I very much enjoy Japanese grilled eel and the Unagi at Honda in Iiyama pretty much tops them all.
Honda is a mid sized restaurant in Iiyama, clean and orderly, very Japanese. The service is excellent and they serve eel and more eel. Pretty much this is their only dish and they do it pretty much perfectly.
So, if you like Japanese grilled eel, this is the place to have it!! Definitely worth the visit and we will be back again!!

A delightful little patisserie selling the most delicate pastries and cakes and cookies. We made a point to return to actually sit down in their cozy corner and have tea & cakes one wintry afternoon. I love chestnuts & their Mont Blanc did not disappoint. We also tried the Matcha Red Bean cake with our coffee. Drinks were self service in one corner and you could make any drink available. They also sold a variety of cookies and very beautifully gift wrapped sets as well, My recommendation is to try their sake cookie - it is made with the local sake brew and really something quite extraordinary.
Definitely have to return to try more of their patisseries!

昭和の時代から50年以上続く老舗食堂。店はお世辞にも綺麗とは言えない。だが、ここの「もつ煮」は唯一無二で絶品。しょうゆベースのトロリとしたその味は類似のスタイルを他に見たことがない。まずはこのもつ煮を食べるためだけに足を運ぶ価値はあると言える。
そして「中華そば」は煮干し系のどこか懐かしく一見アッサリ風だがコクのあるスープ。さらに年中食べられるつけ麺スタイルの「冷やし中華」も外せない。このつけダレも唯一無二。
「もつ煮」と並んで某有名ラーメン評論家が激賞したことから、週末は非常に込み合うようになった。頼んだものが出てくるまでに結構な時間がかかるけれど、夫婦二人で回しているお店なので、大目に見てほしい。
昨今「まいう～」の某タレントがここを訪れカツ丼（爆盛り！）を激賞したことからカツ丼も最近は名物になってきたようだが、まずは「もつ煮」と「中華そば（or 冷やし中華）」を試してほしい。
木曜日は店休日です。
なお、東京は祖師谷大蔵にある「麺 稲荷」の店主はこちらの店主の弟さんです。

Rudolf is just down the hill from the Maderao Ski Resort No 1 lift. It is a small, cosy restaurant serving italian food (Pizza/Pasta) along with the usual Japanese suspects like Agadashi Tofu, Gyoza, and Edamame Beans.
I do recommend you book either the day before or in the morning for dinner as it is a small restaurant with maybe half a dozen tables.
They serve their Sake in rustic, mismatched cups and bottles which is a very nice touch.

お蕎麦のつなぎに山ごぼうを使っているとのことでしたが、蕎麦のコシがかなりありおいしくいただきました。あと季節の山菜の天ぷらをいただきました。こちらには、こごみやコシアブラがありおいしくいただきました。11：30に行ったのですが殆ど満席の状態でした。

野沢温泉の帰りに寄りました。
湯田中や仙仁温泉から野沢温泉に行く時に何度かこちらの道の駅に寄り買い物をしたことがあったので、前からこちらのカフェは気になっていました。
先に食べるものを選んで会計を済ませて番号札を持って椅子に座っていると、注文したものをテーブルまで届けてくれるシステムです。
テラス席も魅力的だったのですが、お昼時で暑そうだったので、冷房の効いてる店内の景色の楽しめるカウンター席へ。
今回は「里わカレー」と「タコライス」（それぞれ７５０円）にしました。
カレーはわりとさらっとしたタイプで野菜がゴロゴロ入っています。タコライスもお味がよく美味しくいただきました。お手頃な価格で満足。 また１１月に野沢温泉に行くので立ち寄り決定です！！お腹が空いていたらセットも試してみたいと思います。
☆を４つにしたのは、テイクアウトで買い求めたデザート（４つ購入しました）が普通だったこと。もうちょっと工夫されたものだったら文句なく☆５つです。

A cosy and cute environment, with good examples of Japanese curry on the menu. Some of the ingredients are locally sourced. The restaurant's claim to fame is the yaki-curry served in a big bowl with melted cheese. The server also brings a basket of toppings to the table, such as pickles, shallots, tiny shrimp and parmesan cheese so you can season your dish any way you like. I think that is quite unique and haven't had curry like that in Japan before.
