill!!!) or you can walk up the road from the Promenade around the harbour - take the steep road beside the despina restaurant (past the town beach on the way towards Plaka) and keep going straight up - you’ll see a sign to the restaurant car park at the top - take left fork. Food was nicely presented although tzaziki wasn’t that flavoursome. The building is interesting as it used to be used by the fishermen to look at weather trends and plan where to fish in the bay.

A family run business, great local cooking with excellent service. My favourite is the sea bass superbly cooked on the grill. It is cooked whole but a simple request and they will remove the bone. Nothing is too much trouble.

Just wonderful. It felt like being at home in Cretan family. Every part of the menu was described beautifully and was exactly as described. The Shepherd salad is fantastic as are the Saganaki prawns. The owner is an absolute delight, we will be back!!

We were really happy to discover this great family restaurant. Dimitris and his wife do excellent job! All food is delicious, fresh, more than that, prices are reasonable. Try their local wine in the jar, it is wonderful. It is true that Dimitris ' wife is from Bourgogne, so she knows very well how to choose wine:) Thank you very much! Greetings from Ferney Voltaire. Yana, Daniel.
