We stopped here some years ago and were please to discover Hamnkrogen, located down by the Visingsö ferry terminal. We remembered our previous visit and decided to give them a new visit. It was apparent that the restaurant had changed ownership but the food was still very good (of course we had röding, the local fish speciality) and the staff took it's time to small talk with all the guests.
The view that accompanied the meal was unbeatable with a spectacular sunset over Lake Vättern and we can only renew our previous review with the same verdict. Nice!
There was outdoor Seating available too, but we decide to sit indoors.

The Västanå Slottshotell (manor/castle) is located on the eastern side of the magnificent Lake Vättern opposite Visingso island. Västanå Slott Hotel rents out two historic houses in nearby Röttle by (village). We rented Brogården house located on the southern bank of the Röttlean (river) and had the opportunity to dine at the Västanå Slottshotell.
Upon arrival we had drinks in the reception bar surrounded by artworks, artefacts and historical curios. The staff kindly allowed us to have a look around on the upper floor with its magnificent dinning, drawing and reception rooms with views over Lake Vättern. We were a party of six adults and two children. Martin (aka Marty) was our gracious host and showed us to our private dining room adorned with fine artworks.
We adults were served a four course dining experience with wines including a good Tasmanian Riesling that we noted to Martin was almost Australian which confused our host as he was certain Tasmania was in Australia. It is of course but ask a Tasmanian and they’ll assure you it isn’t. Five of us are Aussies and thought it was all very funny (förlåt Martin). I also enjoyed several excellent local beers (Naas was my favourite as a non-wine drinker) to accompany my courses. The chef kindly provided burgers and chips and ice cream for the kids so they were happy.
The atmosphere of the private dining room was very convivial and the food , wines and beers were excellent. Martin was very attentive and maintained his polite reserve and excellent service throughout our wonderful and high spirited dining experience. Martin spoke very good Oxford English and was somewhat surprised that English was in fact our first language. Our Swedish family members came to the rescue if things got lost in translation. Tack tack Martin you were a great host.
All in all we had a great evening at the Västanå Slottshotell and I recommend it for anyone who would like to experience something different and the atmosphere of spending a convivial evening in an authentic 16th century Swedish manor house.

Don't expect great food (it's passable, but nothing more). LOTS of people stop here, so it's crowded, noisy and the line is fairly long (both for eating and for the restrooms). The view is great and you can buy some Polkagrisar.

Linoleum floors, furniture from the 1950s and service from what could be the daughter of the owner, who inhereted the business from thier grandparents... The bullar (cinnammon buns) and coffee are great, so is listening to the conversation of the locals that frequent the place.

It is really worthwhile to find this place southeast of Gränna. The surroundings are marvellous next to the Lake Bunn.
They had a good menu with both fish and meat. We had the "the special offer of the Summer". A very good choice whith Salmon boiled with apple served with asparagus, pickled potatoes and a Sauce Verte, flavored with Wild garlic. That sauce was to die for.
On sundays they have the typical Swedish lunchbuffé "Smorgosbord"
This is a place we just MUST return to.

We went here after spending the weekend at the nearby camping, and was pleasantly surprised. The ice gream was really good, and the double espresso was one of the best I've ever had. Will return!Dear Daniel P, Thank you for taking the time to review our place. We are pleased to hear that you liked both our italian ice cream and espresso and we hope to have another opportunity to serve you in the future. Best regards, Gelato Factory

Very nice restaurant at the top of the mountain in Gränna. The have many different sandwiches, pies, and other smal dishes. I strongly recommend the scrimp sandwiches, or the Sandwich with both scrimp and smoked salmon. The restaurant has a very fantastic view over the city of Gränna.
